Tribute to the Irish Freedom Fighters of the Easter Rising 1916

On the 24th of April 1916 members of the Irish Republican Brotherhood took control of the Dublin post office and declared independance from the United Kingdom, the British Army sent 16'000 soldiers in response, the Irish freedom fighters held out for days of shelling and assaults by the British forces, once the Rising was defeated, the British Army executed many Irish republicans, many of whom had little to do with the rising, this en-raged the Irish population and lead to years of fighting for independance and a civil war, the end result was a free, democratic Irish republic, but the Northern part of Ireland which is mostly Unionist remains part of the United Kingdom. (And for the record - I do not supported the Provincial IRA terrorist group in any way.)

My great Grandmother was in Cumann Na mBan in 1916 she was in 6th Battalion D coy and my Great Grandfather her future husband was also severed in 1916 he was apart of the company in Bolands mill.
