My first(?) exposure to this band is this video. Seriously, I do hear a sort of nascent shoegaze in that the guitars are quite effects laden and that the 3 of them offer up a palate that is only sometimes used to full effect. The whole vocal approach is a bit too clear and clean as opposed to the subsequent shoegaze esthetic. Still the volume and the relatively aggressive nature of the songs is a bit different than I was expecting. Will seek out more. Thanks OP.
Band of Susans w/ Page Hamilton, toured with Steve Albini's band Rapeman in '88-'89. Page was never the same afterwards. He soon quit the band and Helmet was born. True story.
