    That attachment part is absolutely beautifully "machined" with ordinary tools. Love it.

    Bauer that was amazing! I watch all kinds of fabrication vids with gobs of fancy tools. What you just did was nothing short of brilliant. Kudo's man, from someone over 65 who's been a DYI'er forever. Simply brilliant.

    Great Stuff!! The camera had a good view of angle-grinding with drill-press, but your view was somewhat obstructed looking overhead, yet you still achieved good accuracy -that was impressive.

    Well done!! after reading some of the negative comments, it is obvious they have zero creative skill or ambition. The more you design and create, the better you'll get!

    Very nice ! I also watched the other one because I like to hear (not so) boring commentary on stuff that is (not so) clearly shown on the video :-)

    This is how I do my knives to where I work because they are really hard on them and they always end up with deep chips, knicks, and gouges in the blade,idk if the idiots hit the knives off the table or what they do with them but this is a very effective way to remove a lot of metal quickly, except I clamp the bandfile in the vice, level it, and feed the knife through heel to tip. you might like this way better to because you can easily flip the knife through the other direction to do the other side and it's relatively very easy to hold the correct angle this way with a little practice. This way gives me a little better control of how much pressure I want to apply to the blade itself if I want to remove less metal or I'm try to weaken my Burr a little before honing. This way won't get you knives hair whittling sharp, but I guarantee you that it's close to utility blade sharpness and I can do a box of about 20 knives in 15 minutes this way, as I just finish deburring it with a round steel honing file from Walmart for about 10 bucks.

    Wow that was like a rock concert amazing sound score , I was transported body and soul to another dimension , this made the power file look so awesome , It conjured up visions of unimaginable power , wielding a mighty sword on a battle field , it made me want to throw all my other manly power tools in the bin and go buy one of these immediately , this thing makes King Arthurs Excalibur , look like a flaccid toothpick ...
    thankyou so much this has changed my life ...forever ..........uh huh

    2:47 - 3:00 = so you first heatthreat it, and next you weld it? doesn't the weld make your hard steel soft again? otherwise, great project!

    • @CosmasBauer
      @CosmasBauer  8 років тому +3

      I doubt that little spot weld heated it up enough to make it soft.

    • @kiskiller3
      @kiskiller3 8 років тому +1

      it high speed steel it can be heat treated because its high carbon steel.

    • @manofausagain
      @manofausagain 7 років тому

      for future info the shank of a drill is usually made from softer steel and not HSS. otherwise you would ruin your chucks. you could use a bolt shank.

    • @maxxwelmaxxwel460
      @maxxwelmaxxwel460 7 років тому +4

      manofausagain no. the drill shank is the same as the cutting tip. The shank is not heat treated on a twist drill and thus it remains soft. It has sufficient carbon to take a heat treat

    Hallo, mir ist aufgefallen dass der Fräslift an deiner Tischkreissäge dem von Matthias Wandel sehr ähnlich sieht. Da ich gerade dabei bin mir selbst einen zu bauen stellt sich mir die Frage ob man den Kipp-mechanismus braucht oder ob der eher unpraktisch ist. Hast du deinen Fräslift fest auf 90° eingestellt oder ist er verstellbar ?

    Nice job working with the tools at hand, however, a mini milling machine would have made the much easier and provide greater precision. Perhaps you should consider adding a mini milling machine or a mill-drill to your toolset or workshop as it would dramatically increase what you can do and I think you would enjoy it.
    Peace!
