I watched this video in the year 11 summer after finishing GCSEs. I was excited to start sixth form and really do well in my A levels. I'm writing this during my A level exam season. I have many regrets. I remember on the first few days of year 12, I really started to get into the academic swing of things, but then it changed when I got arrogant due to finding stuff easy, and boasting my GCSE grades to myself. I had great friends during my time at sixth form, I'm grateful for the people I've met, but sometimes you have to put yourself first. Don't be as arrogant as I was. from then on out, I didn't try in lessons, I didn't do homework, I didn't try on any exams and I completely forgot the advice in this video. I didn't do as well as I liked in my UCAS exams, meaning I wasn't able to apply to the universities I wanted to. I'm sitting here, at the end of year 13, regretting the decisions I made in the past two years. I'm scrambling to get any good grades I can, as I do Maths, Physics and Computer Science, arguably difficult subjects. I hope that I can start fresh in university and try this advice again. Make sure to keep on top of your homework, try in every lesson and such. I prioritised my social life instead of balancing it out and seeing the merit in sixth form. It will be the final years of your somewhat mandatory school life, so make the most of it.
what grades did you get in ucas
@xqnack8237 I got BCD in Physics, Computer Science and Mathematics.
@@mahamedsharif126 B in physics is impressive. thanks tho
I'm really grateful that there are students out there that tell us these things even though they do not have to at all and can just completely move on with their lives
and I'm grateful that there are lovely comments like these from kind people like yourself :)
Bro what I just saw you at the park
Was there a family reunion or smth
maths, physics, biology, chemistry and epq?? bro are you good?
I don't know what I was thinking! 😂
I am going to be doing the same subjects that you are. Could you do a video on how to revise and study in A levels.
I’m doing all except physics and I’m terrified
@@irrelevance3859 good luck !!
@@irrelevance3859 so was I. Until I realised this is just sixth form and there are going to be bigger things in life to be “terrified” about.
Life saver thank you, this is exactly the type of video I was looking for. I’m starting a sixth form in September and I’m only aware of like 3 people I know that are going, I’ve decided to do geology, physics, maths and further maths so I’m really trying to prepare my mindset before this new beginning. Thank you for the advice :)
Great to hear! Thats a tough bunch of choices, I'm sure you will do amazingly 👍 goodluck and you got this!
how are you doing, Julia?

No problem, thank you for your comment! Goodluck in your a-levels!
Its okay im 18 and just started A levels as well❤️
@@leviackerman3033 omg Levi Ackerman hi!
i start sixth form literally tomorrow in a new school and i have been feeling quite nervous about everything, especially experiencing the 'making friends' process again, the part where you talk about friendships calm me down a little bit so thank you for that! keep up with the great content!
Honestly the best piece of unsolicited advice I can give you is this: you know how you’re nervous? Stressing? Thinking everybody is judging you? Guess what: everybody is thinking the same thing. Everybody is the centre of their own world and are way too focused on themselves to worry about what you’re doing. I say this with full certainty, go out there tomorrow at your new school and be open minded, you owe it to yourself. Don’t go in with a negative mindset because that will affect how your day goes. And lastly, good luck, you’ll do great!
@@Izzy-if4ww wow! thank you so so so much!! i'll try my best to have a positive mindset and remind myself about your advice tomorrow! thank you for making my night. (for me haha) :)
Same!! I’m going to a new school and I’m scared because it’s a completely different environment and a fresh start

I start sixth form on Monday and I'm taking graphics, film studies and history. I'm happy with my choices as I find it very difficult to get motivated, so I knew I wouldn't be able to handle four subjects and chose subjects that I would enjoy/find interesting. it is quite difficult to find advice on these courses at a level though, but I guess I'll find out what they're like in school.. good luck to any other soon to be year 12s watching :) also hope ur gcse results went well!!!
I’m now a y13 taking graphics and I love it! let me know if you have any questions because I know I had the same thing last year :)
i start on monday too and i’m doing graphic design, tv & film and criminology :] i actually chose interactive media and applied psychology instead of the last two but my sixth form told me very last minute that they don’t teach them anymore lmao bruh, so i was forced to choose tv & film by a teacher and then i chose criminology on my own since it’s always interested me. i find it really hard to get motivated too so i hope these subjects don’t drain me that much. good luck!!
Are you doing OCR for history?
I start on wednesday and i'm doing, modern history, applied psych and politics, hope all goes well !
I’m in y11 I’m going my gcse soon 😭 soo scared too

