Better question…why is long fingernail is even allowed in WNBA? I know High School and College women sport banned nails. It’s actually pretty serious because it can cause blindness if poking in the eye.

Who are the women responsible for setting up the playoffs? The format is the best two out of three games, with the first two games at the higher seed's home stadium. It seems like a lot of potential revenue is being missed! It appears to favor the home team or the highest seed... Unbelievable! It's no surprise that this league is struggling financially. Are they trying to fail?

I have been playing basketball for 20 years and I have never been raked in the eyes when someone is blocking my pass or shot. Usually those happen when they're trying to swipe the ball as I hold it away from them.
Someone reminded me of the fact that Ms. Carrington is a PRO. There was intentionality in her movements. Those are very unnatural basketball moves. Suspension for at least a game as I also believe being raked in the eye will affect you for at least a day.

They are all in on it! By any means necessary! These women clearly wanted CC out of the game/ league! The referees should have halted the game to review the incident and awarded a flagrant 2, which would have resulted in her ejection from the game. Yet, nothing was done! It appeared as though there was a consensus among them. Do they think we're all blind? My father taught that same move to the women of my family to defend themselves against a male attacker. SMH

This was clearly intentional. My husband played college ball, my daughter and son both played high school and college. They ALL say this was obviously intentional. AFTER she was finished with the ball she made her hand into a point, then aimed at Caitlin Clark's face. At the very least it is a flagrant foul! The amount of abuse Caitlin Clark has taken this season has been ridiculous. Frankly, Dijonai Carrington's season should be over for the year.
And outlaw the fake nails, they are weapons, more than one player has been injured by them.

Definitely intentional. Closing one's hand while pointing one's fingers is not a natural part of a follow-through on a swipe such as this. Especially as it brings one's motion 'unintentionally' to another player's face.

Here's where the intent is clear on both the TV shot and the slow-mo X shot that we got: look at her hand when she first started to swing, it was an open hand (a point that I have not seen anyone spoke on), which is natural for blocking a shot or stopping a pass. At the top of her swing we noticed her hand bunching up the fingers to create a point and at the impact of the face it was in a clearly pointed position, which is not part of a natural basketball play. The evidence is clear, who in basketball history ever bunched their hand into a point while blocking a shot? Please do tell 🤔

This was not an accident in my opinion. The WNBA is infected by a tribalism mentality which has at its foundation prejudice, racism, and sexual identity bias. The league has been supported by the NBA financially and from a relevancy standpoint for so long it has become stagnant and entitled resulting in mediocre management, coaching, officiating and ownership. The arrival of Caitlin Clark into the WNBA has brought millions of fans, millions of dollars, and a wide acceptance never seen or enjoyed before. This tribalism has been hidden, but always lurked under the surface and is probably the reason the WNBA has never been able to be self-sufficient. It is time for an overhaul on all levels and I am both surprised and excited the Indiana Fever have already taken action by hiring Kelly Krauskopf as President of both basketball and business operations after the season is over. It’s time for the closeted cliques of bias to be dismantled.

For example, if you watch Sundays post game interview when CC is asked about the eye jab and how it effected her gameplay she wouldn't say that the injury hindered her play. But when they asked her coach basically the same question CC is clearly unhappy with her coaches statement. But the only thing CC could do was to clear her throat into her microphone and then she began to rub the eyebrow over her injured eye. Calling attention to the injury. That said a lot. Because in professional sports it is always the coaches responsibility to vehemently complain to the press on behalf of the player during those post game press conferences. Especially when you are talking about a cheap shot like that which could have easily ended your new franchise players career well before her career had a fair chance to blossom. :-I

I really don't know how anyone who watches that replay could think it was accidental. Even her denial was an obvious lie. I'll say this: I played a lot of hoops when I was younger, tried to block a lot of shots, never once did I ever jab my fingers into someone's eye. Nor did anyone do that to me. I don't think I've ever seen it happen. Now take another look at that 2nd replay: She's is looking right into CC's face, not at the ball when she jabs her. See the way she quickly withdraws her hand. This was a poking motion, not a follow through of going after the ball. This was a dirty player trying to cause injury to another. Englebert needs to step in and clean this shit up tout suite before the league loses everything they've recently gained.

After a previous game Clark said that she didn't mind physical play as long as the Fever could also play physical. However, just like last game, the opposing team got away with murder while the Fever were called on every little thing including phantom fouls. The refs see the plays like the eye poke but just don't call them because the are crooked. When the same thing happens over and over again it is by design. The eye poke, obviously on purpose, happened because time and again the league did not protect Clark from the violence. So the violence against her escalated. The eye poke was a serious escalation in the violence. When is it going to stop?

In a close up freeze frame, after the ball is tipped, Carrington is laser focused on Caitlin's eye as her hand changes shape to aim at and poke deliberately. Yes, it was quick, but athletes are very quick. After tipping the ball normally a player's focus typically follows the ball, not zeroed in on somebody's eye. Carrington could have blinded Caitlin in one eye. Anyone who does this should be ejected from the league.
