Nice! 3rd gear has a nice long pull from the speed you were at and also a nice loud vtec engagement/growl. The problem with the TLX is the 9-speed. Off the line, they are great, but doing a pull, the gears are so closely spaced and it doesn’t shift fast enough.
Yah they shine pretty good until 1st & 2nd, but then rpms start dropping too much and too slow in between shifts. Hopefully ktuner can start tuning the tranny soon on them🤞.
Ive got a 2005 TL with the 6 speed manual trans , with limited slip and factory front Brembo brakes . Its a blast . And the 1/4 mile and the top speed, is about as fast as my 2003 ap1 S2000 was .
@@RevsALot the TLX’s gearing is different from all other ZF9’s used by Honda. 10AT would’ve been excellent. Would be interesting to drive the RLX with the 10 speed.
You would think the TLX would have the best performance 9spd ZF since it's the sportiest of them all, but I dunno🤷♂️. Wish they would've put the RLX Sport Hybrid 7Spd DCT, man the TLX would've been mid 13s stock.
Would like to see either 3rd gen tl type s vs a 4th gen sh awd or a 3rd gen tl type s vs new tlx type s. Already seen a 4th gen sh awd vs the new tlx type s.

I waited till his car downshifted then I floored it from around 3-3500 rpm, if would've rolled around 5500rpm it would've been about 3 busses or more lol
@@RevsALot dealer (criswell Acura) told me they purposely overbuilt and underpowered the car for "reliably beating the piss out of it." lmao. Once aftermarket opens up more a base tune should bring it to at least 400 crank. That'll move out of its own fat way, finally lol.

Agreed! I had both a 16 3.5 PAWS and later the 19 version which was quicker for some reason. Without the added weight of SH-AWD, it’s very light on its feet and very much in its element in a roll race.

Yah unfortunately the transmission is it's downfall, we have a 2018 Aspec also. It's really planted in the turns, and love exterior and interior design.
And even if it’s not than it equals out anyway and idk what mods you got but the TLs of you know how to drive them are faster anyway at least for 2012 2013
@@AnthonyParrilloRI I have a '18 Aspec TLX SH-AWD(well the gf)..weighs 1700kg with lightweight wheels(40 lbs. Lighter then OEM)..that's what my TL weighs atm + I had passenger. I have yet to see good proof of which one is quicker low end or top end stock for stock with the autos. My money is on the 4th Gen though.
TLX cuts out at 200km. 70km-200km is a race. Unless you want to see me keep pulling on a car that can't go any faster🤔? It's an auto you put it to the floor, and it shifts itself so no racing skills required lol.

The TLX needed the MDX/Pilot gearing. The TL moves so well.
They all have the same ZF 9Spd until 2021, but yes the 10spd with the 3.5 TLX would've been amazing.

The DCT would’ve been excellent but i guess we’ll never know.

A spec FWD tlx are faster but clean runs!
