@@SlaintheMhathThey literally were gifted that first try, had nearly all the attacking possession in that first half and that was the only try they scored. Not taking any credit away from Penrith, but they were only better for the last 20 minutes of the game.
Give some credit to Kevin. Who would have picked the Broncos making the grand final this year? At 24-8 with 20 min left I thought they had in the bag. But this Panthers team know how to win grand finals.
I can't easily believe that Adam Reynolds gave the game away on a golden plate to Penrith. His sort line drop out cause the loss. I for one would definitely blame him. This is a damn grand final. There is no 100% absolute chance of Broncos getting the ball with his sort kicks. There is a contest from both sides and Penrith got possession of most of the sort kicks and scored 3 consecutive unanswered tries. He should have considered the yards, kick away from their Broncos 50m yard and continue defend and finish the game on high note. Congrats to Ezra Mam for the 3 tries. Trumps !!
I couldn’t believe what I was seeing, short drop out in the first 15 minutes while still 0-0 which led to their first try, then another one out on the full which led to being up 8-0, then another one out on the full in the 2nd half to give them the ball 10m out. Unbelievable from someone with so much experience.
No lies. Every single time this man positioned himself to kick short I couldn't stop walking out bcs it mostly goes both ways, either too short or out on the full, but there's a very slim chance of retrieving it. Yet when they got that chance the first time Penrith scored literally right off of it and he still decided to stick to it through out the game SMH. If it doesn't work once or twice, don't keep testing it in an important and crucial game. Also I hurt for Ezra, he put on a show and now I'm a fan. I also really think Bronx would've won if Reece got involved more bcs man was he dangerous every time he touched the ball. Had he took the the game by the horns like Cleary did Penrith would'nt be able to contain him even with Cleary on fire. But in the end, it comes down to who wants it more and Cleary showed it. What a beautiful game it was.
This Broncos team will win a comp if they stick together, next year 1. Fullback - Selwyn Cobbo 2. Right Wing - Corey Oates 3. Right Centre - Kotoni Staggs 4. Left Centre - Deine Mariner 5. Great year for Broncos. Best Grand Final for years. Great refereeing he let the game flow. Plenty of upside for next year. Supporters should be proud of them.
@RyanSymons Please watch the 1989 GF again in full once the dust settles on the '23 GF. Yes there was individual brilliance on both teams in Mam & Cleary. Obviously the greatest comeback in GF history & I'll acknowledge that no matter how you slice it with choking etc, it still was the greatest individual performance by Nathan Cleary in the final 17 mins in GF History. He basically single handedly guided his side to the Premiership. unlike Mr Adam Reynolds who has now failed in 2021 & 2023 with two different clubs.
@@MartyMcFly3 That 89 GF is still the best ever, the extra time, Balmain being favorites, the unsung hero in Steve Jackson, scoring the winning try. A young Laurie Daley, and so many other greats of the game; Meninga; Blocker Roach; Sironen; Belcher.; Pearce...etc stacked across the park with internationals. The first side outside of Sydney. Canberra made history that day as well.
I was at the 89 grand final and yes it was great but for 80 minutes this grand final was way better. Penrith and the Broncs went at each other non stop for 80mins.
When he did he was dangerous, but in the end it comes down to who wants it more and Cleary showed he wanted it by getting involved more and going after it. Walsh in the whole first half was waiting for the game to come to him, a grand final isn't that type of game to do that.
Marty Does it really matter. Penrith won its theirs. Reynolds probably didn't realise what was actually happening in his mind in those moments after the game
Broncos made one mistake that changed the game. Having just gone up 24-8 they had a set and on last tackle about 25 metres out ... they just went to ground without kicking. It was bizzare and just gave the Panthers hope. Cleary put Leotta unfer the posts the next set. Rest is history.
Deadset the turning point of the game for me, I was waiting for a cross field kick to Cobbo and we end up throwing a short pass to a decoy runner and handing it over from 30m out. LIKE WTF WAS THAT
Is it really a choke when they are narrowly beaten by one of the most elite teams of all time? Plenty of teams get run down and beaten by bigger scores in the modern game.
Yep, not a broncos supporter, but this is the kind of game that would put me off the sport if it was my team. 16 up with 20 to go, and you just give up, it's astonishing.

