I just hope that we get to see more of King Dice in the series. After he was replaced, it would be cool to see him trying to regain his title as the Devil's number one and get his attention. Just hope it doesn't take another 2 years for a second season.
I hear from somewhere that season 3 would be in worked on after the cuphead dlc so that means season 2 is coming before June 30th

I didn't even notice the design changes they had for the show but after seeing the comparison I prefer it so much more! Not saying how everything looks in the game is bad no not at all but the tweaks they did to the characters for the show are great. Cuphead and Mugman are designed to be a lot more expressive and I love the new colours on the Devil. King Dice also looks cooler too.
That's right the design of the characters in the show is great and way more likable than the characters in the game
But i gotta admit the devil sprite i find is much more intimidating than the show, hes more comedic and stuck up.
@@pompousprick8902 Yeah that's true. I find it works for both versions though. The Devil's supposed to be a bit more comedic in the show while in the game he looks more intimidating so that he looks like he poses a threat to the player
To be honest I prefer the game designs bc they’ve got more of that old cartoon vibe to them :D but you’re right, these desings are great!

My opinion regarding the Devil's show design is actually a lot different than most of them. I for one love the show design, first of all it's super cute, which I get why that would be troubling for a villain. But I like to think the cuteness adds to the humor, the big bad Devil having a cute red nose and skinny body scaring some cups. Plus, in all fairness, he does end up having some intimidation, even if it's not the same as the game. But at the same time, I think the show is it's whole other thing.

The scene where the Devil powered up to try and make Cuphead hot enough to take off the invisible sweater leading to an explosion was the first time I actually took the character seriously
@teresa fry No worries, haha!! With me being a huge fan of the Devil already, it was hard for me to take the poor guy seriously period because all I was thinking was- "Angry cat man..must pet.."
That's what's good about his design. He subverts your expectations so that when he needs to be intimidating, he can be.

I think what makes the devil less intimidating in the show is they altered his body shape. In the original his limbs are thicker compared to the hands and feet while the body is completely sleek, and his overall form was actually a lot more humanlike in appearance. He wasn't bulky, but I think he looked more substantial because of that and easier to see as a threat.
(Well that and the nose. Kinda hard to get past a shiny red nose)
In my opinion the design of the devil in the show is good but I wished the devil was scarier and more serious , that would lead to a lot of fight scenes and a better story ideas I guess

King Dice also has more charm in the series. Guess that's Wayne Brady's doing but you can see the small tweaks in the design
That's true , the voice actor of king dice is outstanding and great like it's new design , also the design of the characters in the show is way more cooler than the characters in the game

Honestly, I prefer both versions (both design and personality) for their own mediums. The designs and attitudes from the game perfectly fit the old-timey aesthetic, and while the show mimics that to a degree, it definitely doesn't hinge on it as much as the game does, so it can allow its characters to be a bit more flamboyant and expressive, which is also why so many (i.e., the Devil, King Dice, Elder Kettle) go through a bit of a personality shift. And I'm okay with that- after all, it would have been boring to see an almost exact recreation of the game we've all pretty much played

Actually, the reason for the gloves, is because it’s easier to see the hands.
Animators don’t really use this method anymore, it’s a trick from 1930’s black and white cartoons. Which cuphead is based on.

Now I gotta admit some of the character designs look great in the show, personally my only complaint with the show is on how they made the devil's design different, now I love his voice and personality, but the devil's design in the cuphead game was much better due to how he looked more fearsome and intimidating, which is fitting for him since he is THE DEVIL, just saying if his appearance looked more like one he had in the cuphead game, he would've been perfect, other then that though, the show is great

I believe it was changed for animation purposes his expression was too hard to read if he wasn't smirking so they made it easier to read the other emotions.

I would have to agree with you 100% here axel, seriously if he was more intimidating looking it would reflect his raw power that he wields of being the devil, and as a result would make him be taken more seriously by the audience when he gets serious, in a good way
The show wasn't bad its probably its own thing different from the game. We'll see how season 2 ends up being

@@RottenJerv Same. I think people expected waaaay too much for some reason, like some Arcane level show and I don’t understand why lol. I loved it, and all of the references to old cartoons I grew up with was a real treat. Made me feel like a silly youngster again.

I will say I loved everybody new style BESIDES the devil like I'm not saying he does not fit or look good in the show it's just that in the game he looked more....scarier and more intimidating as in the Cuphead show he looks more goofy but besides that everyone really fits their rubber hose style
Well , as you said , it's all about the rubber hose style , and don't forget the story of the cuphead show needed a goofy style devil and not to be always scary 😊
For me the devil hat a little touch with HIM from the Power Puff Girls but not that much would be maybe a bit too controversial but his acting in some episodes made me think of it and I loved if. I enjoyed the first season very much made me go back to the old glory cartoon days

Honestly I love King Dice’s new design, specifically his new clothes, but man does he lack his iconic makeup.
In the show they look like a nice mix between old 30’s flowy animation and modern day flash-like animation while in the game they are much more faithful to old cartoons. I like both.
I always question why they change the character designs in the first place but to be honest this feels more like polishing it up than anything
they did this to make them more rubber hose for the 2d animation and tbh the new characters design is not bad at all
they feel less in line with the old school aesthetic but it was probably important for marketability and to make use of the modern techniques that weren't used for the game
I like that the show is its own thing bc if it was the same as the games then it would be the same story we knew but animated instead of playing them

