I lived in England for 35 years, so some of the photos made me homesick. We had a limestone-clad Victorian cottage in Rutland for awhile and have always preferred country cottage decor to farmhouse. But now we're into Japandi, in our old age! Thanks, though, for the nostalgic trip *home*.
Hi Will, thank you for watching and sharing! Wow that sounds like such a beautiful home. I am just starting to see more of Japandi style and definitely has an appeal, very calming and soothing to the eyes. I am happy you enjoyed the video xx
Was SO thrilled to find this inspiration as I'm currently planning the decor for our newly built small cabin! Am trying to have a relaxed country feel while still being sensitive to my hubby's preference for rustic cozy. xoxo from Canada!
I love your videos and have been discovering them. This one is the most like me… but living in Africa now, I tend to go more safari style (wondering if you have a video on it).
Hi Liliane, thank you for your comments. Wow how amazing! We don't currently have a video on Safari style. I will add to our list, but this video might have a similar feel in the meantime. Have a great holiday period! x ua-cam.com/video/tFuHUJUFf2A/v-deo.html
@@JeffSueBell195 There are so many shades of white, from cool to warm. Natural white is one of the most inviting “warm” whites that compliments a range of materials beautifully. It serves as a blank canvas to build on with timbers, textiles and lighting to create a warm space. There are cool whites that have the opposite effect. Thanks Suzie
PLEASE PLEASE OH PLEASE can you tell me the paint colour of the door and wainscoting in the photo at the :32 mark?! It’s EXACTLY what I’ve been looking for for over a year now and have yet to find - until now!! 🙏🏻🙏🏻🙏🏻
Hello Marni, thank you for your message. I'm not sure where you are located but if you are in Australia there are a few paint colours that could be similar to that on the wainscotting. Porters Old Stone Wall Half Strength or Porters Harvest Moon, Pumice or Haloumi. Even White Duck from Dulux. Light can be deceiving so best to paint samples on to large pieces of cardboard and see how the colour changes with the light. xx
Thank you for the beautifully curated images and relaxing narrative, Suzie. I must confess, I watched again on 0.5 playback speed so I could study all the elements, and it made you sound drunk lol. Still...subscribed! Try to stay off the sauce.
I know the current fashion is for pales and whites which is fine for warm climates, but this in a british winter wold be most unwelcoming, the house appearing cold as very little in the way of sunlight during the winter months, grey clouds in the usual so to have these colours would be very depressing. Warm and cosy is the order for British country homes. We will change curtains, rugs, cushions when the summer months arrive for something lighter. Another aspect in a country house/cottage is the mud. pale furnishing will not do so well, especially if you have pets.
Hi raiseyourworld, thank you very much for sharing your insight and you make a great point! I can imagine especially being in Britain the shorter days of sunlight as well as the cold would call for some energising colours. I live in the countryside and I find layering lots of rich textural throws and cushions as well as lighting the fire and candles helps me but the Winters are never as cold as they would be for you! Thank you xx
@@suzieandersonhome What a lovely response :-) and one that would be helpful for Brits that do not feel the frequencies of colours and love the pale and greys, to achieve some cosiness during the dark, wet, cold ,winter months. xx
