Land Rover’s terrain response is truly marvelous. I always was skeptical of the independent suspensions capability off-road, but LR found a way to give you a car that rides like a dream and goes anywhere. Driving my LR4 (Which your videos had a part in me buying) is night and day vs driving my older Jeep Wrangler.

As you may have seen we also have a 2019 Wrangler Rubicon, it is a very different beast to either the D3 or FL2, each have their pros and cons.
Glad to hear we helped in your decision.

People discount the Freelander 2 but it is a very capable vehicle. Mine got me round the off road course at The Great British Landrover Show on Delinte dh7 tyres and around Sailsbury Plains as well. Mines a 2011 TD4 XS Manual.
Look forward to seeing the future videos with the Freelander 2.

Still miss our 2014 FL2 in Fiji white. Replaced it for a Jag, but still would buy it back f I had the chance.
Regarding terraincapabilities: FL2 was more capable than the driver dared to do …

Honestly, the best all round LR money can buy. Small, proper off-road credentials and a breeze to service at home. Best old motor I’ve had to date. Watch the values creep steadily upward 👍

Think I’ve possibly seen your post about it on trailwise2 a month or so ago maybe? I only greenlane on 2 wheels myself but I’ve had various landys over the years and must say I thought the modded FL2s in the picture on trailwise were very nice looking!
Reason I’m watching this video is I’ve just swapped my RAV4 for a freelander 2 so who knows maybe I’ll be on some lanes on 4 wheels before long (doubt it) haha.

Just come across your channel and have subscribed. I am the proud and fortunate owner of a 2014 FL2 Metropolis and from the many Landrovers ive owned, it is by far the best, I absolutely love it. Probably is the most underrated Landrover ever and it puzzles me that they discontinued the car!

@@ianross04 That's good to know , I'm coming out of a Discovery 2 that I had an accident in and it ended up on its side , the body folded so will not be putting my family in another Discovery 2 ever again. It went on the drivers side and the N/s A ,B,C and D post all moved to the point the whole b post pillar was pushed out. Wasn't even a high speed roll. So looking forward to the FL2

Great video, can't understand why I had not found this one sooner! Been eyeing on used Freelander 2s lately, as a 'budget Discovery' aternative. Really like the character, the ride comfort, handling and general ambience of the FL2. But... I wish it was about 10cm longer, to stretch the boot into actually useful dimensions. Currently it's a bit disappointing, and I haven't yet figured how to compensate the lack of boot space. =(

@@JayTeeCars That's still pretty cheap, considering the MY and low mileage despite it basically being an S model.
I have a 2007 HSE Auto, with lift kit, wheel spacers, raised air intake, bash guards , larger tyres etc. However, it's the 3.2 i6 petrol engine from Volvo pushing 233 bhp. My brother liked it so much, that he kept asking to buy it off me for the last 6 years. I eventually found him a Sport LE 2011 auto model with the SD4 190bhp engine a couple of weeks ago and he loves it. In fact, his neighbour has tasked me with finding a Freelander 2 for her. Automatic, of course !
2 wheel drive have the letter e. after their engine spec. TD4e. So that's the one to avoid for off road adventures - although I'm reliably informed they can still hold their own to a certain degree.
Your son is one lucky lad. At his age I was driving (well, constantly fixing !) Series 3 Lightweights ! Noisy, slow, smelly old Land Rovers that drank more than Oliver Reid. But looking back, I guess I'd never have had it any other way.
