  • Nadopasakas - features the Brinda Muktha Duo, The torchbearers of the Padam and Javali forms of Composition.
Having learnt under the Gudance of Kanchipuram Sri Naina pillai and the Legendary Veena Dhanammal their grand Mother, the sisters present a crisp an Admirable Padam in Mukhari, A raga that Portrays Pathos.
    From Wikipedia :
Thanjavur Brinda (1912-1996) was one of the representatives of the Veenai Dhanammal school of Carnatic Music.Brinda had much of her initial training from her mother Kamakshi. This training was in the Veenai Dhanammal style, a style of Carnatic Music known for its unhurried, alluring movements, as also for its use of intricate gamakas (graces) in the handling of ragas (modes). Additionally, Brinda trained for a substantial length of time under Kanchipuram Naina Pillai, whose style of music was marked by agility and robustness in laya (rhythm) Brinda absorbed both the sublime and intricate Dhanammal style and Naina Pillai's fast paced masculine music and blended them seamlessly into her singing.
Her peers and music connoisseurs regarded her as a person of superlative musical knowledge. She was an expert at rendering ragas that featured complex patterns and subtle gamakas, such as Begada, Mukhari, Sahana, Suruti, Varali and Yadukulakambhoji. She was a repository of Kshetrayya padams and javalis
Many talented and popular musicians were attracted by Brinda's musical scholarship and expertise, and trained under her. Carnatic Musicians such as Sangeetha Kalanidhis Semmangudi Srinivasa Iyer, M.S. Subbulakshmi and R K Srikanthan have learnt from her. The musicians Ramnad Krishnan, Aruna Sairam, Chitravina Ravikiran, B. Krishnamoorthy Chitravina Ganesh, K. N. Shashikiran, Kiranavali Vidyasankar, and B. Balasubrahmaniyan have been Brinda's full-time students.
Brinda received many awards, including the Sangeetha Kalanidhi award, considered the highest honour for a Carnatic musician, in 1976.

The duo maintained uniformly high standard through their career. The kalapramana perticularly for a Padam and in a Raga like Mukhari is to be noted and admired.

The stately gait and the astute handling of an intricate raga like Mukhari make this rendition very enjoyable. Brinda's throat is giving her some trouble making the much vaunted fluidity of her delivery suffer a tad.
    Tnx 4 sharing

Lovely ! Kashiki poyyene. ragA: mukhAri. tripuTa tALA. Composer: Muttu Natesar.
The Kshetrayya padam "Ososi" is a gem in ragam Mukhari; the ever-best rendition by the Brinda-Muktha duo. As we know, Padams and Javalis are love songs that were written during the late 19th century, which have almost disappeared from the concert stage since they were mainly erotic. They are great forms of music. In this padam, Ososi (Kashiki Poyyene), quite unlike the usual protagonist of a padam/javali, here the poet assumes himself the hero rather than the heroine. Distraught by his lover's indifference, he is at the brink of hopelessness
