Literally dropped my engineering course to take cs last year, one semester in and its all not worth it, im so tired of life man, now i dont know wtf to do, learning code has already been pretty hard and now its all gonna be for nothing? I still have 3 years and by then ai is going to be so much more advanced so theres literally no point, im just never enough man its so frustrating
Hey kid. Don’t do that. Lift your head up high. You have a purpose and whatever it is you’ll find it. Don’t give up on yourself. All the best. Rooting for you
You are in a good spot, and cs is very important to learn, now with your knowledge of the future you should plan how you combine both and see how you take advantage of the new situation of AI
Dont be a quitter. Have confidence in yourself that you'll find something that will pay you well, and go search for it.
Otherwise, you've lost before you started. AI, computers, mechanical inventions, these can put you out of a job temporarily and that sucks. But feeling sorry for yourself and like you are a loser? That will keep out of good jobs forever.
Hey, I was thinking of doing the opposite in 2 years into a CS degree but think will drop out to restart as an electrical engineer degree would be graduating 2027 tho
Go back into engineering dude, those jobs will only advance. But continue to Learn the basics, honestly programming 101, so you can also learn more on the job and make lateral moves if the opportunity arises.
As a guy getting into CS and wanting to create an AI that fixes bugs. I am fucked up
Chat gpt does that
@@wodmay1chat gpt creates the bugs
My take, having worked ~15Y in IT/dev roles. The levels of abstraction will keep rising, as it has from machine language to Java which is closer to human speak but still formal. Now we can ask for code, explanations and fixes, but still someone has to drive that task and that the system as a whole is coherent, robust, tested etc. The ways of doing that will change, and where in the process we spend most of our time and thinking.
And while catching up with the new ways, tools, you can always get a job at banks, gov etc. who will wait >10 years to adopt new practices :-)
You've still got a good 10 years at least
@@wodmay1you dumb ? Any thing you see just say chat gpt does that example you shitting then say ai does that you sleeping ai does that

I think AI will replace us . Because it Can write code even faster than human, and now tests its own code .
If AI engineers and researchers want to create an AI that can replace developers what are wE gonna do ?
Nothing, already AI can beat Go champions, chess champions and so on . In the next 10 years 15 I prefer taking my precaution. Because 2033 is far and at the same time very near.

I agree with you on that. But that’s assuming things are not gonna get more complex than how they are right now. Software engineers are always looking for a way to optimize and save resources. This could also allow companies and gov to invest in things that would cost them a lot of money in the past, can you imagine thousands of coders without a job? They will probably find a way to create software for healthcare, energy, aviation. Old systems could be re written, and don’t forget that they have to be mantained.

@@anirecapped. i agree if you are new stay away from tech... or embrace it and learn to use it to make money. Im focusing on using the AI to build projects and enhance my skills. Its a blessing more than it is a curse
@@philliam111 My thought exactly.
As someone who just started studying coding after 10 years of working as an Englis-Spanish translator, don't get too confident. Yes, it can make your job easier, but because your job is now easier, you will get paid less for it, and there will also be less work for you to do. And even if the job AI does can never be as reliable as a human, if the customer is willing to settle for it, then that's less work for you as well. Yes, it can make work easier for some people and create *some* new jobs, but the amount of jobs it destroys will be vastly superior. Entry-level employees especially will have a hard time getting jobs.
Take it from someone who works in an industry that was supposedly not going to be replaced by AI anytime soon... this happens. AI is a *very* serious threat to the jobs of millions of people. Get as much money out of it while you can and save or invest!
So why are you learning to code if you think you could learn it and the skill being useless by then?
@@bogser8998 Because like I said, I just started learning code. And I also just started realizing the implications of AI. That doesn't mean I'm just going to quit overnight before figuring out what to do next.
@@Olderaccount17 and what might that be? I'm in a similar situation to yours it seems so I'm trying to find out how others view the same problem. Developers are payed to think not to code!
