one of the big reasons Quebec was able to kill them so much is that they aren't paying attention to anything behind them. like Womble was just standing still at points where he should of took that time to look around him to check for spies and/or flankers. Because standing completely still in tf2 is a for sure way to be killed

Or you can craft them from other drops If you're feeling both cheap and impatient. (Though actually you do need a "Premium" account for that, and the easiest way to do that nowadays is to buy literally anything from the Mann Co store. You also need one for voicechat nowadays, so that sucks for F2Ps.)

The worse part about the dead ringer is not just that it takes your death. But, it puts you in the killfeed anyway as if you DID die. Gives you huge damage resistance, the speed of a scout (fastest class in the game) and fucking after burn immunity, (afterburn is the best way to find cloaked spies, as the flames still cling to them) making them damn near impossible to find, kill, or even identify a dead ringer user. It’s a complete get out of jail free card, spy mains love it, everyone else fucking hates it.

One of my favorite features of TF2 is the Strange Counters. There are special versions of most weapons with a counter which tracks your lifetime achievements with that weapon(usually kills) and changes the name as that number goes up. I will never forget the day I ran into a Sniper with what was quite literally called a SERVER CLEARING SNIPER RIFLE. At one point 4 scouts, a close quarters class, cornered him in a small room. I was first in the door and died INSTANTLY to a headshot. He proceeded to murder the other 3 with ease. Some people are just too good at that game.

  • @SSgtJ0hns0n

When Quebec said he was the worst Spy main... that is hardly a downplaying of his skills. Even a halfway decent Spy could make short work of a team filled with people unfamiliar to anti-Spy meta which as you can see here, will be _drilled into your subconscious_ after being on a receiving end of endless backstabs. Biggest tells of Spies are the hitbox blocking you from running past a 'teammate', the decloaking sounds and visuals, lack of gunfire from 'teammates', and generally suspicious activities of 'teammates' running about in places and directions they should not be.
When a normal TF2 pub team realizes there's a Spy stacking backstabs through the roof, the response is usually twofold:
    1) Everyone would be on high alert, means more awareness of their surroundings and teammates, putting their backs to walls and corners. Spy-checking is religiously enforced.
    2) Someone will be pissed enough to main Pyro for the rest of the match. He will run around setting flames upon corners, teammates and any speck of air that looks funny. Doubly so if the team is pushing an objective.
There are entire playlists and _channels_ back then dedicated to the art of Spycraft; down to the class' limits, usage of weapons/tools, map knowledge, combat exploits and literal acting classes on 'how not to be suspicious' as a disguised Spy. The Spy is often said to be the class with the highest learning curve in TF2, but those who take the time and Ls to learn how to cleverly run around as a Spy, they will most certainly become a living nightmare for the enemy team. The Spy can really play dastardly mind games with their reign of terror - and even if the enemy changes their entire strategy by employing two or three people to constantly hunt you down, the Spy still wins as that is lesser enemies focusing on the rest of your team's advance.

  • @michaelbk0076
    @michaelbk0076 3 місяці тому +3

Quebec saying that he's not that good of a spy isn't actually that far off. Womble and the others were clearly new time players when they recorded this, so none of them knew how to properly counter a spy, which is why Quebec was able to kill them so easily. Most other players however know by instinct that you have to check for a spy whenever you see ANYONE on your team. If Quebec was going up against players that actually knew how to look out for spies, I guarantee you that he wouldn't have been nearly as effective as he was.
But, that's spies whole thing. He thrives off players that aren't aware of their surroundings or don't know how he works. It's only when you get a few hours in do you start to understand how to check for spies.

In short, when you take any damage with the Dead Ringer primed (NOT lethal damage; it can only protect you to a degree. There's a few things it won't save you from), it insta-cloaks you and drops a decoy corpse. The weaknesses are that you can't cloak normally and the noise it makes upon uncloaking is pretty hard to miss, so it will become painfully obvious that a Dead Ringer Spy is around.

To be clear TF2 have no DLC items it has unlocks the drop on a system timer, I don't remember exactly how it works but just sometimes while playing you get items for free .
Now that said it does have microtransactions and TF2 is really the first BIG game that likley popuized them. You buy keys to open cases you can find or trade for. Inside the cases used to be strange weapons (normal unlockable weapons that track kills) and cosmetics but now it's pretty much just cosmetics. This is seen more like gambling than usual because you can sell these items for real world money.
I should mention some times the items are unusual which means that have a special effect like appearing to be on fire that CAN be worth hundreds and in some cases thousands of dollars.

There arent any dlc weapons. All are unlockable. Only cosmetics such as warpaints come close to being dlc.
Some weapons are acheivements while others are randomly dropped. You can also craft weapons into scrap which can be used to craft certian weapons. Same with cosmetics like miscs and hats.
The dead ringer doesnt let you go invisible but it gives you a chance to fake your death and a speed boost while in effect.
It has a loud decloak sound so make sure your safe when its deactivated and get good at disguises and pretending to be the other team when using this.
Also you can disguise as your own iirc, if you want to pretend your a freindly.
I would recommend watching lazy purple to get an idea of what classes are like along with his behind the scenes as you finish each one.
If you want info on weapons, look at soundsmiths weapon stereotypes. He plays a clip that shows the use for each weapon, the kind of players that typically gravitate for it, and you can always pull up the wiki to follow along as the weapons have very succinct weapon effects.

You can technically buy weapons from the in-game store, but it's a scam. weapons drop regularly, and are worth next to nothing on the player market. If you want, you can buy a key for $2.50, trade it for scrap (the standard trade currency in tf2), trade that for every weapon that has a unique gameplay function, and still have a ton of scrap left over.
