After listening to this song so many times over the past few years, it's safe to say it's one of my all-time favorites ever. I absolutely LOVE the duet. What I would give to see this on a stage.
I had a recurring dream for the longest time where I was a kid in a room full of adults. One of them was playing the piano and everyone seemed sad. I never thought much of it because I figured it was just a dream, but I listened to this song the night after I had it again and the bit at 1:08 really freaked me out. So I gave my parents the details of the dream, and apparently it actually was an echo from my childhood. I was recalling my grandfather's funeral, which I attended when I was four years old. Not sure why God decided to reveal that to me through your song, but I figured I'd express my thanks here.
lol i typed in youtube "dirt poor" because i kinda am, but then it added "robbins" and this song popped out. Did not regret my decision to listen to this tho :D
"I crushed my pulse against her headstone." goDAMN what a LINE!! I love how the music just HITS YOU every time he says "childhood" This dude did not have it fun and is trying to repress, repress like nobody's business. Omg it's turning into a DUET? YEEESSS *flails* I'm so giddy, it's a story! it's a STORY unraveling, my BELOVED!!! Heyyy don't cut off the fantasy so abruptly, that's just rude! (it's great, I love when music does it, it's so visceral, such a slap to the face and makes you FEEL so much so suddenly)
This is in my books, a perfect song. Amazing instrumentation, experimental yet accessible and extremely melodic, fantastic lyrics and genius use of the call and response singing to give the characters of the song unique voices.
What an absolute masterpiece. Been listening to the Raven Locks for roughly a year now and Solemn Dream will always stand out. Guys, you really outdid yourselves on this one. From start to finish absolutely perfect. The second verse gives me goosebumps regularily, wonderful choice of lyrics. The duet reminds me a lot of The Dear Hunter's "The Haves Have Naught" (anyone who does not know it, go check it out, fantastic band). Thank you Dirt Poor Robins, for this fantastic piece of music. Thank you so much.
So incredibly beautiful! This song gives me the chills whenever I listen to it, and it's just one of those songs you can only truly appreciate it's beauty when sitting down, both earbuds in, and eyes closed. Brings out the neurodivergent stimming *so* hard, which is a huge compliment, because they only come out with my favorite songs

Hey just wanted to let you know that on all of your videos, the link to your bandcamp is wrong; it's missing an 'r'. I'll send ya a PM too to make sure you guys see it! I absolutely love your music!
I think I'm a tad late, but I'm hearing a story of domestic abuse where the father possibly killed the mother in a fit of rage, and the authors dreams are the only place where he can see her still, but struggles with the fact that he can't interact with her.
I will never understand why ya'll weren't more popular. This music has such a Victorian feel to it & all of your songs tell a story.

That’s crazy! I had a similar experience so I put the idea into the song.
Magicians. Clearly. Magicians.

This is probably my favourite Dirt Poor Robins song, and also one of my favourite songs ever.

4:54 forward totally sounds like something out of a Kingdom Hearts game... totally not complaining
Fernanda Carlin i had the same feeling, so much so that i ended up with goosebumps. Strong emotions from both ends, and so wonderful to behold.
4:58 hits different
Favorite song in the album.
I wish the last minute would never end!
There is such a depth to his music... i still have yet to find a song that I *don't* love. I know this song has been out forever, but great work guys!
This music so beautiful! Can't get enough.
THIS IS SO GOOD
2:40 Is just godly
I'm so happy that these matchless beauties from act 1 are back on Spotify, I love them so much
You guys need a live album. I'd buy three.
Astonishing! The lyrics remind me of WB Yeates "A prayer for my daughter" with touches of R Frost and of course the allusion to Poe! Wow!!
Thanks a lot for your suggestions! :) Can't wait to check them out! Can you tell me more about the allusion to Poe you were speaking of?
Love it!
This sounds like a book
When and why did this leave Spotify, I love it soooo much🥺
It’s coming back. I fixed the problem but it will be a little while
@@dirtpoorrobins Glad to hear! One of my favorites as well!
