Nice to see you showcasing your hometown again, AK! It's good to know many of the businesses are still operating, but it's also sad to hear how some old businesses have closed. You were even recognized three different times on your first day back, so awesome! 😃 Thank you for sharing this walk in Astoria, AK! 🤗 BTW, I forgot to mention on your 09/09/22 livestream that you wore the flannel back to NYC! 🤣

Great walk, nice to see some familiar places, sad to see some had to close. I really enjoyed this walk, thank you. If you head to Long Island you must see Greenport . I think you would enjoy...
I loved this walk especially AK, it took me back to the little town I grew up in here in MI and the streets downtown in the 1950's~ The sights and sounds were wonderful and you could almost smell the aromas of the fruit and veggie markets! Thank you for sharing your homecoming insights with us~
The dress shop between 36 and 37th on Broadway was a Woolworth 5& 10 store. I remember going n there as a kid and I can still hear the wood floor boards creaking under my feet. Dave's Shoes on 35th and Broadway has been a shoe store at that location since at least the 60's- used to go there to buy my PF Flyers.
I left Astoria in 1991 and it's funny how different it is but still the same. I can recall what business was there in the 90s... I used to work at an electronics store called Bright Buyers on the corner of 33rd St and 30th Ave. There were some hard times and yet I wouldn't trade them for the world.
Nice walkthrough, I can see the appeal of this neighborhood based on the interactions and the general vibe captured in the video, also seeing you have moments with residents of that community. Will be out that way tomorrow actually from Washington Heights.
TRIVIA- on Broadway and 37th ST where you comment about the Casa de Sabor- in that building on one of the upper floors the process of xerography was discovered by Chester Carlson. The first Xerograph he made said "10-22-38 Astoria". There was a plaque on the building in the 60's commemorating the event. There was a bar at street level for years.

Biscotti is basically a very hard Italian cookie served with coffee. They look like a little slice of Italian bread, they are not round like a normal cookie. They are actually very common in Italian restaurants.
If I remember correctly, Rudy's was not a hobby shop in the 60s but an old fashioned soda fountain shop. I went to school with his daughter. Ocean fish was there in the 60s also.
Maybe this is a good sign A.K. I'm just seeing this video and I just got an email to interview for a position in one of the District Attorney's Offices. Won't say which one, LOL. I pray I get it. Been up there last March for a another family funeral unfortunately, my 41 year old nephew, kidney failure and heart attack, smh. I'm born and raised from Queens. When I come back I will probably move to Fresh Meadows, if not back to Nassau County. Maybe I should film the move back. Love ya AK!
