What a beautiful car, such a shame that it was destroyed by water. I will bet it's still making money today. The old expression comes to mind. " Worth more dead than alive" 1957 was a great year for cars.
They could have incorporated a drain in the floor leading to a sump where a pump could have kept it dry! This would have let them know it was taking on water. They should try it again with the last Dodge Challenger to be built soon.
The idea, that a time capsule has to be under the earth seems odd. Why didn't they just store it away in some kind of container, but in a dark and DRY place? Would have had a bigger "time capsule" effect than this one.
@@KartKing4everit's kinda like asking why did everybody smoke like chimneys back then? How did they just NOT KNOW that inhaling smoke directly into your lungs was BAD for your health???🤔
Why didn't they MAKE SURE that the vault was treated so that it would be LEAK PROOF. I can understand a little moisture getting in, but not flooded like it was. Oh well - too late now.
I think it was so rusted out every piece would need to be replaced. It wouldn’t even be the same car because you’d essentially be building a car from scratch.
@@BigElkificationyou can see the car is still pretty solid. I've restored cars in much worse condition. One I did sit at the bottom of a lake for 35 years. It was still more solid then many I see on the road today. That care had 45 miles on it. I had about 15,000 in it it sold for 147,000! So I came out ahead. This is an easy project. If they offered it to me today. I would restore it and drive it.
@@thecarguy2470 from what I’ve heard the damage has made the structural integrity too fragile. I am very curious how you managed to save a car at the bottom of a lake. What parts were you able to save?
@@BigElkificationit's easy. Nearly every part was savable. It makes a difference when you know what you're doing. I've restored many cars that are much worse than this 57 using whatever parts that were still on them..

My grandfather was on the team that buried this car. We have tons of old photos of it!
He should have used flex seal.
so he was stupid ?
They didnt have that back then dodo. @@matthewboylez34
That is such a shame that it was ruined. I would love to know what was in it. Hope you have a great weekend and God bless!
I’m curious too but haven’t found that info yet 😀. Have a great weekend!
Miss Belvedere has a wiki page, there's a list of items there.

i teach English in Saudi Arabia , we have a reading about this car in our book. thanks for the video will show it to my students.
Why??? This whole adventure was a huge disappointment. certainly not history worthy at all!
The unit mainly talks about the future ,it doesn't really matter if it worked or not@bultacowally
She is still very restorable!!
Não mesmo, sua lataria está mais fina que papel!
Build a poorly sealed concrete box allowing water to enter from the rain or ground water. The car looks like being pulled from the river.
It's still an awesome car
Mna I would hate to see what you consider a junk car....
Why the vault was underground is beyond me.
1957
Cold war
Nuclear war fears
Also, NEW WATERPROOF CONCRETE SEALANT baby!
Also do you not know what time capsule generally is?
Very Interesting And Kinda Sad. 😲🤔😔🍁
I agree. That was a classic!
Happy 4th of July to you. 😎👊✊😎
No wonder Christine was so pissed off

It was a beauty at one time for sure!
yep my Zettie J Runyon born in Pike County, KY on April 24, 1942 but age 78, of Springboro, OH; died Wednesday April 21, 2021😭😭😭
Drain the gas tank replace the engine with a big block hemi install air ride, matte clear coat her, install 20 inch wheels and Rat Rod her.
frame is probably swiss cheese
@@bultacowallyProbably not as bad as some new cars.

last Challenger is long gone...
The body they found in the trunk didn't help the value, either. :)
Miss Belvedere still looks better than most of today's vehicles.

Think they also covered it in cosmoline if im not mistaken
⛽⛽⛽⛽⛽💯💯🤫❤️🔥
WHAT HUGE EMBARASSMENT TO OKLAHOMA!!!!
OOOOOOOO klahoma, where the cars keep rustin' undergroud!!!!
What a shame the car was ruined. A collector would re store it.
I guess they didn't know about leaks and moisture in the year 1957, what a travesty
To be honest, they didn't know much about anything science related back then, compared to today lol

We study the Tusla time capsule,in Saudi Arabia edition
And I watch this video to get information about the car . Thank you
The seals failed.

why did they burry it? there are other ways to hide it away...
Just like any burial vault, will fill with ground water over time. I'd rather be cremated. Scott from Cold War Motors could restore the car.👍
I would srill take the car and fully rebuild it..
