Flowers for Algernon is in my top 10 of all time. It is incredible how such a short book can make you feel so much. I remember finishing the book and instead of picking up a new one right away like I usually do, I just kept thinking about it for a few days. And I still do years later since there are some scenes I remember clearly due to their emotional punch.
Ayyooooo I just read Flowers for Algernon last month and it made me ugly cry.....snot bubbles and all. lol. The part in the video where you stop before getting into it's review is gold brother. I can see your like "damn I'm about to choke up again". I totally felt that part brother. Excellent, Excellent video man.
Lol it definitely has a lot of weight to it for such a short book. I had to regroup real quick, I had flashbacks of the sheer devastation this tiny book brought upon me lmao
Great wrap up. I get the feeling about Flowers for Algernon, it's like a gut punch when you're at the end of it. Comedic with deep themes to discuss, sounds like you're looking for either Terry Pratchett or K.J. Parker! If Guards Guards doesn't work out for you, Parker might be a better bet. I'm having a blast with The Company from him right now.
Thanks for the recs! . I already own Guards Guards and The Engineer trilogy, so I'll probably attempt either one of those, but I'll definitely check out The Company.

I can't stop thinking about it too! It's definitely one of the most emotionally impactful stories I've read.
