We put a limit on the toystore i work at, we sell them anyway On opening a queue of 100+ people and we're like on a country side region Had a restock 4 days after, by the time i get from the back to the cards spot behind the counter, 16 people waiting, everything gone in 40min on a unofficial restock, and that was a really good restock People were just rabid calling all day, touring every store an hour drive away 2 days after another restock lasting an hour 30 Limit won't fix it much, scalpers go outside and they pay ramdom people to buy stuff for them
At one of the walmarts I go to on occasion, there was a Walmart associate actively guarding the aisle while another associate stocked. The one guarding was enforcing a 2 per item per person limit. He was not told to do this, he was just a fellow pokemon fan that was sick of seeing scalpers in his store and took it upon himself to stop them. Because of him I got an etb and binder collection at msrp, and someone after me would be able to get the same. I’m heading out that way again today to eat brunch with my grandfather and brother and will def try to stop by and see if there’s anything new, and to thank that guy again if I see him.
i study graphic design and printers in uni and yeah they teach us about those tiny yellow dots. those are a thing to identify counterfeit money and other counterfeit documents
@ that’s the interesting part! usually these security dots are only implemented on home inkjet or laser printers! as far as i’m aware, industrial printers don’t leave any of those marks, so basically official cards wouldn’t have the date printed on them like that at all
I have a local Comic Shop I usually buy my ETBs from, and I went less than a week after the launch, and they were completely out of ETBs, which has never happened before. I talked to one of the owners, and she tells me they’ve never had a line that big for the store EVER. Y’all, this comic shop has been around for like 30 YEARS. I picked up a poster set, which was all they had left other than individual packs, and when I came back the next week, they didn’t even have SINGLES anymore. They literally still have stock from XY sets, but Prismatic Evolutions sold out completely in less than 2 weeks.
I go to a game shop that sells cards + old games and consoles and the owner has frequently gone out of stock with the Prismatic stuff out. Had to visit him a week in advance to reserve an ETB, arrived 30 minutes after the shop opened and half of his stock was already sold out. Kept the rest in the back so kids actually had a chance to pick some up themselves.
Pokémon fan here. The state of TGC is so bad, I feel bad for people who like the TCG for what it is, and not because it's an "investment". Sad to see a genuine hobby be converted into an opportunity to make money
I've mostly ignored Scarlet & Violet and have been focusing exclusively on SwSh. I've been buying the Knockout Collection, which contains two booster packs of either Astral Radiance, Vivid Voltage, Chilling Reign, or Brilliant Stars. I got a Fusion Strike out of one once. Funny how the Knockout Collection was barely touched at my Walmart. The other thing I've been collecting are the V Battle decks, which were also mostly ignored by my local scalpers. Most of the Jirachi V boxes are still there too.
i think it is immature what people are doing, most these people arent even pokemon card fans they just want the cards in the hope's they'll get expensive. and stealing from children is horrid.
and it kinda sucks when your favorite pokemon turns out to be the most expensive/rare card in the set. (mine being the umbreon and sylveon so its basically impossible for me to get it unless I want to spend an absurd amount of money to buy the single from these stupid scalpers)
I’ve had employees tell me they would hold a etb for me atleast 10 times just for that “restock” day to come and them say “ohh we actually didn’t get any”. *They are stealing my cards*
@@devintaylor7049they aren’t allowed to lie either It would be one thing if this was some Karen that was demanding a box and they told her “we can’t do that” like ten times beforehand and THEN lied to get her off the phone, opening with that is just flat out lying
@@entr3_nou5What? Everyone is allowed to lie. You think random people talking to other random people on the phone is governed by a secret law of honesty?
12:48 I think... you misunderstand something about this issue. These people are going directly to the distributors and making connections to get hundreds, sometimes thousands of packs... and that is stock that is not going to stores for 'normal' people. In fact even highly watched people in Pokemon are shitting on these people for pretty much robbing the Pokemon stock. So yes, people are blaming them for being a part of the problem, because they are. In fact I haven't seen Pokerev get hate... because to my knowledge he does not have any deals with distributors, and has in fact HIMSELF mentioned that content creators with those kinds of connections are a problem.
