Golden words of advice.... an example that I often use to make people understand is to compare to the film industry and films, a film isn’t just a director and actors, everyone is familiar with that, on B movies you ha 1 or 2 minutes of credits at the end, on Hollywood blockbusters you have several minutes of credits, the bigger the budget and scope of production the bigger the crew and more specialised tasks and jobs. Even legends like Spielberg would produce at best average results if working on their own with actors ; even crap like the original Big Brother wouldn’t have been possible to film without a production team although most of the footage was from CCTV like cameras.

When I first hired a professional assistant, my life has CHANGED. It was like falling in love. I had wonderful photographer-assistants before, all were hard working and very helpful, but but hiring a career assistant just made my work better. Literally, I can produce a better quality work because of them. No joke.

Excellent, clear advice, as usual. Everything you say here also applies (in parallel) for independent no-to-low-budget filmmakers, as they move up their budgets. #filmmaking

Question about the digitech, you mentioned that they also fire the camera. As it relates to intellectual property, who would be the photographer?
I remember sometime ago that came up where a photograph was submitted to a competition but then the assistant claimed the shot theirs since they were the person that actually pressed the shutter button.

Thanks for this video. Very interesting to hear who does what on a set. Are any of the crew you work with have channels on here? Be interesting to see how they do what they do.

Sadly not. I actually don’t know if another working commercial photographer in the U.K. who has one

@@TinHouseStudioUK I've been watching Darren Mostyn who is a professional colour grader using DaVinci Resolve. I guess re-touchers don't need to show case their skills on here. Maybe if any of them want to make a guest appearance on your channel might be good content for you.

If I were paid to do so I would 100% outsource that.