My siblings are in dental school and one did chem, bio, psychology whereas the other did chem, bio and maths and the one who did maths really regret it saying it wasnt worth the effort if she could have done psychology and had a easier time- so i want to do medicine so i planned on doing the same subjects as you but them and alot of medics told me its not worth it and you dont need maths so ive decided chem, bio and psychology :) 💕 creds to you for doing 4 alevel its amazing that your handling them so good

@@JadenYee Update: I am now starting year 13 in 2 days time and so far, I am still very much enjoying my subjects, especially computer science; Despite how difficult it still is. My Ucas prediction grade is currently at an AAA. So in conclusion, so far so good😀
Had my first day of sixth form today & got this video on my recommended 😭😭
Ahh, it's still fine since you will spend most of the first few weeks adjusting!
I'm going to start Year 12 this September, still doing my GCSEs but I'm already curious what sixth form would be like. This was very helpful, thank you but now I'm really nervous haha...
Goodluck!
If I’m looking into doing a course where I need AAA, what do you think I should be aiming to get in my end of y12 exams? Also, could you do videos on how you revised for maths and physics please?
You should aim to get somewhere around BBB as predicted grades used will normally be your mock grades +1. Yes, I will do videos on these!
amazing really helpful video God bless u
Glad you found it useful!
When should you start revising for the entrance exams and also could you do a video on how you prepared/ revised for them. Thank you 😊
Sure thing, I already have a video on the UCAT which explains most of it but I only have experience in the UCAT which I started revising properly about a month before my exam. People also spend roughly that much time revising for the BMAT too. I'll make more in depth videos in the future!
This is so helpful! I'm starting year 12 in September, and honestly don't know anything about it. Also I'm going to a new sixth form and don't know anyone I'm literally scared to death.
Thank you! Yeah, starting fresh can be quite intimidating, don't worry, everyone tries to make new friends at the beginning so you won't be alone at all. 👍

Damn Man you really worked hard. All the sciences, maths and epq that must have been a lot of stress. When would be best to look for courses for engineering or computer science and who would be the best people to ask?
Thanks, it was definitely not easy 😂. I would say the best time to look for courses is the next possible time you have free time! You may want to look on uni websites for general offered grades and what they require in general. I would ask your school career supervisor if you have one or just email around companies etc for work experience placements or advice if necessary.
I start sixth form tomorrow and I have been having so much anxiety especially since I don’t know what to do as a career. Thank you this video really helped!