Yea if you watch any poke tuber with distribution (like Danny phantump) , you will know there are 2 separate distribution lines. There’s the LGS line that a lot of these tubers and store owners get their stuff from. And then there’s the lines that supplies the stuff that goes to all the shelves for the normies, Walmart, target, GameStop. So pokerev getting a thousand packs in no way influences what stores are getting. There was already not enough being allocated to the LgS line, every tuber didn’t get near what they wanted, so rev opening a thousand packs is making an awful situation only a tiny bit worse. It was never going to be enough to go around , and he is one of the few people on earth that probably got to open that much. But he earned it. He also sold off a ton more product at a fraction of market cost and got hundreds of people product. The tubers aren’t the problem. The problems come from Pokemon not giving enough, and to all the predatory LGs and whatnot people who jacked up the prices to make extra money. Everyone else just followed along
12:03 when I see someone opening a 1000 packs, yes I can blame them for making it even more scarce in the aftermarket. And the fact that you say they get it from distributors directly makes it worse in my eyes because all that means is that they're stocking less out there. So yes I can blame content creators when they're buying them up as well.
I don't say this about small youtubers much, but I genuinely think that you will make it big in the Pokemon TGC space. Hell, I don't even collect Pokemon cards any more, yet I still sat through and watched this whole video. Keep up the good work man, and I wish you the best.
As someone who doesn't care about trying to turn a profit over children's cardboard, I cannot wait to buy primastic evolution ETBs on clearance in like 6 months when pokemon prints more of this set than the Venezuelan government prints money
I got lucky because my local card shop never put Prismatic on the shelves, only offering to sell them (at msrp!) to regulars like myself. They’ve always hated scalpers and people who are otherwise only in the hobby for money, and mad respect for that.
Scaplers are just ruining the hobby for everyone else. Apparently some of them stalk the delivery drivers so they can buy up all the products as soon as they’re stocked? Get a life.
I agree with EVERYTHING in your video but the youtuber part. Even if they are working with distributors to get their product, theyre still taking product out of the hands of everyone else when they get 80 ETBs. And you’re deranged if you think otherwise.
Wouldn't you rather see it get opened by a UA-camr than be sold by a scalper at 3 times the price? The problem is that consumers can't get the product themselves because of scalpers. The UA-camrs have no control over this. The UA-camrs aren't allowed to sell the product themselves. You either get mad at the company for sending products to UA-camrs or you blame the scalpers for hoarding it. You are getting mad at the wrong people.
My LGS in Germany just started hosting Official Pokemon Liga TCG events and as they were aware of the scalping situation, they actually held back their etbs and poster collections for the attendees of their first event and allowed everyone to buy one product at the end. I got Lucky and got my hands on an ETB that evening, but ist probably my last prismatic evolutions purchase for the time being, even though I'd love to buy more. Well, here's hoping they increase their production for the reprints and booster collections...
i work at mcdonalds and the first pokemon packs that came out that i remember was chaos. The crew members were opening them without paying, people wanted to buy just a ton of the packs and not happy meals, it was just a mess. The next pack that came out at mcdonalds, they literally had the pokemon cards in the office to keep an eye on them so people wouldnt open them and we weren't allowed to sell people just the cards anymore, they had to buy happy meals. Ever since then, they aren't locked in the office anymore, but we still don't normally sell just the toys anymore, or we put a limit on how much you can buy. I don't know if all mcdonalds works this way, but I think its a good idea so at least the kids can have some too
maybe the pokemon company shouldn't release a new expansion every 3 months? maybe they could print more to meet demand if we didn't have a new expansion every 15 weeks?
the pokemon center in my country had to cancel the release because dangerous things were happening i love pokemon cards as much as the next person but hurting people is crazy
Game where the game is disregarded completely in favor of made up value of cardboard. When the tcg came out people didn't even know there was a game attached to the cards. Absolutely amazing
I want to like pokemon cards but I swear the community makes it almost impossible to collect cards. Specially for the kids who are the target demographic, where is little timmy supposed to get like 10k for 1 card?
Found some PE at a local toy store. Bought 8 packs and pulled nothing. When I went back it was all gone, and they said they weren't getting any more in. One bro barged in and spent $500 on their entire stock of PE. Screw this set. 😠
Patience is a virtue: But it was less than 3 hours and they were completely sold out in my city - to the point all the shop owners and a few GT/Walmart owners joined and made posts on Social media saying "Dont bother you guys got them all already" AND THEN someone pulled an umbreon and sold it and went around town and bought EVERY SINGLE pokemon card pack/box everything in town so no one can even get normal "old" S&M/SWSH/SV cards. Its impossible to even play as a TCG let alone collect. (PS - my sister is due in april.....imma post a pic of my niece/nephew and say "So this just happened" just for you)

