Acuity of care has transitioned in this country to where patients who generally require PCU/Step down are on Med Surge floors and it's hell and high water getting them transferred. PCU typically has 4 patients Med Surge is dealing with 5-7. Which means Med Surge nurses are dealing with much more stress and paid the least of all specialties.