Great video bro, do u need to be solid on GCSE content before A levels, because I’ve forgotten everything due to our extended holiday
Thanks! You just need to have a decent foundation and hopefully not forget everything at GCSE. A-level content is different so you will learn different things to what you thought were correct at GCSE, I wouldn't worry 👍
going into year 12 on Monday (sociology, media, rs) and i’m pretty nervous, but i’m excited for something different than high school 😊
That's great! Goodluck and enjoy it!
@@JadenYee thank you!
Great video! I was wondering whether or not you can give me any advice regarding revision techniques as I am still unsure as to what works best for me 🙁 keep up the great content!!
Yes I will make a video on this in the near future but maybe mind maps, blurting all your knowledge on paper and seeing what you missed, flashcards, trying to teach hard concepts to friends/family who no nothing about it. I will make videos about the importance of using active recall (testing yourself) and spaced repetition (gradually going back over content so you don't forget it completely)
@@JadenYee Thank you! 🙂
thank youuu
No problem 👍
Thank you for this amazing video!! Do you think it’s possible to professionally train as an athlete and get good grades?
Yes of course, there are many examples of that happening and some have youtube channels! Training will probably help boost your grades since you have a more balanced lifestyle and you gain so much discipline and advantages which can be used to study! 👍
Goodluck!
@@JadenYee Thank you!!
Thank you so much 😁 this was very helpful. What would you say was the hardest part of sixth form, and how did you overcome it?
Great to hear! Thank you for the nice words! My hardest part of sixth form was definitely keeping up with the workload and added pressure of year 13.
Since we were in lockdown most of the time we had to learn most of the new content ourselves which was a lot tougher. I found that online lessons were not enough to fully understand the content so had regular sessions with friends online to try and learn/revise together. This also helped with motivation and meant that we could deal with this pressure together!
This might be completely different to what you will experience so don't worry! 😃
@@JadenYee Thank you so much I'll definitely take your experience into account and create a study group as well. I start sixth form at a new school this September so this video was so helpful. 😁
Good video
Thank you so much!
Thank you very much! Any advice for someone who has a limited time to study?
Try to create a good revision time table which isn't really based on the amount time studying. I will make a video on this so be sure to stay awake! It will be about retrospective revision timetables and how you can use them effectively to revise.
Im not sure if you'll see this but yeah.. through gcse my knowledge and involvement wasn't the best, however somehow i got into Sixth-form. As someone who honestly doesn't know how to revise i just wanted to ask you if you think my plan is ok ;D is taking notes throughout lesson and recalling then developing them after the right thing to do? If so when do i go over the information to make sure its retained? :) sorry to ask a fat question :(
Hi! I try to look at most comments! Yes, so I would look up active recall and spaced repetition in studying but I might make a video like this! Taking notes for most people doesn't retain information, you need to first understand the content and then try and learn/memorise it.
Testing yourself is a great way to do this, using things like past papers, flashcards and other methods of recall are useful.
To make sure it is retained, you need to do this over a long period of time, it will be different for each person but this is an example: go over content/test yourself 1 day after you learn it, 3 days after, 1 week after, 3 weeks after etc.
Hope this has helped a bit although you may find other methods of revision more useful!
Thank you for this video! I’m starting at a completely new sixth-form tomorrow, and I’m not the best at talking to people, so I am a little nervous. Would you say sixth-form brought you out a little more, in regards to others your age?
I’m going to a new sixth form. I’m not particularly confident I’ve never had a issue making friends. I’m just worried about like what if the teacher isn’t good and makes me hate the subject. Because your subject depends on your teacher he/she will either make you love it or hate it
That's no problem at all, loads of people will be nervous and have many worries themselves. I would definitely say most people mature in sixthform in terms of increases in confidence and speaking to others. Go in the first few weeks with an open mind and you'll do great 👍
Jaden, how did you decide that you wanted to do dentistry? I'm so torn between my subjects because of what career paths I'm considering.
Really helpful video!
What work experience do you recommend getting for dentistry? (I’ve got quite a lot of work experience suited for medicine but I’m not sure if it can be applied to dentistry)
Thank you! That is a good question since medicine work experience cannot be used in most dentistry scenarios!
When dental practices start opening themselves backup for work experience placements, I would email as many as possible near you asking for a couple of days experience. Try to get a range of exposure such as general dentistry and other specialities like orthodontists and maxillofacial surgery as examples. 👍
@@JadenYee Thank you so much! Keep up the good work with these videos!!
the more interest you in the subjects you take the less discipline you will require to an extent
Great video and advice. I've been struggling to decide between my school's sixth form and a college that's a bit further away. Part of me wants to stay at my sixth form cause my friends are there and I don't want to grow distant from people. But part of me wants to go to a new college to meet new people and face a new challenge. I don't want to just be stuck inside my own bubble I guess.
Thank you! That sounds like a tough problem. I would say that even if you stay where you are, you would still meet so many new people like I did whilst keeping your close friends. But even if you go to another college, you could still keep contact with your friends although it would be harder.
It depends what you want the most and what you are looking for since sixth form is only 2 years. Do you want to mostly meet new people and face new challenges or do you want to maintain your current circle of people?
I would write out a list of pros and cons for each side and then maybe try to discuss it with teachers and other people if you need more opinions.
Hope this has helped a bit! Goodluck in your decision, I'm sure both options are great.👍
Don’t know if it’ll help but other people will be in the same position I decided to go to a 6th form where I only know one person, opposed to many at the other because I want new people and the ability to change my ways from year 11 and people not to think it’s just a phase of trying really hard. :))
fancy seeing ya here, ashraf😀😀
@@melisa6609 uhmmmm😶
You need good teachers, my nearby college is rated "outstanding" by ofsted yet the teachers are bad
Currently studying maths, physics and economics at A-level. How far into year 12 should I be doing past papers? Looking to achieve a-a* in each. Thanks in advance!
Really depends on what you want to do but I would recommend doing them for revision for upcoming tests/exams. But usually, you want to be doing practice qus any time you learn something new!
Congrats on 100 subs!👏
Hope to achieve the same!
Thank you soo much!! Goodluck with your channel! 👍
any tips on how to organise folders in sixth form? i'm not sure what i'm going to need to buy.
Will be doing a sixth form essentials video very soon! In summary, I would get 1 big folder for each subject and have a day folder like unjaded jade suggests to organise all your lessons you have each day. Go watch her video for more info about it, I used that and it was very useful!
Hey, I've just started at sixth form and am taking biology, chemistry, core maths and physics (similar to what you did), but I'm not sure about continuing chemistry and might change it to Maths. Any advice?
Hi, if you already know which course you want to do then I would look at the university requirements for the subjects required and that may help you to decide. Otherwise I think everyone will experience different subjects differently but I would ask yourself why you are not sure about continuing chemistry and want to start maths. You could always talk to your teachers for their opinions but these are early days for sixth form so another alternative is that you wait a little while longer to see if anything changes.
Hi, I am sort of in a very similar situation to yours. I just sat my gcses and am predicted all 9s in physics, chem, maths and bio. I’m sooo torn between an astrophysics route or medicine and thus was thinking of picking all 4 of them as a levels with no epq. Any suggestions on what i can do to lessen the stress or should i consider dropping one ? Thanks for the video , it was very informative.
omgg im going into y12 soon and i also want to go into dentistry :) im choosing bio , maths and psychology (kings and some unis dont require bio&chem) what do you think i should do in terms of impressing dentistry uni's??
Very nice to hear a fellow dentist!
This is a good video topic so will make 1 in the future but I would definitely focus on work experience and teamworking activities which you can talk a lot about. Note down what you learnt from the work experience and what you can reflect on.
Your personal statement is extremely important as well which I will be making a video series on!
Goodluck 👍