I work at [major retailer] and it was insane watching these get stocked as I was cashiering because there were already middle aged men standing right by the person stocking everything watching like a hawk waiting for them to finish. About 60 etbs got placed, the most I’ve ever seen there at once, I managed to snag one on my break, and I only saw one other person get anything from the set before these guys wiped literally everything out in under an hour. All hoarded by two guys.
It’s honestly so exhausting, I just wanted to get something for me and my nephew to open because he’s been really good at school. I promised him I’d get him some cards from the new set… it’s been weeks
This fiasco is so crazy man, like I walk into work since I work at a target and the first thing I see is a group of people watching the vendor stock the cards and then as I’m pushing some stuff out to the floor I saw it was all gone and saw a father with his daughter trying to find it and found it they were looking for it for his son’s birthday. I swear this why I might jump over to lorcana for collecting cards since it’s always stocked up

Collected very master set from Evolving Skies until this set. The scalped prices are absolutely disgusting and predatory. If this continues, the hobby is dead to me until the artificially inflated bubble pops.
My friend and I bought 12 packs in total and the only semi decent pull was a master ball Noibat. The rates are so ass I don't feel the urge to open anymore, which is admitedly amazing for my wallet.
Just stumbled across this channel. CHANGE NOTHING. (Except the camera quality). New sub and really love the edits and the way you convey information. Keep up the awesome work!
Great presentation, Love the channel, I was lucky enough to get 2 Prismatic Etbs & 2 binder collections for a little over msrp. Keeping them both sealed.
You have earned a fan in me. Thank you for reminding me that I should stick to buying singles and covering what me and my friends have been living through recently
The idea of printing more cards to help people get any is nice, but at the end of the day, it’s a collectors game. As someone who collected baseball cards in the 90’s, I know what flooding the market does to the value of the cards. You end up with a bunch of worthless cardboard because there are so many prints available there is no value from scarcity. You can go to your local antique market and still find unopened packs for pennies. So, while it would be nice to find more in the wild, it would devalue the property too much and eventually completely kill hype for wanting to buy them and crush the industry, as it did for baseball cards already. This applies to kids too. While they may not be looking to sell, there is a trade value to more rare items.
I managed to get some Pristmatic sticker boxes for relatively normal price and now I'm torn if I should even open them, because they're suddenly worth a lot of money. Way more than the cards they most likely contain. And all I really want from this set is Alt Art Ursaluna and full art Sylveon, maaaybe Leafeon. I know I am very unlikely to get any of these out of handful of packs, so it might actually be better to resell them to get money to get just these two or three. I have to literally consider becoming a scalper myself just to get just two cards from the set that I truly want.
You're one of the best channels ive seen recently talking about Pokemon card stuff! I only just got back into collecting because of TCG Pocket which is probably why it's so hard to find ANY product on shelves, not just Prismatic. Lots of people like me are coming back to collecting or recently joining. Hopefully Pokemon can keep up with the new demand.
i dont play pokemon but i do like the eevee cards and a friend told me about this set so i went to just my local gaming cafe and they had a box behind the counter and i got it for £50 which as a yugioh player £50 for a box with some sleeves 9 packs a promocard some energy cards to get you started in the game some dice and coins seemed pretty good. got one of all the eevee cards in mixed rarities got a flareon with a pokeball on it. i had no idea about what was going on with this set in terms of it just selling out everywhere but when i went to see how much the set was going for online because i was tempted to buy myself another box and i was like WTF but like i said im a yugioh player mostly and no one really buys product as they are dog water so i guess i wasnt to surprised that stuff was selling out as the bang for your buck seems pretty good with pokemon product but this whole thing is just insane to me
As someone who has only just now decided to maybe get into card collecting with a specific focus on Eevee and the eeveelutions, this whole thing is really making me reconsider it tbh. There are some beautiful eeveelutions in this set (I’m specifically eyeing the leafeon alt art) but I just don’t have enough money lying around to open tons of packs, even if I *could* find them for a reasonable price anywhere. I’ll just make do with the few cards I once bought at a flea market (they had plastic bags with 10 or 20 cards in them - I don’t recall whether I bought 1 or 2 bags - and some rare cards advertised to be in them, like an rng thing). The guardians rising Alolan Vulpix and shining fates Eevee I got from that *are* very pretty cards and they’ll do for now, until prices go back down (And I might check our Dutch second hand site for them too)
I went into my mall hoping to find the new set. But they were sold out at Toys R Us, sold out at costco, and a fight broke out in gamestop on the release day for the packs.
Its weird to see this as someone in Brazil The hit rates for the english cards are horrible compared to the Japanese and Brazilian cards, its crazy + the prices are insane!!! I payed what would be around 3 usd for a pack and got a masterball. Im friends with the owner of the card shop and he showed me a dude that got 8 packs and got a Vaporeon full art + 4 of the non full art prismatic eeveelutions.
I think the reason behind that is someone likely swiped cards from the English production line. Happened with evolving skies and chilling reign too, but the dude behind those got caught. Give it 3 years and someone on Facebook is gonna pop up with a stack of full-art umbreons.
Isn't the problem with printing more products... that you need to print more products. I don't know that much about the pokemon company but that probably would take them more printers. And if the next set won't be as hyped, these printers would've been an failed investment.
The fact that Costco is cancelling their orders of blooming waters is so sad. I got a set of pokemon cards from Costco for Christmas and it was such a fun time. An ETB, 5 pack tin and 4 pack tin for 100 CAD is such a good price. They weren’t even overhyped sets or anything but probably won’t see bundles like that after this fiasco.
Dang hearing the pull luck stories I guess I’m lucky having pulled a Demi-god pack from my 1 ETB… sad part was none of the 3 SIRs were an Eve- lution, only trainer SIRs… :,( Definitely better than nothing but it was also kinda heart breaking. Especially it looking like that’s probs the only product for PE that I’ll be getting, potentially, ever again or any time soon.
I managed to get my hands on a etb from a local card shop fo4 €70, they had a "one product per custumer" rule and even thought they have an online shop, you can only get it by grabbing it from the store. I had to wait in line for an hour on release day, I'm so greatfull for the way they handled it. As for the sticker collection, which I preordered in december, I'm still waiting... I had the option of swapping it for the german variants, which I didn't take. The shop I ordered from assured everyone that they would still get what they preordered and wouldn't cancel any, but they just don't know when they'd get more... well at least I getting mine for reasonable price...

