    I just got a set of dishes made from this. It’s very impressive. It feels like heavy duty plastic. It’s a lot lighter than plastic though. The only recommendation on the packaging says to avoid microwaving with tomato and curry based sauces because it could stain it and to avoid cutting all the way through on it because a knife can scratch it. But a set of 8 dishes I got off amazon was $18 and I really like them. It’s a smart way of making use of the straw that would otherwise be burned or end up in a landfill. And it’s environmentally responsible, though I don’t actually care about that stuff. But I do feel pretty good about the idea that I am doing something less wasteful with a product.

    This is amazing. Hopefully we'll stop using petroleum based plastic sooner rather than later. It's lovely seeing people working in the manufacturing process. We never think about the people behind the products we use.

      "Wheat straw" are just words for a marketing campaign. In fact, they are not biodegradable

      @@areksoko Certainly not biodegradable once plastic is mixed in, Its a hiding place for plastic. I wonder what the ratio is.

    What is whear straw plastic ?

    • @Traderjoe
      @Traderjoe Рік тому +2

      The wheat plant has a lot of stalks that the wheat itself grows on. 🌾 See the yellow? That’s the wheat. The green is the stalk. They take the green stalks and dry them out and that becomes straw. That straw is chopped up into a powder and that powder is mixed with a binder (think about a glue) and when it dries, becomes a solid. That solid is wheat straw plastic. As it dries it can be shaped into different products.

      My guess its a release agent, so the product is easier to unmold when its finished.

    This video DOS NOT show the entire manufacturing process. It only shows how turn turn the plastic beads into a moulded product the same as any other plastic. It COMPLETELY leave out how the Wheat Straw Plastic is made. This video is completely useless, I could have just watched a video on plastic moulding.
