Can see why it was difficult for Brandt to get selected. And yes, with that level of talent in midfield, versatility and form would be the difference makers for selection.

Agreed with a lot of what you had to say, I question Nagelsmann big time, I hope he proves me wrong though and time will tell. Few points here: 1) Mats Hummels: Not appearing in the 2022 World Cup and now Euro 2024 is absolutely criminal! Hummels is one the greatest German CB's ever and in my opinion still the best all around Central Defender we have. Absolutely a snubbing 110%! Löw took a lot of heat for formation at Euro 2020, but I liked the back 5 with Gosens, Rüdiger, Hummels, Ginter and Kimmich. 2) Aleksandar Pavlović: In my opinion a panic pick to show commitment to him so he didn't choose Serbia instead. Don't like this pick much as the same when Flick selected Bella and Moukoko for the World Cup. Much better, bigger, stronger, more experienced players were left at home. 3) Nico Schlotterbeck: Never been a fan of this guy. Not a lot of pace there, poorly timed challenges, terrible man marking, too many errors. Open to being proven wrong; but, I'm skeptical. 4) Germany has an embarrassment of riches where they can leave players like Goretzka, Gosens, Reus, Can, Brandt, Trapp, Götze, Süle, Ginter, Klostermann, Wolf, Hofmann, Draxler, Gnabry, Werner, Volland, Rexhbeçaj, Behrens, Ducksch, Berisha, Günter, Arnold, Weigl, Halstenberg, Stark, Neuhaus, Amiri, Dahoud, Stach, Kramer, Knoche, Netz, Weiser, Stindl, Demirbay, Hack, Stiller, Gruda, etc at home and not even bat an eye. Here's to hoping for a great tournament.
