I'd definitely make the hole for the gas much smaller maybe half as large and pack the gas tube with steel wool or maybe ceramic insulation fibers to help regulate the pressure and efficiency but otherwise awesome work I think I'll try something similar 😁
We use these in the 90's when we go fishing at night in the river. I miss those days
I have 2 or 3 original track worker lanterns from the 1930s that also work with carbide. The original nozzles where made of ceramic and had a kind of filter that regulated the gas stream for an even flame and avoided clogging(causing a dangerous gas pressure). I think it might be a good idea to try using 3D printer nozzles because they are a lot more durable than aluminium disks and come in different sizes down to 0.1 mm. Another good working nozzle can be found in the carburettor of pressurized kerosene lamps.
I didn't know how I came to see this video, but I am glad I did, This is such a fantastic video
Excellent DIY carbide lamp - 100% homemade
Would it be possible to put a parts list in the description? I would love to try to make one of these! I just wouldn’t know what the bushings are called or what size. Thanks for a great vid!
Yes. The parts details will be usefull.
Nahh, for sure, he dont know what the part was. He made all parts from scratch, using all those power tools. Including bolt & nut..😢
Nice, a trip back in time.
Thanks for sharing
Cheers
Clever build! We posted this video in our homemade tools forum this week :)
It serves a duel function of keeping you awake wondering when is the next time it is going to pop lol.
Je suis impressionné ! 👍
Wow... You are amazing 👌Reminded me of our age old Petromax Kerosene Lamps (India) (similar to the paragon lamps of Europe) which were used in our ancestors homes here. Thanks for sharing 🙏
Splendid work 👏👍
Good job.
Parádní práce. 😉👍
Super cool!
Perfektní ! 🙂
Excelent my friend
Very good beautiful work
Perfect!
It looks excellent.
Excelente información!!! Gracias!!!!
Nice carbide lapm, like Lukasiewicz (form Poland) made kerosene lamp
Great work
You are really skillful.
Zajímavé, možná zkusím :)
muito bonita a invençao gostei parabéns irmão
So amazing
wow , wow , wow!
Nice 👌
Lovely beautiful. .but those days are gone.
Good Like!!!:) 😊😊😊👍👍👍
Cool
Best
Super nápad. Nepřemýšlel jsi přidat nějaký PDF plánek ke stažení s postupem na výrobu? Díky
Nice, but some of us do not own a lath
👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼
💪🏻
Love this one!
In my village call name is Petor, the old lamp of Carbide
A good friend gave me a German locomotive lamp which was either paraffin or carbide powered (the inner lamp is missing). It would be great to bring it back to life in this way.
Would a mantle make the light even brighter?
Hey dude can you make a two cup coffee pot !
Hole is much to large for the gas.
Will want to make it smaller so you don't have such a long trailing flame.
Not as easily fixable as say, center punching the hole to close it up a bit.
Since the way it was done in the video was to place a small piece of metal at the end that the hole was punched in, you'll have to completely replace said piece to get a smaller opening....
At least it isn't unfixable.
Are those riv-nuts or some sort of expansion shield? I didnt know you could do that by hand
Without the reflector, it looks like a Neapolitan "flip-drip" coffee maker.
Hi, i'd like to make my own one, but how do i know that when the pressure of acethylene will get lower it wouldn't explode and hurt me with shrapnells?
needs air to burn, keep the generator airtight
HOW long does the lamp burn to produce light ???
How long will extend?
What these threaded sleeves called?
How can I buy one like this?
how long does light last each time?
can i just buy that one from you?
What a carbide will gone loses after water drop, and how long duration thanks serrr
4:27 that sound
Sorry if posted but could you print M sizes and lengths of bolts .
if I had all that stuff I'd have done it myself with better than tin cups, a salad bowl, and a piece of aluminum from a cat food can.
When I had a machine shop I did it myself making world class engineering applications for aerospace, marine, frontier physics, nuclear, and Star Trek the voyage home, and the opening credits for Star Trek Enterprise.
Just sayin it's not do it yourself when you got a machine shop.
Right,who has a lath?
How much po

Back to 1912
Sell me the complete kit for the lamp
I'm up there too I do not own a lathe but improvise and adapt .
The way we made carbide acetylene generators in communists era. From alluminium mugs.
This guy fabricates
Wait, wait I’m sure that a DIY store has something on sale that would make it easier and cheaper than the crap you’ve produced.
What?
You don't have to watch his content.
Maybe but at least he can say he made it from scratch and by hand and as far as being crap , we all would love to see you try and do it 🤔 , that's what i thought , go back to playing with your shadow 👤
Andy the prick
@@rickpalechuk4411 you’re right I’d forgotten about this so no wonder🤦♂️
ill just go down to the cave below my basement where my expensive machine shop is hidden and build me one.