You realize just because AI can write the code doesn’t mean that people can understand it. 99% of people will look at code and say wtf? It’s a tool to be used. A good developer knows how to implements all tools available to better their individual skill sets
It's actually disgusting how these youtubers are preying on youngsters who have a dream to get into a coding job, Its almost like they are trynna get rid of competition 😂
That's exactly what they're trying to do.
The moment ai takes control of coding, basically all jobs are history, because we just have robots who program themselfs to do your job. So no worry's as a programmer you are the last to lose your job.
Yep that's why I'm finishing a bachelor's in CS in machine learning. My job will be the last to go since I'll be programming robots to take every job that exists.
People don't understand the meaning of 'Replacing Software Engineers'. The truth is SDE will still be needed , but now companies will only hire the most qualified candidates , so surely the workforce won't be dissolved, it will just be reduced. Which is scary because going forward there is less tolerance for newbies.
less pay also
Open source communities where code is logged and scored ? And even comp’d in a DAO like structure ?
Well, so you have a 5 year window to become that. I suppose software development will become a legacy career and not something that will become a realistic path except for prodigal coders outside of people who have already been coding. Just "starting out" 10 years from now, is gonna have no real path forward.
Not sure whether what I said above will be completely true. But i feel if you are fundamentally strong software engineer with good end to end knowledge of tech stacks and also learn some AI things , you would be a lot more valuable asset to a company than merely a data scientist or an AI engineer.

Yes for GPT-4 and kind of GPT-5 this is true it will more of a tool that will enhance our work. But by GPT-6 and upward, we need to be realistic it will be a beast in coding and the rest of software development. Why would a company hire a human when an AI is already better in every way of the word and many times over?
Another question... why would we need companies at all in a post AGI world?
Seems like companies are designed to make it possible to complete projects which require large human cooperation in order to complete.
AI effectively allows one person, or small group, to do the work which used to require multi billion dollar studios.
So why would we continue to prop up companies with our $$$? When Jeff down the road is making things just as good by utilizing ai?

Then testing. Now the language is just a way for the user to tell the computer what to do. It won’t replace humans not yet at least.
@@DAN-kb9jp I find it amusing and fascinating at the same time how condescending yet desperate and insecure you managed to sound simultaneously and I say it as a compliment!! As for your statements, I have seen these exact same things being made and repeated over and over again already by the likes of you over the past few weeks. Believe you me, you're not the first one to make these arguments.
Anyway, let's break your reply down. Yeah, it is true, I'm a noob when it comes to coding but then again, I picked it up as a hobby 6 months ago. As a business grad, I don't really need it for my job.
I know it's about problem solving, and guess what, GPT-4 CAN solve many of those problems and can do it in a far more efficiently and in far less time!! And it's just GPT-4, wait till the next iterations go online.
You seriously compared stackoverflow with an LLM like GPT-4!! Well, a typical case of the drowning man and straws, I guess.
Anyway, AI will write entire scripts, not just large segments of it!! It can already do that with a great deal of accuracy!! This means, a few years from now, you'll need just a few senior Devs and engineers to supervise GPT-X which is far more accurate and requires far less babysitting and takes far less time and resources as opposed to having to mentor junior Devs learning the ropes and trying to keep up with the company. GPT-4 has shown that it most certainly can make juniors obsolete, for the most part. And guess what? It won't stop at GPT-4!, no!! We can only imagine what it will be 5 years from now, heck we can't imagine what's gonna come out just 6 months from now!!
"Your automation claim is correct however when was there a problem solving task in a manual labour job such as packing a box? I’ll help you: there wasn’t." - That's overgeneralization at its worst!!
As for your abstraction by generalization, Ai doesn't need that!! That's what makes it so damn powerful and dangerous!!
Now, as for tests, have you been living under a rock or something, kid?? I mean, GPT-4 can already come up with automated tests for its code!! You can literally highlight a section of the script and GPT-4 will spit out a test for it instantenously!!
You can highlight a piece of the code and it will explain its function to you!! I have watched videos of some guy having a case where it produced a function and they didn't understand what a certain part of it was doing, so they asked, and it added comments to the code explaining that part!!
