After taking a deliberate hiatus from releasing new music, a choice rooted in a desire to refine his craft, Komplex De Deep founder Master-H is back with a fresh three-track EP and a project that marks a new chapter for the French producer.
“I’m always working on improving in the studio, constantly searching for my signature sound,” he shares. “So I decided to pause on releasing new music and focus instead on honing my skills. It was an enlightening journey, full of highs and lows, but throughout, there was always this inner voice reminding me to ‘be real.’”
During his intensive studio sessions, H immersed himself in music, drawing inspiration from a range of influences - from Coltrane to Larry Heard. Today, we’re excited to introduce the first fruits of these Master-H sessions: a three-track EP that embodies the Komplex De Deep ethos of delivering electronic music with soul.
The title track, “Be Real,” sets the tone with its rich, warm pads, crisp claps, and striking keys. Channeling the sophistication of Mr. Fingers and the raw energy of Omar S, H embraces a less-is-more approach, allowing the tracks space to breathe and reveal their depth.
With his Tempest drum machine fired up, H intensifies his “Raw” version of the title track, before unveiling the powerful “Channel Pressure.” Originally a 30-minute sketch as he experimented with polymetric chord and rhythm patterns, the track was eventually trimmed, refined, and prepped for the dance floor.
