Interestingly, I have more in common economically with David's generation as a fixed-income "boomer" on her own, not a homeowner, expensive location, astronomical rises in cost of living, than I do with my peers. Jeez, he's good. I'm sorry for his loss. (David, if you read comments, I'm genuinely sorry about your father. My heart goes out to you & your family.) I understand his sense of immediacy, though, & it's really nice to see it in a leader. That's how I've felt for a long time. And my sense of urgency actually started with the long, catastrophic illness of my dad. Just..."yes" to David. He gets it. This isn't something people should get into to make money. There are lives on the line.

I totally agree!! When I was young (early 70s) we knew we could change things for the better if the old folks would just LISTEN!!! I feel its our OBLIGATION to support the best of the youth NOW while they are still young! They are fearless, totally committed to creating change for everyone’s benefit!! I'm all for young people in politics, and David seems great. I wish him well, but we need to support people based on what they stand for, not simply their age. Bernie Sanders is a great example of this. David said the biggest predictor of Gen Z's swing to the right was whether or not they were in high school during COVID. Covid and the economy were bungled by a Republican president, and a Republican party that is not known for its youth and diverse representation. So, what does that say for the value of youth in politics? All voters should have some basic understanding of how government works, and not vote with blinders on. They should understand that something like the filibuster can be difficult to overcome, and whether fortunately or not, often requires some level of bipartisanship. If people had some understanding of how Congress works, would there have been as many voters who simply accepted the lies put out by Republicans that Democrats are to blame for all of their misfortunes?
So glad boomers are letting people know that we’re not all conservative! Many many are progressive! We grew up in a very vocal and also challenging time! We need to be fearless and to educate people!!!!

Thank you David Hogg!! Excited about your political future. Would like your thoughts on post-election hygiene; going forward would you support/advocate for routine verification of vote counts. And would you have preferred such action was taken this general election? Many Americans were in disagreement with our elected officials on Dem side, vote scrutiny being legal, and not unreasonable (not forgetting our successful candidate was our 1st fraudster/felon winner. Seems irresponsible to decline verification). I like your no-nonsense, pro-active approach to political involvement!

What a breath of fresh air David is; Intelligent, perceptive and a straight, analytical thinker with a heart. Thank you for having him on. There's one thing I'd like to say that may feel small compared to the big picture, but my campaign contributions for the 2024 election and for many years now have been limited due to the fact that they all end up going to "Act Blue". When I make a donation to a campaign, I want it to go to THAT person's campaign only - not some big monolithic entity that only gives a portion of what I sent to the candidate and uses the other half for god knows what. And I want the acknowledgement of that donation to come from THAT candidate's campaign staff.

I’m 65 and moved from the republican to democratic party after the first W Bush’s election. I too have expressed to democratic leaders until I see them stop capitulating to maga republicans I am not donating any more money. Also there were things democrats could have done prior to January 6, 2024.