So yeah, please do the research before you decide to open your mouth. At least, go and check the live demo - the MS guy even inserted the entire docs of discord api into it as context and it figured out how to update the program to work with the newest version of the api on its own!! It was amazing.
Now, do tell me, how long it'd have taken for a team of newly minted junior devs to do the same??
So yeah, this LLMs absolutely posses the potential to decimate the IT job market in the near future. No one is saying it will happen tomorrow or it will replace all of the programmers/ software engineers/ data scientists, at least not in the short to medium term but it will definitely replace a lot of them.
@@anirecapped. bruh you didnt get my point on problem decomposition you gave it an order already
also ai does need abstract by generalisation otherwise it will be inefficient so...please do YOUR research.
The day AI replaces software engineers is gonna be called singularity.
Or a Tuesday next year
Nope, it'll be called a big nothing.
@@jimmy7434Lmfaoo
It might not replace all developers but most likely 90 % as well as majority of jobs in tech , finance , and media. Good luck California 😂
Its not going to replace developers, its just going to replace the really useless ones (which seems like 80-90% of developers). So be part of that 10% if you want to be a developer.
Even in such a hypothetical scenario, if that happens it will be temporary and Govt will anyway has to give subsidies and freebies to win the elections. At the end will sit at home relax while AI working for us.
Developers will be the last one that will be replaced, it's a tough job, think about other jobs
Chatgpt can't build anything on it's own, you would always need someone to implement it
Devin says high
Okay, but keep this in mind: They project that the newer AI models will be better than 80% of coders (by next year). So within 5 years we can only imagine. The average company will use the AI because it will be cheaper, better, and faster. Even individuals that need a project done will use AI themselves. So will coders still be needed? Most likely yes, but only in the field of AI. And since the AI will also be used to code other AI, human involvement will be minimal. This means that only a select lucky few will actually have these positions. Think supply and demand. In the future there will be an abundant supply of human coders but the demand will be much lower.
Side note: for those currently in a replaceable job, don’t wait until it’s too late. THINK ABOUT SWITCHING SOON.
The projections are that 50-80% of jobs could be replaceable or replaced within the next 5-10 years. People will start looking for jobs where the jobs still exist and those jobs will all fill out. Even with the proper qualifications you may lose out to finding a job because you and half the population are also trying. Fear not, the government will probably step in with a Universal Basic Income (UBI) to keep people calm. But if you want to really prosper and be one of the wealthy people in the new world, simply be in the top 20% of people that are making more than the UBI. Just remember that no one really knows what’s gonna happen at this point. They don’t know if this will change the world for the better or for the worse, all they know for certain is the world is going to change… and it will change entirely.
Literally automated robot firmware! Could not agree more. Still has a way to go. Leverage it for marketing, content creation and as a toy.
Here is my question; With absolutely no prior experience of coding I can now build an app that would have taken days for a good software developer to code in literally few minutes. I am not saying it is not good that we have been able to do this, because I think humans will have better things to do as we let AI take on rigorous and time consuming jobs. But is it not wrong to say programmers will not be replaced in the near future, given that AI has already been able to replace software developers in some areas of the field?
That’s like saying squarespace, Shopify, and other website builders will replace web developer jobs. It’s not going to. It’s an alternative but won’t replace
All programmer will become village developers
Let them keep believing AI is going to replace us😂 more jobs for me😂
Yeah, you know what it's called mate?? DENIAL!! Your coping is so amusing, please carry on.
@@anirecapped. and you know what you are called mate? A fukin spammer

As long as my clients write documentation, developers are safe 😂
as long as neither the customers know what they need, nor product ppl can express what software solves it, dev ppl will be in the loop...
Programmers of today think Frontend is just color and pictures.. They are used to building Wix Websites.. They know nothing about real coding.😂😂
Have you ever seen one movie that puts artificial intelligence in a positive light? If you have I would like to see it.