Had a restock 4 days after, by the time i get from the back to the cards spot behind the counter, 16 people waiting, everything gone in 40min on a unofficial restock, and that was a really good restock
People were just rabid calling all day, touring every store an hour drive away
2 days after another restock lasting an hour 30
Limit won't fix it much, scalpers go outside and they pay ramdom people to buy stuff for them
At one of the walmarts I go to on occasion, there was a Walmart associate actively guarding the aisle while another associate stocked. I’m heading out that way again today to eat brunch with my grandfather and brother and will def try to stop by and see if there’s anything new, and to thank that guy again if I see him.
fred meyer where i work has limits on pokemon cards in my area. generally its 5 items but ive seen them limited to 1 prismatic item
Expecting a compant to care about customers over profit is uhhh...pointless, to say the least
Ever since 2020 corporations will spit in your face and tell you too bad because there's no other way to go about doing so.
i study graphic design and printers in uni and yeah they teach us about those tiny yellow dots. those are a thing to identify counterfeit money and other counterfeit documents
what year are you in?
@ 2nd semester 2nd year!
Out of curiosity what is stopping these scammers from adjusting the date on the printer to something more accurate?
@ that’s the interesting part! usually these security dots are only implemented on home inkjet or laser printers! as far as i’m aware, industrial printers don’t leave any of those marks, so basically official cards wouldn’t have the date printed on them like that at all
@ oh okay thanks!
2 weeks is a long time for this set unless they were charging quite a bit for it.
Pokémon fan here. The state of TGC is so bad, I feel bad for people who like the TCG for what it is, and not because it's an "investment". Sad to see a genuine hobby be converted into an opportunity to make money
Same with Legos, concert tickets etc. It is a joke of a society
@@Ivan2JuraI hope you find your glasses, it’s sucks losing such an expensive item.
and it kinda sucks when your favorite pokemon turns out to be the most expensive/rare card in the set. (mine being the umbreon and sylveon so its basically impossible for me to get it unless I want to spend an absurd amount of money to buy the single from these stupid scalpers)
they dont even have to open the cards, they can sell any of the products for 3-4x the price for guaranteed profit because there isnt any stock

Wow thanks! You just made my day!!