Imagine if the Netflix Cuphead show’s lore is actually before the events of the cuphead game, tho very unlikely, that would most likely be the only thing that can connect the show with the game lores

Not likely because Cup and Mugs meet Ms Chalice but she's stuck at the mausoleum in the game. There's also no soul contracts as we see in carnevil and none of the bosses are really implied to be in debt.
What lore lmao 99 percent of cuphead lore is fan made. Plus there are clear and present changes from what we see in the game present in the show so it’s pretty obvious Netflix is doing their own thing
don't you agree that the show is some times BEFORE the game?
1)they look younger in the show ((especially elder))
2)They never seems to meet before
3)no trace of the FAMOUS devil's casino
4) they seems way weaker than the characters of the game ((except the Devil, but it's obvious why ))
I feel like it's just set in a different universe. The Cuphead Show is aimed at younger demographic than the game itself, so it can't show gambling. That's likely the reason why the casino is completely gone and Cuphead owes the devil his soul after playing a random carnival game rather than betting on it.

Not possible since the cup bros meet ms chalice in the mausoleum for the first time in the game. Also no hint of soul contracts, the devil just takes souls from those that lose his game. I think it's an interesting idea though.

The show is so visually interesting. It reminds me a bit of Chowder and The Misadventures of Flapjack in a way.
Devil in the game: Evil Villain with a Casino who gets souls with contracts.
Devil in the series: Evil Idiot who steals Souls with a machine instead of contracts.

The animations feels closer to Spongebob than 30's cartoons or the Cuphead videogame.
I got no problem with the show, but it looks like it's trying to look like 1930s animation with cheap flash while the game straight up just looks like it came from the old times. Then again, the 30s cartoons were usually only about 4 minutes long on average while the new show is shooting for like 20 minutes or something

This show made me do happy, I'm glad other people appreciate it as much as I do, question,if you were to make your own Cuphead story(to explain how elder kettle got possessed,and how the demon bat appeared,etc.)how would you do it? A sequel to the game story or follow the show and make it combine Shaconda Cartoons?
That is a good question actually , if I wanna make my own cuphead story I would rather make it following the show not the game , cause in the show the devil had a really hard time to approach cuphead and get his soul , he couldn't even take it with the help of king dice himself , so the only way to get cuphead soul is to posses elder kettle and control him to get what he wants , but I will make it in a funny way with a solid story with a good beginning and a satisfying ending 😊
I really like the show so far, super disappointed in the fact dice and devil had such a bad relationship, they seemed to have a lot more of a closer bond in the game. I am extremely disappointed that dice lost his eyeshadow, why would they take away his yass-ness.
Edit: I also feel that the creator of casino cups did a better job making a nicer plot then the actual show, that’s a personal opinion tho

The cuphead show is not bad but the animations and the story is not the best , tbh I was alittle bit disappointed cause I thought I will watch animation that I can learn from and be amazed by it but that didn't happen , but in general it's not bad , I hope you enjoy it my friend 😊

I felt something has been changed, so after watching this comparison, I can say I'd rather stick to the game.
Not because of æsthetics (well, yeah that too), rather because it feels like they gave to the characters personalities that do not fit properly.
The dragon in the game feels more cheerful but in the animation he's like angry. That is one of the many characters felt like a drastic change.

To me, most of these characters look younger than the game counterparts.
I wish they were a wee bit more faithful to the game especially with the devil's colors but that's about it for me outside of Cup and Mug's eyebrows just looking off at times.

It's funny ppl seemed so sad about king dice just being in one ep (I was too tbh) but I feel I'm the only one sad at the fact that Cala maria didn't get any screentime yet I hope another season comes where we do see characters like her and others that didn't get the slight yet
My only irk about the show is that in my opinion, the finished product looks too detailed for the style of animation. Rubberhose animation has always been a favorite but because of how the simplicity of the look of everything is impactful itself. At a certain point of polishing the look and such, can take away from the charm of it all sometimes.
I'd like to see just one episode, one short even be made exactly just the way it would have been made in its time period.
While 90% of the characters isn't the same it's still amazing how much they development them into the show that was great!

Not trying to start anything but the games graphics look a lot more like an old cartoon
well of course they do, they used old hand drawn techniques to make it and it took forever as a result. The show uses new techniques but keeps the older style.

The show did a fantastic job on some of the redesigns though I still love the originals too! This was a great transition from one to another that compliment each other! ❤The Devil with a Red nose and pupil are a great touch!

It thankfully doesn't take away from the experience and the characters are still very recognizable so I can't really complain too much.

I feel like the Cuphead show would’ve been a nice little treat for original Cuphead players and fans … if it wasn’t rated for children. The Cuphead show ended up being the top 10 cartoons for children/toddlers on Netflix ratings which ended being pretty sad in my opinion. Yes, we would gain more Cuphead fan members but the show doesn’t really help when kids tell you that Cuphead was a show and turned into the game. I’m still going to be watching the 2nd season though :,)

The little ball thing is in one of the sweater episodes where the Carney is and in the last episode the gumball machine is the gumball machine from Cup head.

Going for a 100% faithful animation style will take a lot more effort to create, studio MDHR developed cuphead for years, animation contributed significantly to the process.
So honestly, even if they did not exactly nail the animation style, at least we didn't wait for too long for a season.
