It's beautiful. I honestly didn't expect it. I've seen "Clerks" many times, and the Quick Stop looks run down in the movie, so I assumed the area around the store would be run down as well. I was wrong.
@MsGrammy57, HI, so nice to meet a neighbor here! Stayed with a friend in Leonardo( so pretty there), then lived in Highlands for 4 years, but mainly from Long Branch & Eatontown, is where I am now. 🙂Just wanted to say Hi, and so happy that Joey did come to the Jersey Shore & so quickly too--after I mentioned it 2 days ago!!! Thanks Joey! 😁😁
Thank you for visiting New Jersey. Please come back as we have many beautiful places to see. We are not just the smokestacks next to the turnpike and Newark airport. We have a lot of beautiful towns, cities, and forest land.
Dear Joey, I’m sorry for your family loss. Losing a relative close or distant is painful and reminds us of our own mortality. I listened to your ending statement and heard you were heading towards Michigan. I was born in Pontiac 74 years ago, and have watched what happened there on your videos, but I was wondering if you could visit Manistee Michigan where I uses to visit my Grandparents many years ago. It was a small sleepy town years ago with beautiful old houses. Thank you for all your wonderful videos, and all the work you put into gathering information, history, and statistics on every city you visit. You are helping all of us see America as it really is for the first time. I love your wonderful narratives and beautiful videos. Sincerely, Annie
Dear Joey, I worked as a professional artist all my life, and I sculpted signage for Trump Plaza, sculpted the original ceiling panels for The Mirage in Vegas, sculpted a6 foot tall Ronald McDonald statue for Hong Kong’s first Ronald McDonald House, and designed Ronald McDonald Murals all over the world. I tell you this because I really appreciate how you show us all the various sculpture you encounter such as the bronze horses and Jockeys in Kentucky, the president statues in all the states, the gorgeous murals in the state capitals, the wonderfully eclectic Alley Murals, the Wizard of Oz murals, statues of Toto, and too many more to mention. You are a Renaissance Man who loves history, beautiful architecture, art, design, beautiful homes from all eras, lovely landscapes, and rural America. Plus you are kind when it comes to poverty and those less fortunate. Thank you for always zooming in on sculptures, corbels, capital, friezes, and sculptural details on old buildings! You would love to have old signage for your future man cave, and I would love to be taking molds of the one of a kind sculpted details on those deserted buildings that are disintegrating all over America. Many were done by European Stone masons who immigrated here in the 19th Century, and we will never see work like that again. I’ve gone on too long, but I totally appreciate all your hard work, and will continue to watch and learn! Thank you, Sincerely… Annie
Clerks is one of my favorite movies too! 😂. Very nice houses in Leonardo. I’m glad you got to visit the Quick Stop. Thank you for taking us along! Red Bank is gorgeous ! Enjoyed this video - trip down memory lane. Condolences regarding your uncle.
Just sat down at my desk, watching your great series! Sorry to hear of the family loss in OK. Glad to know you were able to get back and help with that. Your continued travels , no matter when you are going to point a to b & beyond, are always enjoyed by us here. Take care, hugx to you and Nicole & family.
Thought I knew the Jersey shore but never heard of these towns - maybe been through them though if they are somewhere off North Route 9... Didn't know those movies you speak of either... I always went to LBI - Surf City, Barnegat Light, & Beach Haven in central Jersey shore.
I really enjoyed this video, as always. I'm very happy that you got to visit the Quick Stop, very exciting for you, and the t-shirt is awesome !! There are some lovely homes in Leonardo, and it was beautiful weather for exploring. I'm so sorry for your family loss. Take care. Thank you so much.❤
On your way through again, swing by my home town, Jamestown, NY. We were a major furniture manufacturing city with a population of 45,155 in 1930. Currently around 28,300-ish. I grew up here, and I worked for Jamestown City School District for 25 years, retiring as Head Custodian in one of the elementary school last September. We have our issues, as with pretty much any city/town, but I love it here and will never leave.
Sorry to hear of your Uncle's passing, may he rest in peace. Will have to watch the movie now for sure... Thanks for sharing, really enjoy learning about America's towns, cities & even the hole in the wall places.
Love the scene of you indulging in seeing something you loved. Here we are as grown old people ( assume you N' Nic grandparent age) getting stuff like its the 1970's again. Would like to see you guys get a bar somewhere. Joe N Nic's divebar saloon.
Great to see the iconic Quik Stop and Secret Stash. The town reminds me of the city in Connecticut we lived in the late 70s. Solid middle class communities full of commuters working in NYC.
My hometown, Red Bank. Lived the first 22 years or so in that wonderful place. In Florida since 1992. Haven’t been home since 2017. I thoroughly enjoyed watching someone “discover” the little town I live. The Heart of Monmouth County. Home also to Clarence Clemons (E Street Band) and Melanie (70’s pop star). Thank you!!
