Hey Bob, could you please have these guys back? They have changed so much in eight years and the new audio set-up is so much better. Please consider a Dr.dog redux.
I would like to emphasize the top comment on this video. Bob we need this band back! Their songwriting has evolved so much as well as their production quality, yet they still retain that same grassroots spirit and ramblin' soulfulness. This is one of my favorite bands of all time and I feel like they fit in so nicely on Tiny Desk. WE GOTTA GET ANOTHER ROUND
I just saw them last weekend on their final tour. I hope that they will come back to Tiny Desk and give us another last little taste of their performance abilities! Such an amazing band.
This is by far my favorite Tiny Desk! I love the nature of these guys and their sound and it seems like the atmosphere in this office must be pretty cool.
I saw them at The National is Richmond last week. Had zero clue who they were going in...but good gawd! They really jammed out something serious. They're opener, Cotton Joe, didn't perform because of a scheduling error, so instead of apologizing and playing they're normal routine, they played a 3 HOUR SET!
Not only is the music fantastic beyond words, they are just such nice guys too. Fate is one of my favorite albums to listen to, the songs run into eachother perfectly and no two sound alike. Brilliant.
Probably the only band for whom I have ALL the records. They're just so good to listen to, no matter where you are or what you're doing. And just so underrated. Hoping some day the rest of the world will see that.
I'm Italian and I've been listening to them since 2007, the year in which I accidentally "discovered" them. From that moment on I have never stopped recommending them to all my friends! And I would really love to hear them live in Italy. Dr. Dog, if you read this I will host you in my town and make you eat the best food in Italy!
Man I love these guys! The more I listen to them the more I like them. Thats the biggest similarity to the Beatles to me. When I was a teenager listening to the Beatles it was like having a new favorite song everyday. Some bands, I like them at first and it gets old fast. These guys are my saving grace.
I feel so out of touch. This band is fire and I’ve never heard of them. This is the second video I have watched and they are just crazy good. Kind of strange, but the song writing and performance is amazing. Also the refreshing thing is there is no ego here. So much talent and zero ego...maybe that’s what makes it strange.
@@jordanlakey5714 it was so goodl. it had me wanting to spend all my savings on following them around the country. they truly are just great musicians all aorund. just learned the new drummer used to be in a frank zappa cover band *vomits in drummer*
WHAT!? Here is an amazing find! Dr. Dog your sound and your great vibes as a band so good to the feels you know. Thank you guys for your genius and just existing.
Best band going nowadays! Hands down! Been a big fan for a couple years now.... the more I see and hear the more I love them! Wish they would come to Minnesota soon!
Dr. Dog still on tour! Apparently they are calling a hiatus. But they’re really a great band. Could be awesome to have them do a quick show for Tiny Desk before calling it quits. Maybe they wouldn’t have to call it quits! Who knows
holy shit is that orange tape on his 12th fret on the bass??? My bass had a BLUE piece of tape there for YEARS!!! and I'm just an amateur haha that's badass
LMBO!! OK...A pretty original idea which is a rarity these days, or so it seems.... Rockin' out.....on a little girls suitcase!! I HEAR YA'!! I wonder if he could play an entire set of suitcases...like maybe those vintage Samsonite hard tops ;-D....LOL...hmmm. They can play whatever they want, cause I think they are pretty dang awesome. :)
I know the lead singers father he was my professor, and he told is about his sons group. Cool I just realized it was them after somebody told me there name, that they were on npr t.d.s
This sounds so much better than the album version. Why can't bands just record this kind of sound for their records? (Not rhetorical, please give me the answer)
+Edgar Flores - Just because these guys are indie talented doesn't make them hipsters. Hipsters are those without talent who try too hard to be different and cool yet they all end up acting, dressing, sounding the same.
@@thexplsnAnd you're totally not lol. I wonder what you say instead of "hipsters" these days. Cringe to use "hipster" then, even cringier now. Spin the wheel of random lame attempts at name-calling that'll last about 6 years and don't really mean anything to begin with. 😅 have you tried libtard? Or snowflake? Or are those already considered old? How about trumpy or Karen? What's the flavor of the week ?
Set: The Beach Uncovering the old How dare. I wish there was a higher quality video or that NPR put up the a .mp3 of this. Recently saw them live, such a great band.

That would be absolutely amazing!
I second this!

Seriously. I wanna hear Shadow People at the desk!
Really!!!!