Demand for developers will be SIGNIFICANTLY reduced in the next 10 years. Even with ChatGPT in its relative infancy is quite startling in its capacity to translate natural human language into usable code. Sure, it's not 100% perfect, but it will only keep getting better and better to the point where a human producing the code will be enormously inefficient relative to the AI's ability to convert a human's outline of an application into a nearly complete product. The value most developers provide is our ability to take an abstract idea for a product and build that product using an assortment of programming languages. Once the AI can close the gap between the idea and the product - the need for humans to be the intermediary in writing that code is mostly gone. Only high level oversight and a handful of devs will be needed to jump in and fix minor mistakes as they arise. It will be game over for 99% of developers.
These guys are just in denial at the moment. Give them a year, they'll come around.
@@anirecapped. Any person with experience in coding who has tried Chatgpt can visualize a future with fewer opportunities. I program in C, and in terms of security, the code generated by Chatgpt is quite interesting. All you have to do is point out the errors and it will understand what is missing.
@@MrWolfy08 I know, and try GPT-4 if you can. I guarantee that you'll be pleasantly surprised.
like 70% of jobs
@davidortega2102 Such a nonsense lol. Do a bit of research and understand what is going on. Crazy how people make up these random bullshit statistics of how “AI is taking over majority of the jobs” when this has been debunked almost a trillion times. jobs aren’t going anywhere. it will be a rough time but we will be fine at the end.
I always recall image where human janitor cleans manually store which sells vacuum cleaner robots
The thing is. People love to talk about ai coming for programmers, artists, writers, etc. But when AI gets powerful enough to COMPLETELY automate all of those things. How long do you really think it would take until google puts out a robot that instead of recognising a cat or a dog. Can recognise broken plumbing and fix the problem. We already have robots capable of doing surgery. So my point is EVERYONE should be prepared. Even tho the jobs I listed first will be the first to go. The rest won't be far behind. That's at least my thinking.
What would humans do then 🤔
Clearly lying in the thumbnail. He said the exact opposite in this clip.
Also, he blamed creators making clickbaity videos. While he did the exact same thing. Hypocrisy
Now how can I respect and trust someone like this.
Isn't the fact that learning programming is really easy an indication that it has the potential to be replaced easily..
Like I have never seen a doctor or an electrical engineer who became one by studying it in his house, although all the material is available online.. but there's ton of people who learnt coding without any college..
Really easy? Learning a programming language and some concepts is not hard, you're right. The hard part about coding is solving problems using the language and those concepts, you need problem solving skills which are hard to obtain if you are not gifted or havent developed them before that through maths/physics. Becoming a doctor is not easy as well, but in my opinion developing problem solving skills is harder than just memorising a few books. Ofc everybody is unique, some will find memorising lots of stuff easier than memorising 1/10 of that stuff but actually use the knowledge to solve problems and vice versa
FlutterFlow AI Gen sent you a hug ;)
I believe you but don't underestimate Ai. There's a reason why Elon and all these billionaires are so afraid of it.
Do you still think it's worth learning to code starting with front end web development?
You also have to take in the fact that moores law will end, meaning the rapid technological progress we have seen will flatten out. This is why:
Moores law is basically a physics law that shows how many transistors its possible to stuff into a single cpu chip.
The amount of transistors has increased exponentially the past couple of years, BUT, the laws of physics won’t allow there to be infinite amounts of transistors in a chip, so soon the law will end, which will halt technological advances
How much longer you think this advice will hold up?
John McCopium
So are you telling ai won't be able to push and pull codes from repositories? Or self write?
Programs will become way more advanced with more features, all tasks will become much more complex, ai will only help all developers do more and cope with all the newer more complex tasks. Instead of a game taking 4 years to develop with 300 devs, you'll have the same devs make the same game in six months. No longer will anyone have to play skyrim, cod, mb, etc. for ten or fifteen years waiting for the next version to come out. Tractors helped farmers farm much more land. Game dev seems to have a better future than web dev imo because you can never have enough entertainment.
