Israel is a small spot in a sea of sand full of enemies trying to destroy them for centuries, yet here they are still seemingly small, still here...because GOD wants them here. Jesus died for them too, gave his people the chance to repent first, still giving the chance...that's the love of GOD❤

Today, I see the beauty of the two versions of this song. The first version quicker in tempo, drama and song at the same time, maybe more repetative, yet deep and strong. The second, this, slightly slower to accent different things, which a astounding particular articulation in the vocals, even a stronger musicality, more improvisations, more vocal elements. Both versions are astounding for their use, the first one pointing more to everyday life - the second one more etheric, mystic. You are masters, every one of you!
Thank you Yamma for this Chanukah gift. Since I first heard your studio recording of this song I have listened to it hundreds of times, and have been learning to play and sing it as well. So much of your music, especially this song, speaks to a deep place in my soul. Part of my family comes from Kastoria and Salonika, of which I am very proud, but also very mournful, and disconnected. This is food for that part of myself. Like the food that my mother carried from her Nona to me, this music is a sacred treasure that I will carry with me forever. Thank you.

Talya's voice weights several hundred pounds but you hardly notice it, for it moves slowly, and soothes you. Almost a dangerous proposition. The ensemble is very subtle, and powerful. The whole thing another example of giving from what's yours and recieving from others around you, incorporating into yourself and returning it back, to begin all over again. To remind those who can see and hear, and touch and feel that everything is everyone and all belongs to all of us for we are all part of it.

@@Yammaensemble Thank you so very much. Your performance popped up in my monitor by chance and I opened it because I had seen other performances by other groups of Sephardim music, hope to have the term right. Perhaps from my Spanish Caribbean origin, and first layer baby boomer, which made me be exposed to an earlieer form of music and expression of feeling around all over the Caribbean until after WW II. Your music is familiar, sounds and feels familiar. It is a known fact that in Puerto Rico and all over the Caribbean there are lots and lots of Sephardim names, mine among them, something I learned no more than three years ago. So is no mystery to me that the soul in the music took roots who knows in how much of a widespred manner and I am listeing back on it through you. This song hits home and I can't explain it. I got to visit Thessaloniki a few years ago. It was only for a day and I didn't know what to do. A habit of mine is to look up Jewish history in an area. It hit me to read of the Jewish people being taken away by the Nazi's. It felt lonely walking around the former Jewish area of the city and as though their voice was forgotten by most. This song is so personal and beautiful, yet sad at the same time.

Dearest Marta, thank you so much. it's a bless for us having listeners like you. always supporting and listening 🎶💚🎶