Sultan Grimoire could you imagine how much better the audio would be a decade later?
THE BAND GOT DISSOLVED??
Too late now I guess, but I fully agree. Their songs and performances and recording skills are all top notch.
HAVE THEM BACK!!!
Wtf are people really hating on Dr Dog???? What is wrong with you guys these are probably some of the finest musicians of this generation
Sorry if i'm duplicating but I didn't see the track names:
0:00 The Beach
4:00 Uncovering the Old
8:52 How Dare
thanks! I had no clue what that last song was
Fate

ba55letmysoulfly It sounds good too right?!
ba55letmysoulfly lol Justin. He's no longer in the band, and the new drummer's even better
I never noticed!
Saw them about 5 years ago. One of the best concerts I’ve been too! What a band- yeah Scott!!
Simply amazing for just showing up and playing behind a small desk. Shows how great they are if they can do that and still sound brilliant.
I don't care if they wear 3.5 fadoras per person. the vibe doesn't lie....
?
15 years since Dr dog has been on Tiny Desk, please bring them back!
This is by far my favorite Tiny Desk! I love the nature of these guys and their sound and it seems like the atmosphere in this office must be pretty cool.
Ryan Claybaugh It's a GREAT tiny desk. Do you like The Avett's and Local Natives? I highly recommend!
+Bruce Lafone Local Natives went to my school awhile back ahaha
Saw them live last summer, changed me life it did. There music is life congratulating itself.
My introduction to Tiny Desk Concerts. I've been a fan of both ever since!

One of the First and best Tiny Desk concerts ever ..Philly Darlings.
Live at a Flamingo Hotel is easily 1 of the best live recordings ever. Can't wait to see them in Houston on Sunday.
three years later but i agree! hope you’re seeing them on their last tour :)
They're wonderful.
Bring these guys back 10 years later!!

i just found these guys but the beatles vibes they give off without sounding like copycats is incredible
I loved getting to see these guys last night. They're really nice too, got to meet em all post-show.
I like you guys!!-This is the stuff my dad would have listened to but nowadays. Real music...this is where it's at!
One of Tiny Desk's best IMO. Broken strings, suitcases & all. Sounds totally different than their records. But still awesome :)
New album coming up! Have them back!
Best band going nowadays!

Toby, you sound so much like John Lennon when you belt, fkn love it!!!!
Shout out to Pat Finnerty. Beato
Bring them back!!!!!
please have them on again : )
My favorite npr
"Dr. Dog isn't an obvious choice for one of NPR Music's Tiny Desk Concerts." Was it fate? Fate has a funny way of coming around, so I understand. :P
love their sound
These guys are badass.
holy shit is that orange tape on his 12th fret on the bass??? My bass had a BLUE piece of tape there for YEARS!!! and I'm just an amateur haha that's badass
Bring them back again 🙏🙏🙏🙏
Do another tiny desk with Dr. Dog, please!!! Their newest album is fire🔥
2 too many fedora's
clearly breaks the "One fedora per crew" rule of life
I'm pretty sure the two on the left are "Panama" hats, but don't quote me on it.
Bros before hoes... but little bros before big bros.
this is an awesome gem
ah, i just can't get enough! simply marvelous!
Dr. Dog is so good that the one fedora per crew rule doesn't apply
Love these guys!!!! But one fedora per group. Tighten up! haha
They're so good that I will forget the whole fedora thing.
I just wanted to se old NPR and undertand how they start and found my new sound track to work
Thanks, NPR.
These guys are better than sweet herbal tea. What a great band.
I've got a fever and the only cure is more bicycle bell.
LMBO!! OK...A pretty original idea which is a rarity these days, or so it seems.... Rockin' out.....on a little girls suitcase!! I HEAR YA'!!

Thanks. I appreciate it. I'm just starting to get into these guys. Good stuff!

I reeeally dig this.
Please have them back
These guys are really underrated. Total hipsters but who cares their musics so damn good. Their pretty consistent too.
+Edgar Flores - Just because these guys are indie talented doesn't make them hipsters. Hipsters are those without talent who try too hard to be different and cool yet they all end up acting, dressing, sounding the same.
Were The Beatles hipsters? Was Bob Dylan a hipster? Hipsters are douches!

12 years wow
They’ve only gotten better with time
Such a sick "Uncovering The Old"
Iconic
Playin' the suitcase and rockin' the chops
Feel good stuff
If only they played "from" or "army of ancients".
Going to grandmas suitcase... I had the same one as a kid 😂❤️
The Beach, Uncovering The Old, How Dare.
You're very welcome :)
Yes.
That last song killed it.
toby=the man
Wish they would've done "Heart It Races." So good.
Toby Leamon Killed It.
you know fate has a funny way of coming around
hell yeah!
All in all, this was a pretty strong set.
Is it just me, or is Bob's comment about this band a bit passive? LOL
DO ANOTHER ONE PLEASEEEEE
It's 4:20 on the clock when they start.
x)
partied with these guys in west philly basements.

The Beach