We need more young people in our government. It’s time for all the old boomers to move onto retirement
I am a huge fan of David Hogg, I have followed him since he and several of his friends from the school shooting began speaking out on a continual basis and created I think a group that the would come out and tell us what they were doing and what they were working. Then he went to college and I have been following him since then I love new young people joining the DNC and with new ideas, but particularly those who have computer skills and computer knowledge and who are representing young people who are coming up who have a broad range of skills and I must say who are college-educated and who are interested in the world. However, I am an 82-year-old who has worked in government, but I have also always understood my limitations as I grew older.. I actually stopped driving at age 75 because I just knew well a wonderful driver and never having been ticketed in the 50 some years that I had drive driven. I think you need you know when you need to leave. I have a feeling that they are gonna be a number of older Democrats who are not going to survive 2025.. I still call myself a liberal. I came up through the 60s and I as a black woman who has worked in government at a fairly high-level and been working on campaigns you know since before ever.. I never liked the idea when Bernie Sanders came in, and he and friends decided to label sections of the Democratic Party in a discriminatory way I think we must never forget that the umbrella that is the Democratic Party invites people who have been marginalized and disenfranchised, and they have agendas as well they should. So we are not the lockstep predominantly white Republican Party. And I tired of people thinking that the Republicans are more progressive than we are when it’s fact that they’re just more corrupt than we are..
The world that we live in now needs young people and very smart people, but I do not want to lose the experience of older people. I know that we could not have survived. Had Nancy Pelosi not had the experience she had when Democrats really needed a leader, who knew how to function within Congress and the congressional gameplay.. now I’m not saying Nancy or anybody above 60 should be in leadership roles for very long in Congress. But I want young people coming in to understand. You don’t know everything, and there are things that you do need to learn about Congress as long as it maintains the status quo in its rules and regulations. I must say that I think Trump’s not gonna be in office very long and that includes till the end of 2025.. I don’t think he was elected, I think Kamala Harris was elected and I think foreign entities have been doing what we thought they were doing in 2016, they were doing in 2024. The one thing that has made me terrifically angry is how everybody jumped on Democrats in the Democratic Party when a APjumped out very quickly. And named Donald Trump the winner of this 2024 election. I assure you he did not win and I don’t think his presence he’s gonna stand.. I wish David and the Democratic Party the best. I think the Democratic party was slammed and too many people jumped up to tell us how to change because we lost. They will learn that we did not lose. Good luck to David.💙🇺🇸

David has a great perspective. My 3 children are 24, 26 and 31. Housing, cost of living, higher education, healthcare costs are all key issues with them without a doubt. Without going into detail I want to see more outreach to the 18-30 age range. Despite my efforts my 2 youngest didn't vote this 2024. We are in Ohio.

Housing cost is so unfair. There should be a percentage limit on profit. But in general, I am wondering how you lower prices without lowering wages. We have successfully raised many wages, but with that came much higher prices, except, i hear, for farmers! How long can we keep eating with farmers losing in the financial chain and with diseases and climate change? Greed is causing the housing costs and other costs, especially when big money people pay little to no taxes. They now have even bought our country and bleed us dry of not just money, but morality; and used the church to do it.
Real Estate businesses should not be buying up all the rentals and charge us like we are buying it. Must have 2x’s the rent in your bank acct at all times? I rented for 30 yrs and was never late , but that means nothing! Rent is too damn high

I found this conversation revelatory! Thank you, Simon! I had heard of this young man, but I'd never heard him speak regarding anything in particular beyond gun issues. His understanding of why young people voted for Trump helps me forgive them. They had legitimate reasons for voting as they did, and they didn't see Donald Trump for the threat he really is. Those of us who've known DJT for decades know a lot more about him and what a horribly unfit man he is. Those young people will learn how completely he does not have the interests of anyone except himself at heart! It's a bitter lesson to learn, too, that he is the consummate LIAR who introduced the whole idea of FAKE NEWS, when ironically, most FAKE NEWS is generated on the RIGHT! FAKE NEWS destroys trust! David, I understand what it's like to care for an elderly parent. In my case, my father had Alzheimer's. I cared for him for 9 years, practically 24/7 until my brother started helping out towards the end because I was collapsing from the stress and getting about 6 hours of sleep a night. I was also raising my daughter as a single mother at the same time. After he passed away, it took about a year for me to recover, I would wake up with my muscles aching and my head tingling and feeling like it was going to explode. I heard that in one of the Scandinavian countries, their taxes cover elder care assistance and costs. It sure would have been nice to get some help. I did have caregivers come to the house for a few hours a month, but the cost was over $4,000/month. Luckily, my father had saved enough to cover those costs.

21:01 David this is where I suggested to show the before and after pictures of the roads especially the freeways that have been built in heavy stop and go highways. I drive from the Twin Cities up to Lake Mille Lacs. Driving through Anoka and Ramsey and then Elk River was a pain. Show what Elk River looked in 2021 and then show the progress in 2022-2024 and how it completed.

They were more entertained by reducing the price of eggs and bashing women, LGBTQ and other minorities. I feel you are still saying the same stuff that VP Harris said. The focus has to be on people who don't hear what the Dems are talking about. How do you get them to listen to what you will do for them?
