“Koi Yoho” and “Haru Machi Girl” by Yoeko Kurahashi sound very Katamari-esque. She was active during the prime of the series and had the right vibe to do a song for Katamari, I so desperately wish they had her make one.
I'm listening to this as often as the official OST's these days, wonderful job, I am filled with joy! Recently I tried the Katamari Bandai Gashapon for small cousins (+ Prince, and the King) keychains, and got Ichigo. 🍓
Currently going through a bit of a rough time with negative thoughts at night. This came up on my recommendations and it has helped me calm down quite a bit. I just want to say thank you for putting this together, you're amazing! :')
This is the best shibuya kei playlist I found so far! I love how the songs follow eachother up, and there's also some of my all time favorites in here, and most importantly, a lot of new things and artists I never heard about??? I'll have to look into them!
that Pecombo cover of the Young Girls of Rochefort made be actually gasp omg, genuinely fantastic choices. At 26 i've spent a lot of my life chasing this vibe, bravo/a at capturing it so well
This is an amazing "katamari mix' !!! I know and love about half of these bands/artists so I thank you for introducing some of the others to me. I really dig the Plus Tech Squeeze Box and Microstar songs, and the Platinum 900 song, so good! Also, Hakushi Hasegawa is on Bandcamp which is great, that song was crazy and good
Hicalculator.. Now there's a name i haven't heard in a long time Thanks for the wonderful mixtape, friend. To you and whomever else is reading this, i hope you have a lovely day
For those still looking for more music in the Katamari/Avalanches style, I recommend checking out Handsomeboy Technique, particularly their album Adelie Land, for a sound that hits this niche well.
Would you by chance be able to share a download of your little mixtape? Some of these songs are quite hard to find, but this is fabulous. I love this sort of stuff though and I love Katamari's soundtracks. Also, a handful of other songs that might fit your playlist's vibe which I can think of (from my own playlist of Katamari-ish stuff): Yu Tokiwa - Murmur Twins Mili - String Theocracy Doopees - Doopee Time Rip Slyme - Super Shooter Certain early electronic stuff makes me think of Katamari sometimes too like YMO's song Solid State Survivor or a handful of things from Jean Jacques Perrey (the guy who created a lot of weird sounds eventually used in Katamari's soundtrack and inspired a lot of other video game music too) he had some gems like Gossipo Perpetuo, Brazilian Flower, The Mexican Cactus, The Unidentified Flying Object and a bunch of other things.
Ay, thank you!! Yeah, I think I'd feel comfortable sharing the rare songs, at least. Here, have a download: mega.nz/folder/RmQETD6J#CSEJBrC-7X85j4hseBmvsg (everything else you should be able to find pretty easily, they're all at least on iTunes or Bandcamp) It's funny you should mention early electronic stuff - I was playing We Love Katamari this week and I realized the only thing I feel is "missing" from this mixtape is any quirky electronic stuff in the vein of like Blue Orb, Wanda Wanda, One Chip March, etc. I haven't explored that scene as much so maybe this is a good excuse to, haha. Jean-Jacques Perrey and YMO are both good thoughts, I've listened to them sporadically but I know they have more I've never dug into. (Thanks for the song recs, btw! I'd heard Doopee Time but the other three are all new to me. Will have to check em out!)
Sexy-Synthesizer is an artist ^^ It took me a long time to figure that out myself, I thought it was a katamari style/genre descriptor or something, but no! Their other stuff is hard to find on UA-cam, but most of it is very good and fun.
Excellent, you definitely understand what you're talking about, this is the only "katamari collection" that actually feels like Katamari music
+1
This is an EXCELLENT playlist, the way you mixed the songs together is just /mwuah/ chef's kiss. Great job!

What a great collection, you nailed that particular Katamari take on shibuya-kei. I'll be returning to this one pretty often, thank you!!
Thank you!!! Glad you enjoyed it!

Am I stupid? I thought Katamari invented Sexy synthesizer...