😂 he's already a UA-camr. Another channel.
We really really need more card shops like this.
I find it insane that there are cards on a set that was just released that sell for such high prices what the hell
Have u seen azur lane prices, dont let it be signed in silver or gold
The good ol rise and fall. If you wanna watch a great example of it look up the Rainbow Pikachu vmax situation, its hilarious.

I hate scalpers :(
My local shops are stocked with prismatic and 151 because no one is crazy enough to pay 3x normal price.
the pullrates are buns anyway
My LGS in Germany just started hosting Official Pokemon Liga TCG events and as they were aware of the scalping situation, they actually held back their etbs and poster collections for the attendees of their first event and allowed everyone to buy one product at the end. I got Lucky and got my hands on an ETB that evening, but ist probably my last prismatic evolutions purchase for the time being, even though I'd love to buy more.
Well, here's hoping they increase their production for the reprints and booster collections...

I want one of those fake play test cards almost as much as the real deal, the story behind them makes them really interesting
i work at mcdonalds and the first pokemon packs that came out that i remember was chaos.

Glad you think so!

the pokemon center in my country had to cancel the release because dangerous things were happening i love pokemon cards as much as the next person but hurting people is crazy

Found some PE at a local toy store. Bought 8 packs and pulled nothing. When I went back it was all gone, and they said they weren't getting any more in. One bro barged in and spent $500 on their entire stock of PE.
Screw this set. 😠
I honestly just wanted to buy some pokemon cards this year to start casually collecting and did not expect any of this nonsense that is going on lol
this reminds me of 2020 when everyone was stockpiling on toilet paper and milk
Patience is a virtue: But it was less than 3 hours and they were completely sold out in my city - to the point all the shop owners and a few GT/Walmart owners joined and made posts on Social media saying "Dont bother you guys got them all already"
AND THEN someone pulled an umbreon and sold it and went around town and bought EVERY SINGLE pokemon card pack/box everything in town so no one can even get normal "old" S&M/SWSH/SV cards.

1:49 Why is the paper shaped like Puerto Rico 🇵🇷!?! 💀
i dont play pokemon but i do like the eevee cards and a friend told me about this set so i went to just my local gaming cafe and they had a box behind the counter and i got it for £50 which as a yugioh player £50 for a box with some sleeves 9 packs a promocard some energy cards to get you started in the game some dice and coins seemed pretty good. got one of all the eevee cards in mixed rarities got a flareon with a pokeball on it. i had no idea about what was going on with this set in terms of it just selling out everywhere but when i went to see how much the set was going for online because i was tempted to buy myself another box and i was like WTF but like i said im a yugioh player mostly and no one really buys product as they are dog water so i guess i wasnt to surprised that stuff was selling out as the bang for your buck seems pretty good with pokemon product but this whole thing is just insane to me
Your voice is just so awesome
My brain can't compute the images and sounds 🥹
The guardians rising Alolan Vulpix and shining fates Eevee I got from that *are* very pretty cards and they’ll do for now, until prices go back down
(And I might check our Dutch second hand site for them too)
I went into my mall hoping to find the new set. But they were sold out at Toys R Us, sold out at costco, and a fight broke out in gamestop on the release day for the packs.
praying the etbs get reprinted to the ground aghhh the box is too pretty
They said they're turning the printers up. Let's see if they mean it
Its weird to see this as someone in Brazil
The hit rates for the english cards are horrible compared to the Japanese and Brazilian cards, its crazy + the prices are insane!!!
@oofy404 makes a lot of sence honestly. Gl to you if you are in the USA

Isn't the problem with printing more products... that you need to print more products. I don't know that much about the pokemon company but that probably would take them more printers. And if the next set won't be as hyped, these printers would've been an failed investment.
151 is even crazier imo. And team rocket is going to be blasting off again 💀
Dit you know you can also have date stamps on scan, I do not know this printer type but the dots could also be added by a scan.
Now I feel kinda bad that I live in a very tiny town since our walmart had shelves full of PE boosters...

My gamestop been closed since xmas, website says it still exist, store front done took the awning down already
Pokemon Cards are one step away from being NFTs simply because they are tangible and playable.
Dang hearing the pull luck stories I guess I’m lucky having pulled a Demi-god pack from my 1 ETB… sad part was none of the 3 SIRs were an Eve- lution, only trainer SIRs… :,(
Definitely better than nothing but it was also kinda heart breaking. Especially it looking like that’s probs the only product for PE that I’ll be getting, potentially, ever again or any time soon.
My last pack magic with the set was a Masterball Umbreon.
I haven't been able to get anymore cards since release.