Simply put, ai will mean more production while market scales because people can never have enough
Just heard a whole lot of copium. Project a little, and always consider how willing corporations are to cut costs, and with AI making your job a lot easier, your pay will be reduced, and the amount of devs for any given project will _also_ be drastically reduced.
Bro listen, you are right that they need someone to implement it... But just think that only one or two ai bot will eat up hundreds of job in a company and only provides 10 or 20 jobs of those who implement it... Because workload will decrease only to implementation and that will be only work for us to do . Its been happening from day one since innovation happening in corporate culture by gives us more and more tasks.
That robot will be in my nightmares now
AGI will replace developers. The question is simply when AGI will be fully realized. IF gpt5 is true agi, it will replace all devs, and the vast majority of intellectual jobs.
I see very little reason to assume we know when agi will occur, it might occur much sooner, or much later than we believe. I'm in the sooner camp myself.
Well but there will be need of less developers and the ones needed will have to be way more specialized/good. The average level will increase a lot and will always be harder to step in that field.
This guy is in plain denial and it's natural. After all, it will be his neck that will be on the chopping block if the words of the so-called fudsters come true.
Remember when Wix or Wordpress were about to replace web developers?
Bro, that was a different time. All of that work was done by humans and humans have limitations to creativity and storing data. It won't be same again, AI is being trained and learning sec by sec. Soon AI will be capable enough to understand the needs and will make any kind of wesbite, software or anything according to person's prompts given to it. Only those gonna survive in near coming future who'll use all AI tools collectively and make something that will be need of future market.
@@10master31 Well tell you what, where does that AI take its data from? Humans. With jobs. And who would program that AI and actually feed it its data sets and algorythms? Humans that work in programming.
@@paulcopper299Heavy agree, because humans will always be the driver of creativity since we provide the mental models and the data for which AI will use to learn
they did, most of the websites are made with a CMS such as wordpress or another website building tool, all of these websites could have been made by developers but they weren't, so many gigs could have been made but these tools took them away
but remember, there will be a lot of layoffs when ai becomes very useful and makes a developer solve a 10x problem.
15 years ago when google search became powerful enough to show snippets of code on the Internet people thought it will reduce the number of people required for software development. What happened was that people were able to do things faster. So say before AI you took 6 month to complete a big project. Now you would be doing 6 projects in six months. Your job will remain, just what you do will change. That is you will more of integrator and design and tweak instead of writing everything from scratch
I really hope you're right
A developer selling something would say exacrly this 😂
I feel it’s still productive/helpful to learn the universal elements of programming languages but not waste time on specific ones
You guys are screwed 100% this will replace the average programmer in the next 5 years or so
Whatever makes you sleep at night buddy
What if GPT 6 or 7 can decode, create and do every programming?
Yeah there will always be a need, but, since it will make developing easier and more efficient, companies will need smaller teams, meaning, less employees, meaning, less jib openings, especially junior positions. Salaries might even go down if the supply of developers is too high.
Company I work for just fired 26 writers, editors and programers. I know do everything they did with AI systems we made. I get payed a lot more buy even at this infant stages, out AI system only needs to be watched with inputs. My entire field here was replaced by 2 people. It's horrible. Once our system grows enough I'm pretty sure I'll be out as well.
How in the hell do you do 26 other peoples job with just ChatGPT? I assume you have somehow coded their entire tasks automated yourself
the fk u talking about lmao
Lmeow company don’t do thing like that. Stop spreading fear
but in what way it can help software engineer?could you make a video on it
Human will never be replaced.
I hope AI is going to be greatly regulated that people can use it while still having the people creating it.
Entertainment requires real humans to work on.
Big difference between replacing ALL jobs and MANY jobs. Obviously there will always be a need but AI will likely reduce the work load.
Now, this could also mean that companies just spend much more time on the user experience since everything will get cheaper to make, which will mean more features to build, and more complex software.
“It’s not going to replace developers” = “it’s not going to replace all developers “
Junior devs : Hold my beer.