@nikta i’m taking those exact same subjects! i’ve just started but how did you find them?
Thanks for this video! I’m stil quite uncertain about my career choice, I just finished yr 11 and for a levels picked chem, bio and psychology, but I don’t want to go into medicine? So is there any other career choices I could take with science ?
U could go into forensic
There are soooo many choices you have. I didn't know what I wanted to do until the end of Yr12 so you are still absolutely fine. This is a big decision so make sure to do research and work experience at anything you might find interesting. Look up videos on youtube like day in the life's etc.
Examples from the top of my head are: Dentistry, pathology, biochem, bioengineering, chemengineering and there are soo many more. Make sure to look around :)
@@JadenYee brother what course could I get into by doing psychology law and buisness
hey thank u so much for the video, ill be taking bio, physics, chemistry as a private candidate, any advice on that
Thank you for your kind words! I don't have much experience in terms of your situation but I would assume that the basics would apply except you will just have to find more resources on your own which is not a huge issue. There are great resources like physics and maths tutor, youtube etc which will be able to help if you have any problems!
Oh gosh that’s so bad with the amount of exams in year 12. Thank you so so much for the information cuz they don’t tell me that in school and I didn’t know😭 also because of the workload in year12 do you think revising over the summer before the yr 12 will help?
You're welcome! Honestly, I think it's fine if you don't revise over the summer but just make sure you don't forget the basics in each subject!
I start tomorrow, Biology Psychology and Media, really hope this goes well
Enjoy sixth form!
great video! what subjects did you take if u dont mind
He took maths physics chemistry biology and epq
^
This doesn’t really matter but I was just wondering, do the teachers make you sit in a dedicated seating plan or do they just allow you to sit wherever?
Depends on school, wherever usually
Yes it depends on who really, for us we could choose pretty much every class!
I really want to go to dental school but I heard some universities require maths or physics🥲 I’m not good at physics idk what to do:(
Most universities that do dentistry don't require maths of physics I found. They usually want chemistry and atleast 1 other science as a general rule so you don't be forced into doing something you don't want to!
I'm taking the same a levels
Goodluck!
@@JadenYee thanks!
could you please do a video on careers and uni courses that you can use with maths and physics? im starting my a-levels and I literally have no idea what I need to pick
Yes this is a possible video idea! In the meantime, you can do your own research on uni websites and clicking the courses and seeing entry requirements for them
