Just did it and it TOTALLY WORKED... such a big smile on my face to see all GREEN lights on my panel. Don't know you my friend. But I LOVE YOU right now!!! 👍🏽🤗😍😎Thank you times a trillion...
What about the oil service light I have a 1988 BMW E30 I guess that's the same thing anyways it works!!! So when will it start resetting itself back into yellow and then read again is it by miles or time could you let me know thank you
Thanks for sharing and sending the email news letter.......I just completed Timing Belt, Plugs and Valve Adjustment, Painted Valve Cover which I have been procrastinating way too long. It was the first time, and I finally mustarded up the nerve and time to do this. I was way over due on the time side - 8 years....but mileage probably not much over (for the valves), just 20k miles since the last service. The valves were tight but not horrible - .007 being the tightest. The timing belt was fair shape given 8 yrs old. No cracks on the teeth/ribbing. One or two nicks on the side. The ribbing was starting to show through to the flat side of the belt. No Threads exposed or showing I admitted I was playing "Russian Roulette" every time I started and run the car. The last 2 year I probably only put 200 miles on it and drove it once a month. In all fairness I live in the Southeast. We have mild winters and our summers are humid. I attribute the condition of the belt to few miles, non-aggressive driving and the humid mild climate.
hey, could you explain to me how inspection, oil service and this little clock between them were designed to work? Does it use any sensors or is it just a time based remainder to visit a service/change oil?
what about the brake fluid? is the sensor on the brake fluid tank and its turned on when your brake fuid lower than it should be? i dont have ABS on my E30 tho..
Hello, thanks a lot for the video, in my case the handbrake light stay on even when I take it off, could you please tell me how can I fix this? Thanks in advance
Do you have to switch the cap??im planning on doing this in the morning when I wake up. Also can I use copper wires? Or which one? Thank you in advance once again
Ask your emissions facility. In Connecticut the ABS light is irrelevant as it’s not emissions related. Besides, e30’s are so old they’re also emissions exempt. You may fail a state safety inspection if your state does that kind of thing. This won’t clear the ABS code. You’ll need to diagnose it and resolve the core issue.
+Raymond you can use pretty much any small gauge wire to jump the pins, as you're simply creating an electrical connection between pins. I used a piece of scrap copper audio wire from the original radio plug from this E30.
I have 1989 e30 325i convertible with number go to 20 but 19 is hollow i think i put 7 in the right position but other end on the wrong end now my oil service indicator still on. but car start but won't stay on like fuel is not geting in the engine ..what that i did wrong and how i fix the problem i disconect the battery to let computer reset but still nothing i hope i didn't burn the computer...please help
I have a m10 e30 i dont have the round diagnostic port like in this video... where do i find my diagnostic port its a 1985 model 318i chrome bumber please help iv serviced the car so i want to reset the lights.
I have a 1984 e30 318i, I've been trying to find a way to reset my service light too but all the tutorials are for models with the diagnostic port. Mines doesn't have it like yours. Did you by any chance figure this out? I know it's been 3 years haha
@@sidewayzbimmer4658 yes i found the way... the port is more or less the same place. Mine has like a red cap on it. Can u send a picture then i can show u exactly were it is
@@sidewayzbimmer4658 it sits above the alternator should just have a red cap on.. looks similar to the ones in the videos just smaller and u can use the same method with the same numbers (referring to the hole numbers)
that's just a reminder to hit the check button on the overhead panel next to the sunroof crank handle. it could be saying a light is out, fluid is low, etc.
I actually can pull up the codes on my OBD scanner it only works if I do it manually though, by the way when you reset this inspection how long before the yellow and red comes back is it done by Miles and if so how many?

My BMW E30 is 325is 1990. This method worked beautifully. Thank you !!
Thanks for the show it's help me a lot to reset my inspection lights back on now. Thank you, Bro.

Towig93 it is based on mileage, not a very advanced system by today’s standards
does i have to be a wire or can i use a paper clip
My Jiffy Lube no longer has the tool from BMW to do this, but now I can DIY it. Best signal/noise post on YT, thanks!
I saved this on my playlist.
This is the only video I need for this.👍🏼
What will happen if you have a tuned e30 325i ? Will it mess with you’re tune??
Wether or not your ECU has an engine tuning chip or not will not be effected by this.
Very good video and good explanation of how to do this
Very great help thx soo much
this is how I reset the light back in high school, when the service light tools were $150. It was a lot of money back then!
@@BIMMERZEITTthx soo much
Tried this on My e30, worked perfect!
Great to hear Theo!
I like that this said the PIN numbers. Thanks!
Great. Will this clear a check engine light?
Kudos!! This worked on my 1987 E30 M3.
My 87325E has 1-14 so what numbers would I use?
Can a multimeter be used to do this? I don’t have any spare wires around
bro, whats that orange sensor in the midle of brake fluid&battery indicators?
Anti-lock aka ABS light
what about the brake fluid? is the sensor on the brake fluid tank and its turned on when your brake fuid lower than it should be? i dont have ABS on my E30 tho..

Is it the same for 1985 323i?
Im missing the cap on mine... also my break lining light kept flashing on and off and now it just stays on. Used to flash on the freeway. Any ideas?
I don’t have the 19 pin. Mine is early model it’s a 1985 323i. Which pins would mine be?
Hey! Pop onto r3vlimited forums and ask or search there. You’ll find an answer very fast. Sorry I don’t have the answer for your application!
Do you have to switch the cap??im planning on doing this in the morning when I wake up. Also can I use copper wires? Or which one? Thank you in advance once again
Would the pins be the same on my 89 316i?
Does the red check engine light always turn on
Works perfectly on m40b16!
i did this but nothing happened on my 1988 e30 325i. the 3 green lights (originally 3 lit) remain lit and no reet is done. what happened?
What do you do if it won't reset
I just bought an e30 it has the anti lock light on. I don’t think it’ll pass emissions with it on. Would this help clear that?

On my 1984, 318 Carb, it was pin 7 and 12.
Steven Toner thanks for adding this for others with early models!
Is it the same for my year
how to do it right? ia it using scanner?
Worked like a charm
Does the wire type matter
No, so long as the size fits the terminals to make contact with each pin
Hi I have 1984 325e
With a different services port
I have an 85 325e with a different service port as well. Do you know how to reset it?
thanks for the great tip 👍👍
I will like to know what type of wire you used to reset it
+Raymond you can use pretty much any small gauge wire to jump the pins, as you're simply creating an electrical connection between pins. I used a piece of scrap copper audio wire from the original radio plug from this E30.
Fantastic ! Thanks for the tip

This is a great tip! Now, what about CHECK CHECK CHECK CHECK CHECK CHECK?!
that's just a reminder to hit the check button on the overhead panel next to the sunroof crank handle. it could be saying a light is out, fluid is low, etc.
@@BIMMERZEITT OK.. learned another thing! Thanks for the reply! So basically once all the lights on your check panel are out, it will stop flashing?
Thanx mate!

Same here, did you figure this out? Mine was swapped for the M20B25.
id pull the bulb out of the cluster at that point XD
ON AN E30 IS DOING THE STOMP TEST THE ONLY WAY TO GET THE FAULT CODES? THANKS!
