Short maps are really weird. Most of the time, short maps are designed to award as much pp in as short amount a time as possible. As such, they have often been scrutinized by members of the osu! community. Often times, we call these types of maps farm maps because of how easy it is to retry these maps repeatedly until you get the score you want. To prevent issues from short maps breaking the pp system, a minimum drain time of 30 seconds is required for a map to be eligible to be ranked. However, there was a time when the ranking criteria was less strict and didn't have this requirement. So that begs the question, what is the shortest map in osu!, and how long is it? As dirty pp farmers, let's answer this question together and find the best farm map.

yeah its funny listening to std players talk about "marathon" maps and this and WLL 1 hour is as long as they have lol
from what i remember, both of those 2007 maps are under 30 seconds long because ranked score used to be the meta and if a map had too much combo (resulting in too much score) it would become approved instead.
Well for that to be an issue maps would have to usually be like 4 minutes long anyway from what I remember so that probably wasn't the reason why these were ranked
both maps have fully mapped difficulties, i assume they didnt finish the top diff and decided to upload it anyway
And by breaking score I mean the score being high thingie.

I shown my classmate survival dance and it was his first 4 and 5* pass
He was 7 digit at the time

GN has both an FL FC on the longest ranked map and an #1 on the shortest ranked map (With 4mod)

actually wrong, there is a ctb map that is 9 seconds (on site, 8 in client) that is loved (your criteria was that it wasnt graveyarded or unranked, loved is kinda ranked, but no pp) beatmap 789087, Grief & Malice Platter difficulty
the beatmap was at one point ranked, but reduced to loved in 2018
(there are no approved maps below 30 seconds unless you count the first diff of the unforgiving which is exactly 30 seconds)

You actually can rank shorter than 30s maps, just put a really long slider at the end
Those maps are still over 30 seconds long, the game just doesn't count the time after the last clicked object (slider head in this case) to the total drain time.

technically ( and only technically ) speaking the unforgiving isn’t the longest map in the “ game “ , it’s the longest ranked map , but there’s some map that’s like an hour and 22 mins long unranked
my problem is ADHD my attention drops with maps longer that 2 min, so badly that i ended up failing or having bad acc , ofc i try to get better but i cannot do much about it sadly, i should maybe pause a longer map but you don't always have this chance

The Unforgiving isn’t the longest map in the game. There is a ranked mania 4k map “The Parallax II: Future Sequence” that is 72 minutes long

I totally forgot about the twice megamix, thanks for mentioning it. I forgot to specify that The Unforgiving is the longest RANKED map in the entire game. The twice megamix is graveyarded so I didn't include it, but yes, it's the longest map (or at least I think).
