In this video I give an easy to understand description and step by step instruction on how to install Visual Studio Code on Windows 10. We will also show how to configure visual studio code to run different versions of python. Your life will be easier and my life will be easier if we both are using the same IDE and have it configured the same.

This channel is a real gem for engineers, thanks to your series on the jetson, I got accepted for a job. Thank you very much sir. Keep on the good work!
Great to hear!
Perfect teacher. Every teacher should be like that, and students should look forward to school. A deep bow.
Started following your AI series. You're making my AI life easier by creating such easy understanding series. Thanks Paul for sharing
I just came across your channel and this series, and I want to thank you Paul. This series has gotten me excited to actually get out of bed in the morning during a pretty rough time. Thank you!
Glad to hear it!
Thank you SO MUCH for these lesson sir! At 65 I’ve come back to coding after a career as a project/product manager for a software company. I hated coding in C (all iterations) and Java so I preferred a track where I interfaced with customers and assisted the code cutters to understand the users’ needs for a product. Learning from you has made coding fun again!
I love banana fruit!
I work with Mac OS Catalina and I succeeded to configure it the same way you did
Thanks again Paul this was very helpful!
Thanks a lot Paul for these tutorials .Really love your tutorials
Banana
Sorry to hear about your container problems hopefully, it will be taken care of quickly. Learned a bit about how to select the version you want to use. I do love Bananas. Thanks, Paul.
Banna is good, your lessons are even better! Thank you sir.😀
Thank you dear @Paul McWhorter for the beautiful teaching, I like your backward "banana" tree and how "Banana" has come in the tree. God bless you more.
I really love learning more about how to control what we are working with more, I feel like I am learning a new language from you a new way of life, every lesson I learn new words, and new concepts. Keep it up please Paul. also Bananas are an excellent source of potassium, the Simpsons movie taught me that!
Wonderful!
A great video series and bananas. What could be a better combination.
Lessons 2, 3, and 4 have been most useful. Thanks.
Great to hear!
@@paulmcwhorter cant wait for all the rest to be the most useful!
You're absolutely right !
These 4 lessons will serve any python user to understand how to manage multiple python versions, libraries, virtual environment and using VSCode.
great stuff, I will alternate with the Arduino contents....I finally feel confident to work with Virtual environments in python and keep track of them. I am using an old Windows 7 32 bit machine and could not install python 3.9. Hope I can still follow along without problems!
I am envious of your compound, it sounds amazing! Your own homegrown bananas and salads look lovely :)
Yep, really enjoy a lifestyle where we grow most of what we eat.
I am so greatfull to you Mr paul. This is the best resource to learn AI on youtube!!
Bananas
Banana.
Thank you for the lessons Mr. McWhorter. These are really helpful.
Frantically trying to catch up. Major health issues put me on hold for two years. 30 stays in 6 years...
Here in AU we have 'banaRnas' no banaaanas. 🤠
Thanks again - great stuff.
Glad you are back! Pray you have a good run of robust health now.
I was waiting for this so much.🤩
Thank you paul
Bananas!!! Thank you for this awesome tutorial, Paul.
"Banana" There I made up till the end and happy there was no homework
I like the way you present and the way you teach thanks alot u made our life easier
Waiting for you to make some tutorials about video editing
Banana. Thank you so much; your lessons are just amazing.
Thank you! 😃
Thanks Paul! This lesson has given me a pattern for an orderly organization and control of my code. The code is "Bananas" They look good! I wish you can show us around your compound...
Great job!
I really folded like a cheap Walmart lawn chair.
my interpreter is not changing .
going to watch supplement video.
thanks gramps for these amazing content .
lol the problem was lame i had code runner extension and when i was running the program it wasn't showing me interpreter name and i was typing python on terminal hoping that it will show my selected terminal😂😂.
i run the program i dedicated terminal and it was indeed running in my selected interpreter.
Hey Paul, Great lessons thanks and I love banana.
