For both cases richen bottom end. Then reduce idle speed if needed. Personal thoughts: I'd also add to check the plug's condition before attempting to tune.. Further, if engine dies suddenly under acceleration, check the clutch as per instructions for correct setup. If plug frequently fails particularly on the safe rich side of adjustment, it is most likely an overly worn main bearing.
