Good approach to the logical editor! The next step for me would be to open some of these presets in the the logical editor itself and change them to my liking.
HI Gerhard. Thanks - the logical editor series proper will take that approach in some sections as a way to learn from the presets (which is often the quickest way to work out how to do something.)
Hi Aaron. Are you seeing the logical editor presets menu, but with nothing in it, or are you not seeing the menu at all? The presets are stored in your profile folder if you're on Windows and sometimes the info doesn't end up in there. A bit more info on your setup (Cubase version, Operating system) would be useful too.
OK, on Windows 7 you should see the files in the following folder: C:\Users\{your username}\AppData\Roaming\Steinberg\Cubase 9_64\Presets\Logical Edit You may need to set Explorer to show hidden files and folders to allow you to see the AppData folder inside your user folder. If there's nothing there, let me know and I'll send you a zip file with them in, and voila!
Hi, so I checked but there isn't anything in the Presets folder. If you can send a zip file to me, that would be great! aaronmclain11@gmail.com. Cheers!
I had this problem too. It's a known issue and you can find the solution in the Steinberg knowledge base. I think you have to delete a folder in which these presets are stored. If you restart your Cubase again this folder will be recreated and all your presets in the midi-effects will appear again.
I'm stumped w something and I've scoured the internet for a solution and haven't been successful. I would like to create a logical editor preset that selects the top voice in a chord progression (not just the highest single note). I can't for the life of me get the code right! ugh. Maybe you have some ideas? Would also be useful to select the lowest voice in a polyphonic midi arrangement as well. Logic had a cool feature for this that I'm missing in Cubase. Cheers mate!
Hi. When you say the top voice in a chord progression, do you mean the highest scale degree in a chord - i.e. the 7th in a minor 7th chord (for instance), such as a G in an Am7, even if it's inverted such as AGCE (bottom to top)?
musictechtuition I mean for an entire polyphonic line, so multiple chords, just top note. So for example a simple progression C, F, G7 root positions. Cubase would choose G, C and D notes
It is possible to do something like this, but it's a bit long-winded for a text response (seven lines for the 'simple' version which does 3 and 4 note chords). I'll do a video response to this (hopefully this week, but I have a lot on!), and let you know when it's done.

I can't seem to access these presets in my midi menu. Any tips?

Hello and thanks for getting back to me. Yes I see the presets menu but there isn't anything in it. I'm using Cubase Pro 9 and running Windows 7 Pro.

musictechtuition thank you so much! If you give me your email I can send you the code I had and see where I went wrong?
Thank you.
