This is one of the reasons Glinda isnmt evil. She might be vain at times, but she still cares for Elphaba. She's not evil, she's just been raised under the idea of perfectionism
She evil af 🤣 in every wizard of oz version the green witch dies, not to mention Glinda is the reason for her dying. Glinda made Dorthy come to oz have her the shoes yet didn’t tell her she could’ve went home the whole time. She made Dorothy do all that shit and could’ve died.
@@TruuColorZ that doesn't happen in the original book though. In the book Dorothy only meets Glinda at the very end, and Glinda apologises she didn't get to meet her sooner because she could have helped her avoid that whole journey. They just changed it for the film

So because your dad was vain and prejudiced, he made your mother partake in dangerous medicine that had unintended repercussions for her and the baby and then rather than explore his own faults and decisions that led to this situation, he blames his young daughter who did nothing but be born with a non-conventional skin color? Sounds like a real winner, that dad.
No it was not Elphaba's fault. It was the parents. The mother cheated and drank this green liquid which made Elphaba green. Then the father made the mother drink those dang milkflowers because they didn't want their other daughter to be green. Worst yet, they didn't want to bother raising her so the bear raised Elphaba all on their own. Awful parents..
That’s the point of Glinda’s line. She tends to be a little shallow and bimbo-ish sometimes. She sees the actions more than the person a lot of the time.
The "cheating" is changed from the play and the books, to make the story a little more palettable. In the play, elphaba's mother *does* go out with a mysterious stranger while her husband is away because hes a stickler and she wants to have fun. But the stranger slips her the green elixir and r*pes her.
@@alanjyuI disagree. The mom should not have cheated in the first place. Both are to blame. Mom and dad. There are better ways to handle all these things. If you do not feel satisfied with your partner in bed, there are other ways to satisfy yourself. Plus it is not fun to give birth to a kid and force that Kid to suffer. Trust me, that kid if they had the opportunity would beg that you should not be their parents. As much as they act tough, it hurts. I blame mom and dad
I relate to this I’m biracial and my parents divorced when I was an infant ( mostly because of my moms racist relatives) When I was older and she was supposed to marry my sisters dad I could tell he didn’t want to marry her because of me. I carried that around for decades. He finally admitted that is why he didn’t marry her and my mom and sister told me not to blame myself, but it messed up my sister’s relationship with her dad her entire life. Kids carry burdens and sins that shouldn’t be theirs to carry
I think he used you as a bs excuse. He had no issues having sex with your mom and a child with her, but marrying is too far? It's not like marrying her would have been different from dating. He just didn't want to commit that it. I know r4cist are dumb but this is on another level.
To me, it seems like her dad just didn't want to be committed to your mom and sister. Your sister is right. He is a pos, and it has nothing to do with you. Men will blame everyone for not taking responsibility but themselves.
::hugs:: It’s your MOTHER’s fault, for no clearly understanding the impact of race, & choosing a man (after your dad) who was equally as racist. You did nothing wrong. I wish you peace & tranquility, Sis.❤

I was about to ask this because I saw the play years ago so I don't remember certain details except for that spoiler. Thanks for helping me remember the full story! Also, wasn't it the Wizard trying to use the elixir to give himself powers? I forgot lol
the only reason elphaba is green is bc of the green drink thing that you see her mum drink at the start(idk if am wrong i haven’t watched it in a few weeks)
@tamipierce5916 y'all just be catching on and pretend this sort of messaging just come up this decade when its a prominent aspect of the book and the musical 😭 Just yapping and not thinking
It’s certainly not elphaba’s fault but it’s kind of a stretch to blame the milkflowers, they didn’t ask to be eaten. Maybe blame the idiot whose vanity, shame. and arrogance caused him to push his wife to eat high volumes of dangerous herbs because he couldn’t reconcile the fact that his child had an unconventional skin color.
@@LucíanPDJI disagree with what they said too but implying they can't judge acting if they aren't a professional actor is very dumb. I'm not an actor but I know awful acting when I see it. Wicked is based on The Wizard Of Oz, but is not meant to be kid friendly. It was originally a series of novels written by Gregory Maguire in the 90s, before it was turned into a broadway musical in the 2000s. The movie follows the same storyline as the previous iterations from the past, none of which have been very kid friendly, I'm afraid.

Yup! Sounds like “playing victim” and “gaslighting” 😂
Yep her dad sucks 😂
well said. i wish they had given glinda the good sense to say it was the dad's fault and not the milkflowers
Great summary 😂
That dad is the wizard of oz

Please don't make this about yourself racism doesn't exist in America anymore really so stop
Itd not like even milkflowers fault bat the fathers i think
Welcome to narcissistic abuse. If you’ve been raised in a bubble to believe it’s your fault, you believe it too.
Both the parents were at fault. Her mom cheated on her father which started all this mess in the first place.
Elphaba great acting 👍👏
I can't stand them both
In this case it was her father's fault. The father killed her mother and made her sister come out physically challenged.
Oh that hurts
Your father may have been mad that your mom cheated but you were just a baby who happened to be born green, neither of which is your fault.
I think I'll end up watching the movie in shorts

Elphaba is green because her mother was cheating and drank green elixir. The one she was cheating with is the Wizard of Oz. Elphaba is the Wizard's daughter.
And what is the elixir for?
@@luizmarinho6138 maybe it's to make sure she didnt get pregnant from cheating? Idk lol

This spoiler has NOTHING to do with the scene, what's the reason of your comment?
Acting on point ❤❤
What is this movie?
cuteeee! happy holidays, guys! ❤
That man hated her since she was born but I’m glad she didn’t know the full thing ❤
This parallels closely how daughters often experience their fathers: abusive, accusatory, lacking empathy, projecting blame
Green make-up and a wig really does improve her looks.
Magical

What’s wrong with Nessa?
She's in a wheelchair.
She can't walk.
@ Thanks
Nothing is “wrong” with Nessa
Go watch the movie
She's NOT responsible for her father's actions.
It’s 1000% better when nessa doesn’t have Arms and is an accepted love child instead of just a patsy put in a wheelchair
So it's the dad's ignorance
It wasn‘t the milkflowers fault, nur her fathers!
Why is she always smirking 😏
Why did i think elphaba was the witch who died at the beginning of oz?
Watch the Wizard of Oz and watch Wicked again 😉
It's not the child's fault 😭
Is it me or does her green skin look cgi?
just you
It does look that way in this scene, like it's just green lighting on her. In other scenes, it seems more like makeup.
Elphie isn’t green, she’s clearly an ordinarily gorgeous black woman.
the mom cheated on the dad though with the wizard of oz right? i think that's what i remember it said in the book
And really her and her sister look so different from eachother because her mom was a cheater lol
Elpaba glinda
This movie seems to be hiding racism in pure site
With how woke america has been since Biden's been in office it doesn't surprise me.....!!
Youre late to the party cause it was about racism from 20 years ago.😂
The movie is essentially beat for beat with the musical.

Why does elphaba do that with her mouth 💀
Do wat
They're starving, can they please have food ?
hmmm
It’s not even the flowers fault it’s her Fathers he’s such a Douce I hated him more than any other character in the film.
At least she admits her faults that's the first step of forgiveness
Glinda: I have a secret well there was this woman and her husband came onto ME but it wasn’t my fault you see he came ONTO me 😂😂😂😂

Its both the parents’ fault.
