My mother communicated by letter all her life with friends with whom she had gone to school in Saskatchewan in the early 1920’s. Following the death of my father in 1964, Mom travelled by train to British Columbia. Along the way she visited some of those friends. It has always been amazing to me that she was greeted so warmly and treated so kindly by schoolmates from so long ago. She was welcomed into their homes, celebrated at gatherings of friends and cousins, dined and entertained in homes and public venues and made to feel that both she and her correspondence had mattered. I have to admire her conviction which, in the end, paid off so heartwarmingly.
The Jude Law letter is Allen’s rip off a letter from a British bricking read out an uk institute of engineers meeting in the 1970s. ABC local radio program Sydney hosted by Margaret Throsby. Search.
This is the most wonderful experience. As an old Southern er, letter reading and letter writing was as deeply engrained in my experience as mayonnaise, going barefoot, and wearing white gloves to dances. Thank you for so vividly, poignantly, and beautifully bringing that all back to me.
Benedict is awesome LOL but I love Letters Live overall immensely! I'm here for any and all of the amazing people who come and bring life to these incredible letters. Thank you for doing this!
I have anger problems and anxiety all in one. Just 4 days ago I came across one of the clips and I fell in love. I listen to each reading with my eyes closed as a movie plays in my mind. I feel calm and some are hilarious. The reading of 'Hussain to People of Europe' brought me to tears. Thank you Live Letters, brilliant..just brilliant ❤️
For those of you who are watching this for Tom Hiddleston's appearance, he comes in at 13:26. For those of you who are waiting for Benedict Cumberbatch's appearance, he comes in at 32:33. Please do stay for the rest, all of these performances were absolutely beautiful! I loved that we got to see so many different individuals doing what they do best. Being themselves and having a good read. Enjoy.
Hope people who came for them watched it all. I found letters live by chance a few months ago and absolutely love it. It keeps showing up on my timeline. Some letters I've heard serval times and they're brilliant every time
Love the letter to Elvis from the girls in Montana. That being said I'm from Montana and we're way up North and really don't have a Southern accent. I do thank you for the wonderful letters and the wonderful peoples reading them. Keep up the good work...from a fan in Montana..
That was really enjoyable. A fantastic collection of letters bringing laughter and tears. Looking forward to being able to see a performance in person again soon. Thank you!
Just beautiful and brilliant! Almost 5 years and yet each performance feels fresh as new, every single time!! Thank you Letters Live for this fantastic compilation!!!
The letter about the barrel of bricks sounds like what started as a recitation in the 1920’s and ultimately became the song called The Sick Note (which is even funnier).
thank you so much for this, I have loved the little bits of Letters Live I have been able to see on the internet, though I will probably never make it to a live event. This is a very special thing you all do. What a treat to hear so many of the letters all in one program.
Hello good evening and lovely greetings from Austria. I hope you all are in best health conditions. I miss this show in real so much. Hopefully we soon can see it in London again. 🥰
This was glorious♡♡ have never been able to make it to a live version of the show but many friends have. Thank you for doing this and supporting the good cause xxxx
Jordan Andersons letter read by Clark Peters is the best and most intelligent 'why don't you go fuck yourself' letter I've ever heard. Please could you publish this on it's own so that it gets more exposure.
Just came home from a long work day. Elisabeth Taylors letter to her cat came up. It made me tell my cats how much I love them 😻😻. Did she ever find her cat?
The story of Delmore the cat was read by another man I think.. I can’t recall if it was his same accent or not… maybe it was. The guy who read it read it so smoothly it played off the hilarious mess of some of the situation.

Her guilty look at her southern accent. 💐😄
For those of us who could never get to this in the flesh, l thank you.
Refugees, no matter from where only want to live. This letter speaks across time and space.
I’m here for Tom Hiddleston. Anyone else?
Loved Jude Law's New York accent when he was reading his letter! So entertaining!

Sorry no matter how good the accent and the delivery, everyone should listen to the original Hoffmann, no comparison

8:26 man, That „Please, come back!“ is really something I relate to, owning free-reigning cats is not for the faint-heartedy
Jourdon Anderson's letter (read by Clarke Peters) was so cleverly written. Pure wit. A delight to listen to.
Benedict is one of the greatest humans that i know !
Burst of laughter when Jude Law read the bricks... i mean the letter 🤣
O my, the letter read by Miriam Margolyes, and read so well

1:18 "This is not a letter, but my arms around you for a brief moment." - Katherine Mansfield
The EMOTION in the reading of the letter at 30:19 can not help but touch the coldest heart.
Such eloquence on behalf of all refugees.

Benedict Cumberbatch I love you!!!!!!!💖💖💖💖💖💖💖
20:15 Best letter I’ve listened to in a long long time
As an English Learner, watching the letter lives helps me learn
Benedict!!!!!!
Jude Law’s letter is a letter version of an Irish Song, called Murphy and the Bricks!
The Corries did a very funny version of this 🤣🤣
I’v just found these videos and i’m Sad to have missed so much however, i’m now pleased that I can enjoy so much.
That was really enjoyable. A fantastic collection of letters bringing laughter and tears. Looking forward to being able to see a performance in person again soon. Thank you!

This was a legendary performance by Gerard Hoffnung

So groovy how the readers add something of their own to each letter ❤ readers + the words = something entirely new
These were such amazing performances! The humor, the love and the depth of passion! Each of them a testament of lives.

Great voice spoiled by the piano. Favourite letter, the reply of the former slave. Favourite reader, Benedict ,of course.

30:05 is the most eloquent written word in the world
Outstanding. Words are not enough, so much passion and hope. Thank you.

That letter read by Hassan Akkad 😭😭. I wish I could donate, but it's said that I can't do that from my country
Just ordinary people in pursuit of a normal life. 😭😭😭 ❤ for Syria.
This was glorious♡♡ have never been able to make it to a live version of the show but many friends have. Thank you for doing this and supporting the good cause xxxx

I was thinking the same thing. ❤

The Nick Cave letter is excellent!
¡Oh, Hiddleston! Hermoso y precioso Hiddleston, lo amo
I love Olivia Coleman.
Jude Law!!!!!!
Tom 💕
The story of Delmore the cat was read by another man I think.. I can’t recall if it was his same accent or not… maybe it was. The guy who read it read it so smoothly it played off the hilarious mess of some of the situation.
I thought Benedict did it too. I was looking for this as well as Woody harrelson who said s….😂 instead of poop
BENEDICT IS SO TALENT
The one about the brick accident is remakably close to a well known old folk song.
Thank you! :)
Who's here for tom hiddleston?
I love the image of an elderly Ulster woman telling her friend to fuck off. And then writing to someone to tell them about it.
Jude Law’s bit was probably the basis for the song Sick Note, performed, among others, by The Dubliners
Listen to it, it’s hilarious 😂
benedictttttt i love youuuuuuu
OLIVIA ❤❤❤
Benedict ❣️❣️❣️❣️❣️❣️❣️
Beautimus 🎶🌌💟
Omg Olivia colman
Jude Law sounded like Jason Alexander with that accent!
I wonder if the Fred Allen letter is the basis for The Dubliner's "The sick note" ? AKA "Why Paddy's not at work today"
This is the song, The Sick Note by Sean Cannon The Dubliners that Jude Law is reading is it not?