Great info on how to use VS Code. Thank you! Bananas
Thanks, Paul. Go bananas!
Thanks dear sir for considering My request ...
You are really Jem... 👍👍👍💞💞💞💕💕💕

Is there some lesson to use VSC Debugger or will it come? Thx!
BANANA !
These AI lessons from #1 to #4 are very useful for any use of Python and understand Virtual environment and how to manage them then with the use of VSCode ! I still hate the cup of coffee introduction and later on in the video, but good content anyway !
You should give us a video tour of your banana plantation and self sufficient garden
Getting this to work on my macbook drove me... wait for it... Bananas!
Question: Do we have to run the power shell back to restricted after configuring our virtual environments? Will leaving it as remotesigned have any negative effect on my computer?
PS - Love the lessons
Great work. I really love the way to take it forward. Banana!!
REally appreciate that. Thanks!
Do I need to get the Webcam or can I just use the camera on my M1 MacBook Air?
Hello Paul,
Great lesson as always !!!!! Do we need to install open CV2 for windows 10 or will that be installed in a future lesson? Thanks again for your great teaching !!!!! Rick
Will do it in the next lesson
Hey, Paul, do you have a forum or some way to discuss things with other "virtual students"? I have some ideas it would be helpful to discuss with others that have watched your content.
i am enjoying this series very much, and i am also watching your how to be a successful engineer series while entering highschool. Also, Bananas
Een leuke les Paul, Thanks & Bananas Que chevere!
Banana 🍌 , great series with an amazing teacher! 👍👍👍
Thank you so much Philippe! I am sorry I missed the premier, but TIF as they say (This is Africa), where unexpected things happen at the worst possible time. I was able to get everything sorted out, but it was a challenge. Promise to do my best to not miss premiers in the future.
Excellent sir

Why was Visual Studio added, and how can it benefit my Arduino projects that were originally created without Visual Studio? I'm certain there's a reason, but I haven't been able to discern it. Thanks for any clarification.
As of March 2022, when you click on Install Extension Icon and select the first one to install Python extension that says Intellisense (pylance), Linting ... the screen that appears is a screen that is entitled Get started with Jupiter Notebooks. To See the screen PJM is showing at 8:02, click on the words in blue at the top "
banana!! Great lesson (as always) Thanks a whole lot!!
This content is BANANAS!
thank you for making these videos, love your content! Banana:)
My pleasure!
I prefer my "bananas" with a little green near the top. Not too ripe! Those "bananas" look perfect.
Try leaving the bananas on the plant until there's no green left on them. Trust me. 😋 they pick em early for shipping but they taste better fully ripened on the stalk.
Hello @Paul McWhorter !!
Thank you for the great lessons.
I am having some issues regarding getting the virtual environment while searching for python interpreter in VS Code
I have followed the your previous lessons regarding the same but still having the issue
can anyone please help me in this regards
I have the same problem, did you figure out what was wrong?
Banana. Also my VSCode hung up tying to find the python extension, I had to downgrade that python extension downloaded in the video to the previous version to get it to act right. If you get stuck at that loading screen this may help alleviate it.
Thank you Paul!
Banana
After teaching AI can you teach us how to create a programming or scripting language using Python?
Bananas! VSC working properly now.
Paul I have installed visual studio on your 3D graphics lessons. Can I just add new programme and point it to the folder we did in lesson 2 ? As I need to access the other files for the other lessons you are doing ?
You can have one working folder and then depending on lesson, choose different virtual environment. I would do AI in python 3.6 in a virtual environment.
@@paulmcwhorter ok thank you
@@paulmcwhorter thank you Paul just one word to complete is banana see you soon
banana, love your teaching.
So glad!
Banana is my source of energy ⚡
can u make a series on how to program arduino robots btw u teaching skills are amazing
Hi Paul, I have created virtual environment but it is not visible in the visual studio. Please guide.
