Depreciation should be variable cost because if we manufacture more products then we will use more machines so it should depreciate more because of more use? But in many books I have studied it as a fixed cost why?

It's just a matter of recording ...i.e consistency..the rate of depreciation is based on the normal usage(life of plant according to it's use) of the plant n machinery....so the wear n tear of plant depends on the normal capacity utilisation..which depreciation covers...yea you can take the dep rate according to it's wear n tear..just you have to explain enough that it represents the more accurate info...yeah..so far as recording it's been assigned on some rates hecne seen as fixed cost..