Never knew about Clerks! Need to watch it! Sorry to hear of your uncle’s passing. Stay safe! Looking forward to seeing you and Nicole on your next adventures.
I love Kevin Smith. I was part of his following since I was a kid. Clerks, Mall rats, Chasing Amy, Dogma, Jay and Silent Bob and I'm sure there is more I'm forgetting. Very cool video location Joey, thanks for taking us along with you.
I'm sorry for your loss. Glad you got to visit the quick stop. You deserve things like that in life. You're a good man. Thanks for your videos. I enjoy them very much.
When you go to the UP of MI you MUST check out Marquette and Presque Isle (in Marquette). There will be a turn off with a parking lot as you make your way around the Isle. The attraction there is referred to as the black rocks and you have to check it out! really beautiful.
Awesome video. I used to live in Leonardo before I relocated to Texas. Went to visit in January. I used to see clerks being made at night when I would come home from work. Lived in Red bank at one point too.
I haven't lived in NJ in decades. I was born and raised in Newark and the surrounding area. The area I grew up in was rough, but I have some good memories. A lot of them involve my times down the shore. That said, I'll never move back there and don't go there frequently. My main reason for returning to visit has been gone since 2019. That's when my Dad died.
Sorry to hear about the loss. My family had a few emergencies recently, but thankfully, things are going well now. Most of my family was born and raised in NJ. My father grew up in Bayonne, NJ which is northern NJ and my mother wound up growing up near the NJ Shore near Asbury Park. I also have some family that came from Freehold, NJ as well. My only family members left in NJ are my uncle near the PA line and my cousin that moved to Asbury Park some years back. I do have some great memories of visiting my uncle in central NJ and always enjoyed driving around the parts where my family came from.
NJ gets a bad rap mainly cause of the bigger cities. The smaller towns & suburbs are nice. So is most of the NJ shore. Born in Red Bank. Thank's for the video.
OZ// Thanks Joey- for another adventure. Enjoyed seeing you so into the Clerks thingo !! and the town etc, as usual. I,ll BE lookin for the next one !! - as always. Safe travels man.
Of all ur post, this is far and away my favorite one. I too am a Kevin Smith fan, Dogma was my fav. The town and all was cool but to see the STORE was the best. Thanks! I mentioned Mystic Pizza in one of your video because I had pizza there n saw the movie. But this is better. Next time I go to NY, I'm going to have to stop by this place.
I enjoyed this video as always, and you've given me a new and more positive view of NJ. If you are going to be in Nebraska think about some places in the panhandle like Rushville, Hay Springs, and Chadron. They are off the beaten path and in my view point rather neat.
Another great video joe, will have to watch the movie sounds great would also like to give my condolences on the loss of your uncle god bless to you and your family
Man this was awesome! Well all your videos are awesome, but it's not everyday someone films the Quick Stop. Love your videos thank you from Tom in Norway.
Thank you for this! I grew up in that area and lived there for 32 years. Got a couple of tattoos at the place that used to be in the buiding where Quick Stop is. Encountered Jay Mewes a couple of times around town. This video almost made me miss Jersey for a minute 😅
Leonardo is not really a town, that's why there is no "downtown" there. Leonardo is an unincorporated community within Middletown Township. The Middletown Township municipal building, police department, etc, are several miles to the southwest on Route 35. If you're curious, there is a Wikipedia entry about Middletown Township.
You're going to love Upper Michigan. Lots of ghost towns, especially on the west end. Be sure and visit Ontonagon, there are some nice places to stay, on the shore of Lake Superior.
I Enjoy the program...each town must have a fire station ,perhaps focus on that and you will get the idear of the back bone of some of these rural towns....thanks
Sad you didn't find spot that silent Bob leaned on.. / Red Bank Monmouth st (count basie theater, comic book store and Dublin House).. awesome street and fire work show Red Bank unleashes is truly awesome
I used to live in *Glassboro New Jersey,* you were 1 hour and 41 minutes *(cuz I looked it up)* filming this video from where I lived. *Thank you for doing what you do!!*
I enjoyed this video as I always do! Hook and ladder no.1 stands out for me? I look forward to more great installments from Joe & Nic's Road Trip. Thanks for taking me along.
In my neck of the woods now! So many more gorgeous beaches and boardwalks to see than here in Leonardo/Redbank but I understand why you stopped there lol

Now if I could live in one of those places called New York but looking like that. That would do me. I have seen cop shows from New York where they say they are going to Jersey shore. I just watched that movie Clerks ! Freakin hilarious ! I would have never known that movie even existed. Thanks bro !
Cool!
Glad you liked our little town, I live two blocks from The QuickStop!
