I'm Tamilian and was working in Delhi during 2013 when this movie trailer got released. Many of my teammates asked me how come Tamil people accepted Dhanush as a hero bcoz he is not a hero material. I told them to wait and watch the movie and then criticise him. Once the movie got released and media were praising Dhanush's acting and my teammates were spell bound!!

I did recommend the name Dhanush couple of months ago to my sister in law as their boy also Sagittarius, but they went with name Dhruv and when I had my son I named him Dhanush...no one in Family liked it even my husband skeptical like he is born in Canada....but I was firm and here we have Dhanush who is 6 yrs now. Well I am huge fan of Anand L Rai since Tanu Wed Manu so I went for Ranjhana for him but fall in love with screen name Dhanush and his acting on screen.

The producers should re-release this movie in 2024. It was just a cinematic genius. Still can't get over Dhanush's acting, strong script, melancholic Rahman sir & a superb star cast. The end scene with Dhanush's voice in the background still gives me goosebumps.

God, I love Javed's voice, and Rahman's music is magical.
A lot of my friends complained that "Tum tak" words is repetitive in the song, but personally I think it's almost like as if chanting a mantra, and perfectly conveys Dhanush's obsession with Sonam in the movie.
what I loved about this movie is this dude did his own dubbing not knowing Hindi at all....that's called hard work, dedication and talent...love the Southy actors/actresses...another guy Vikram did the same thing in Raavan and David...pretty awesome

Raanjhana is one of my favorite films of this decade. Absolute masterpiece with excellent story and acting with the backdrop of Benaras. And Dhanush my God the main attraction. A fan of him since this movie. Last scene brings tears everytime. Bollywood need to produce more this kind of film

after Ranjhanaa i started with Moonu(3) watched d Telugu version as only that's available with English subtitles, i watched it twice, first time alone n second time with my bf of 5+ years.
God i did not concentrate fully, otherwise i would have cried very loudly. was just going through d story, did not cry this much at any other film, he got involved so deeply, he just rocked d character of Ram.

Absolutely superb performance from the lead actor in this film (Dhanush). Still a hard film to watch, but realistically shows how people use and hurt each other in an unrequited love scenario, and how hard it is to let go, even though you know that you should. Zoya gets all the hate in this movie, and while she deserves her fair bit, Kundan isn't faultless either. It's a good study of the line between love and obsession, human frailty, convincing yourself that unreturned love means being dedicated to someone's happiness (even though deep down you know your desires still burn), and letting the other person use you. Sure, Kundan and Zoya had a bond that kept them together somehow, but at the heart of things, it was a toxic bond.
