Sometimes tragedy strikes, but many of these tragedies were self-inflicted. A lot of the problems are caused by their insular levels of privilege and their determination to hold onto their power and wealth.

Joseph Kennedy was a rabid anti-semite. It is common knowledge among orthodox Jews that the chief Rabbi cursed his family when Joseph refused to allow them to pray while he was traveling on a ship with the group.