Hey, I have the same problem, did you figure out what went wrong?
Setup to go, Banana!
Thanks you your videos are great I'm also doing your fusion 360 banana
cant wait for next week, banana.
Thank you Paul, Banana 🍌
So, what's the advantage of python virtual environment ? Maybe I missed it? Bananna btw.
Banana, Thanks Paul!
Hello Paul. I have a request .can you teach to program the Arduino through the visual code so that we do not use a lot of IDE .It is confusing to switch between all IDE
PlatformIO is one extension for VS that you can use to do this.
@@pauldgrey Thank you very much for your answer I would be very happy if you would teach the subject.
Visual Studio Code doesn't make Suggestions on opencv commands. It's only making suggestions on fundamental commands. Can anyone knows how to fix it.
YES
BANANA!!!
Hi Mr. McWhorter,
I hope this message finds you well. I realize I may be a couple of years late in reaching out, but I have a few minor questions that have been weighing on my mind.
Firstly, I've noticed that when you import cv2, your VSCode automatically highlights the syntax in green. I've attempted to replicate this by using the same color theme as yours (Monokai), but I haven't been able to achieve the same effect as shown in your video. Could you please share how you managed to achieve this?
Secondly, I observed that at the end of one of your videos, when you activate your virtual environment, there isn't any name of your virtual environment displayed in green before the file path. However, in the following lessons, the virtual environment name (pyAI3.6) is highlighted in green appears before the file path. I've already activated my virtual environment, but similar to this video, I don't have the (pyAI3.6) displayed on my terminal. Could you provide some insight into why this might be the case?
thank you!
Respect! Power! BANANA!
Banana!
I agree, nobody really reads the terms of service, if they want people to read it they should make it short.
Dear sir I have a little knowledge about c programming but I am completely new to python. To continue with your series should I learn python first or I will get to learn it through your series. Plz reply
It would be good and go back and take my first several lessons on python. You would enjoy this class more if you have a few basics in python.
@@paulmcwhorter thanks sir. I am already on it.
I also have a background in C, and I have found the python classes to be a great help in learning the syntax. All the concepts are, for the most part, the same. However, not declaring variable types drives me a bit bananas.
Good information and Nice bananas
Banana. Thanks for the lessons
Half Bananas. Like quite a few folk when I cont/shift/P I cant discover the virtual files. I can get them via AI folder/Scripts/python.exe, but if you close VSCode and reopen the virtual file disappears. I guess I can work around that but it would be nice to know why your setup leads to the right path, but it doesn't work for some others.
Hmmm . . .not sure. Usually if you kill visual studio and reopen it finds the virtual environments IF THEY ARE IN THE Visaul studio working folder
I think I found the problem. At 11:03 into lesson 4, Mr. McWhorter sets his working folder to users\...\documents\python which happens to be the folder where the pyAI environments were set up. He says we can use any folder we want. Since I like to store my data and programs on a different drive I used a different folder. But when I went to Select Interpret, my virtual environments were not among the choices. Through experimentation, I found that if I set the working folder to users\...\documents\python the Select Interpreter finds all of the virtual environments that we set up. After I have called the Select Interpreters, it appears I can change the working folder and it can still find the interpreters, but if I shutdown Visual Studio and restart it, I have to go back to the python folder to enable it to find the virtual environments. It seems that you should be able to put the virtual environments in the path (Using Edit the Environmental System Variables), but I have not been able to make that work.
BANANA ! very useful video !
Hmmm? I'm not seeing my virtual environments, but do see the four installed version, 3.9, 3.8, 3.7, & 3.6.
Those are your virtual environments. You got it!
Lesson 3 we had to install 3.6 and 3.8 as homework.
@@ICit123 Not so Peter, those are the ones in the Path. Watch the Lesson 4 Supplemental video to understand, as I do now, why they were not showing up.
Banana. Thanks a lot as usual.
Thx Paul_TQ_ Bananna!
