  • Martinez M1 hammer first impressions and comparison to Stiletto T15. This is my first look at the new Martinez hammer!! As of this video I'm currently using the hammer with a smooth face. Once I have used the hammer long enough to get a good feel for it I will do another video on what I liked and disliked. Also it will be used by my guys to get their opinions on it and try to get a balanced review.

    Just thought I'd give you guys a little update. Two of the guys had a claw break off last week. They had both been prying by jamming the claw in and twisting sideways. They both were pulling for all they had. They were working together prying the same two pieces apart. The one broke immediately and the other broke the next day when he tried to twist a eye hook open. Both were given new heads under warranty. So they are standing behind there product! We are often accused of beaking things on tools that no other crews do so hopefully this is the case again! The handle did NOT bend so that's great to see. My brother in laws new stilettos handle came apart in the first two weeks of framing! His spare stiletto is currently away getting regripped. So he bought a Martinez. One thing that is a big bonus with the Martinez is for warranty you can go to your tool store and they give you a new head or grip and your ready to roll. Normally it's between 3-4 weeks to get a stiletto back so you'll need a spare hammer. Conclusion it disappointing they broke but Martinez has handled it well. We're still more the happy with switching from stiletto. You'll probably not break your claw under normal use.

      The thing with stilettos is when they regrip you don't get your hammer back you get one with similar wear. That is what is stated on their site. Martinez you can buy a replacement grip and have it fairly quick. Both are good hammers but for me the Martinez is a better option in my opinion.

      It's very difficult to cast Titanium without the risk of air bubbles, hence creating a potential weakness

      @@BillyMustang101 the claw broke not the Ti. Handle. The head assembly is made of steel. Though you can get a Ti. Head that doesn't seem to be the case in this video. Just an FYI

      Yeah you can’t replace the handle or claws when they break bud. Therefore Martinez is #1 hammer.

    Martinez actually designed the Stiletto hammer with the magnet in the head and the first titanium hammer. Martinez acquired the Stiletto name in the late 90's and released the first titanium hammer in 98'. Stiletto was sold to Milwaukee and now Martinez has released his own line of hammers under his own name.

    Any issues with the stiletto claws chipping or breaking during demo?

    • @gingrichconstruction7242
      @gingrichconstruction7242  7 років тому

      No chipping yet it is just like any quality steel hammer. It is better then ti that we can see already. I have never seen a claw completely break off on a stiletto though either. I have seen one at the tool store that had broken but it's not common and steel does break too. But there is a significant difference in chipping and the claw getting shorter.

    So you said the M1 is roughly an inch shorter than the Stiletto, but you don't know where weight was saved? --facepalm-- Mark even states that's where it was saved. I own both hammers, the Stiletto since 2013, and the M1 since 2017. The M1 also has the "ass end" to move bottom plates and other things with less effort than what the Stiletto needed to move things.

      Inco-gneito I’m new to building. What do you mean by this? The bottom end meaning the handle moves bottom plates? I’m just trying to learn. Thank you

    I'm not exactly sure but the beam on the Martinez works as a wrench run the bolt head on the beam until it tightens then turn and it loosens and tightens I'm not sure if that's its intended purpose but it works for me really well with brackets on stakes for depressions

    hi, I was just about to buy a stiletto hammer until I seen your video. am I correct in saying that the founder of stiletto hammers has made recent improvements and had come up with a new hammer, one that had an all STEEL head a posed to a full titanium hammer? and that it even has a sloped head like the HART brand and even with the steel head it still weight the same as the stiletto?
    if thats all true then I guess id be better off purchasing the latest version. can this be purchased on a stiletto website or is it sold under his name_ mantinez? I live in Ireland and if someone could please tell me where I can get one closer to home that would be fantastic. Daniel

      Yes this hammer was designed by Mark Martinez the same guy who designed the stiletto. But he sold the stiletto brand to Milwaukee. The Martinez is in compation to stiletto! Contact Occidental Leather www.bestbelt.com or if you have a dealer over there for occidental they can get you one. At this point to my knowledge Occy is the exclusive dealer. I'm sure you will like it we are at 3 on the crew now with more just waiting till there stiletto is toast.

      Daniel O'Connell had both and just switched to M1 last month. Difference is day and night, retail (in canada) is 230 from hardware store here as opposed to 280 for stilletto but i already like the M1 better. I ordered mine directly from martineztools.com for 250 with shipping and it came in just over a week. Would highly reccomend, as a framer who uses it all day.

      Pat Maloney. Accent? Not sure what your talking about I listened to it again I can't hear it lol!! It would be a German accent. Or rather a dialect of German. I'm a Mennonite so more commonly known as a Mennonite accent. I try but you'll notice that my words aren't in the right order always as well. I had wondered how soon someone would ask! There's no offence to be asking I'm not ashamed of who I am.
