I think that's the thing that's overlooked about her a lot. She certainly has this style and flair to her dances that she owns and executes well. A signature of sorts. People can compare her to every other Kpop dancer out there but I feel like she's entirely on a league of her own.
It's not ignored. They do not hyper focus on her actual dancing proficiency. The level of kpop idols are low bar compared to her actual level. And if you see these and see the way Blackpink perform you understand that she's actually holding back a little so that the as the other 3 (Jennie, Chaeng and Jisoo) steps up their level higher than usual kpop idols they meet in the middle and be all in the higher level which is what Blackpink standard is. Nonetheless. You have to understand fully that Lisa has been dancing and performing on stage since 4 to 5 years old. And she's 23 years old now. Imagine how drilled and continues her dancing skills were and how mastered she is in performing a dance.
No disrespect to her at all because I love her and I hardcore loved this piece, but the thing that bugs me the most about most discussions on her dancing skills is when people start saying she is far above all other idols. Go take a look at solos or choreos from Kai, Taemin, Jimin or J-Hope and you will find that not only is she not on a level of her own but at least some of those are actually better. This does not take away from her skill which is great but people need to calm their biases down.

OH GOD!! someone said it *'she doesnt copy'* EXACTLY!!! she not doing a photocopy but she taking the choreos work and apply her own technique. At some moves it becomes strong and angsty with her natural swag, at some point it becomes tamed or sensual but it is HERS. Yk what i mean? I remember her saying it on YWY2 where lisa was a Dance mentor, she said she likes it when a dancer does not just try to do the dance steps on choreo but imprint his own techniques on it choreos themselves and make it his own (she said it to Yu Xin if im not mistaken). Like when you watch a two different person dance same steps or choreo, they are giving you two different attitude, feelings or vibe based on ther forte or personality whatever the genre is. I’ve always said this - Lisa dances the way you would play a piece of music, there’s highs and lows, staccato and legato. She understands the nuances of dance and that you can create more of an effect if your energy/execution varies throughout. It’s easier to dance with high energy throughout the song and lose control of moves. Lisa is very precise and restrained, she knows that if she holds back during one part of the choreography, that when she “goes hard” it’ll wow the audience. She is a performer through and through, she doesn’t get the praise she deserves.
Finally somebody put the right analogy that I struggle to come up with 🤣🤣. Like most kpop fans think throwing high energy from beginning to the end of performance is a good thing but actually it’s not!! Energy level has to come together with the music beats than only the performance look good. Lisa definitely understand this concept and nailed it!!!
I must say, Lisa's lowkey confidence in herself is really what makes her dancing so much more appealing to watch as well. She's having fun, she knows the choreo, she's practiced it and got it down to where it feels as natural as breathing and all she has to do for final product is vibe to the music and enjoy herself while also remaining in focus. Others think that dancers has great execution of the choreography are the best one, but no, great dancers knows how to make the viewers feel what the essence of the songs thru choreography, in Lisa’s case, she has both, great execution (details by details) plus add up feels to what the songs means. The reason why SBS deleted her Streetdance 2016 fancam, a four month rookie Lisa that time together with other idols because it outviewed the whole perf hahaha. What I like most about Lisa's dance style is that she makes it look so easy and effortless.