I love kevy's demeanor as a coach. What a respectable coach and he deserves his credit for bringing back the broncos to the position they are in right now. They'll be there again next year
It was a strange turn of events. Herbie's attempted offload down penrith's end on the 3rd tackle, up 16points. Reynold's dropout to Cleary on the full. The time in which the only 6 again of the game was called.
lets be down this week and get ready for next season. Lets accept that we gave the game away. The big thing is we are ready to go again next year. Definitely we'll be in the GF come 2024. I am sick to my stomach seeing us loss but it is what it is.
Some really poor performances for the Panthers tonight like Yeo & most notably Tago who was woeful. But it was Adam Reynolds who failed to deliver in the final 17 mins up 24-8. There's nowhere to hide from that.

I still feel physically sick after that last 20 minutes. 2 Grand Finals and neither team could get it done. Very disappointing for Brisbane footy fans! What a disaster of a weekend. Being a footy fan can really, really suck sometimes. Congratulations Penrith. The Broncos choked it and handed you another premiership.
after Ezra got the hat trick that was the game . all Reynolds had to do was slow the game down & have the boys grind it out . Broncos had all the momentum but couldn’t handle the pressure .
Stil can’t believe what even happened then broncos fully stoped playing and tackling, the game was won. 16 mins to go and 16 up. Carrigan drops ball inside his 40. Reynolds kick on fourth inside his own half lands on Penrith 30m line. Then runs on fifth tackle and hands over too Penrith on there 20m line. No directing play last ten mins. Didn’t touch th me ball. Playing one out missed tackles. They full all thought they won and stopped. Reynolds lost that game there
I feel bad for Ezra Mam. To play from what i could tell a flawless game, scores a hat-trick only to be let down by other team mates. I honestly would'nt blame him if he quit the game and took up Tennis or golf.
True, it was also Reece time to keep the momentum going after Ezra's tries. He began to get the ball a little more and was dangerous, but couldn't grab the game by the horns just like what Cleary did. Ezra deserves his flowers for what he did so early on in the game, he was the catalyst for the Bronx momentum throughout the whole game.
Broncos won’t get another chance for a comp for a while now losing fleglar and Farnworth and they would have to give Walsh and mam a significant bump up so they’ll be losing a few more
Crichton was far more instrumental in that comeback than Cleary was don't get me wrong Cleary was great but Crichton was the main ingredient without his big plays in that last 20 Brisbane win

@@badabing8152 How many points did the Panthers get from Cleary's 40 20 ? How many tackles did Cleary miss for Mam to score his hat trick ?
This Broncos team will win a comp if they stick together, next year

BEST NRL GRAND FINAL EVER WITHOUT A DOUBT BUT 1989 STILL REMAINS THE UNDISPUTED BEST.
@mufc261 Soccer is a Sheila's game ...
I'm still hurting over '89
I was at the 89 grand final and yes it was great but for 80 minutes this grand final was way better. Penrith and the Broncs went at each other non stop for 80mins.

Walsh didn’t touch the ball !!! All the excitement he brings he left it a home
When he did he was dangerous, but in the end it comes down to who wants it more and Cleary showed he wanted it by getting involved more and going after it. Walsh in the whole first half was waiting for the game to come to him, a grand final isn't that type of game to do that.
Can somebody enlighten me on Reynolds post match podium speech... Never acknowledged the Panthers & went out of his way to thank Adam Gee 🤷🏽♂️

Broncos the greatest CHOKERS...
LIKE WTF WAS THAT
Especially with our height advantage we have on both wings. UNBELIEVABLE!!!!! Where EFFFF is our kicks to the wingers. FFS

Some really poor performances for the Panthers tonight like Yeo & most notably Tago who was woeful. But it was Adam Reynolds who failed to deliver in the final 17 mins up 24-8. There's nowhere to hide from that.

Great game ,here is 2 things in the fundamentals of rugby league you learn from a junior ,
1.repeat possession is critical 3times in 20mins broncos didn't complete sets and get the ball back panthers did 4times 1 out on the full helped.
2. Defence as a unit is what wins games
