Since Ana’s only been getting worse, this felt like it could have come out yesterday. I hope Ana and Cenk take a step back from the presenter’s desk at TYT, and allow the younger, more progressive journalists they’ve hired carry the network, cause at this point, with how many marginalized people are abandoning ship, the worsening behavior they’ve been exhibiting is literally holding their platform back from being the, “home of progressives,” they claim it to be.
Emma, I've watched you since you co-hosted TYT college with John I. You were my favorite person on TYT. I always thought you don't fit in with TYT and I'm so glad you came to The Majority Report. I always appreciate your wisdom+empathy and you're amazing.

It’s not only about trans people. It’s about cis people too. I’ve spoken to many women who hate the non inclusive language because they themselves can’t have babies but are still women, yet not included in generalizations.
you're not arguing against inclusive language though, you're just saying that maybe the current attempts at inclusive language could use some work. which is totally fair. this feels like a baby/bathwater situation.
@@piggsquigg983 there’s still many many situations the word women still needs used. When talking about situations that pertain to pay disparities all women are included in that ESPECIALLY trans women.. when taking about black struggle, trans people not only have to deal with that, but also being ostracized by the black community for being trans. The world is shhtting on less than 1% of the population right now for no other reason than politicians are doing nothing for the majority and using trans people as a scapegoat.

Trans issues was the last hurdle for me to get over to have true solidarity with all marginalized groups. After that, it was easy to emphasize with any and everyone, including the people who would want harm to me, a straight cis black man.
@seanericson907 I listened to trans people and realized if I want people to stand with me, I must stand with them. Edit: This is the cliffsnote version that started years ago. I was never bigoted towards trans people, but they were foreign to me.
@@osonhouston Thanks for sharing. I'm just tired of this topic being the issue of bifurcation in the culture war debate because it's all about such a small segment of the population. Tiresome.
@seanericson907 the right likes to chip at the edges and fringes of "acceptable society" For many years trans individuals were overshadowed by gays, minorities, and immigrants. Trans individuals are finally gaining acceptance, and conservatives have realized how out of touch they are. Conservatives will do what conservatives do double down on hatred and attack everything.
Emma I'm so sorry you had to get pulled into this. Cenk and Ana are way out of line on this. You delivered the gentlest and most respectful statement possible when all this blew up. They decided to double and triple down on their wrong headed views and then crossed another line when they started criticizing everyone who disagreed with them. This has been a real eye opener for me in terms of TYT's core values vs their sense of entitlement.
@@NStarks007 wait, are you saying Emma attacked TYT? Or vice versa? Because Emma's initial statement, which she only made when pressured for comment, was extremely reserved. She really tried hard not to get sucked into the maelstrom and she doesn't deserve the crap coming at her over a former employer's bad takes.
TYT blowing up and making dumb comments again? Who would have guessed. Dropped them a while ago, several years at this time, due to their failure to be professional. They’re falling into more corporate media wallets than open minded liberal ideas. I fully expect TYT to be against LGBT+ rights any month now the way they act… stupidity. Stupid is, stupid does.
The ironic thing is on the show yesterday, Cenk was criticizing people who say things like, "I'm tired of explaining things" when it comes to how to be a good trans ally. (Or something like that.) Then, when their colleagues do explain things in a very calm and thoughtful manner, they react with anger. I mean, who are they, Jimmy Dore?
TYT definitely caters to emotion at times rather then sticking with logic or reason. Both Cenk and Ana can get emotional and have outbursts when they communicate which is why I barely watch TYT at all.
It means so much that the Majority Report, especially Emma, have been so steadfast in advocating for trans people. It can feel like we have so few allies, and even fewer allies who honestly consider our perspectives. Regardless of whether or not it's right, it's *hard* to stand up for marginalized people at times. It means a lot, thank you.
@@masterchief9291 That sounds more like narrative than truth to be honest. Thank you Emma. TYT is a ground breaking media platform and we are fortunate to have them, but it is unfortunate Cenk from time to, let’s face it, has maturity issues. The fact that he is a former employer of your and friend must make this situation more difficult than Ana’s original tweet, so I do commend your maturity on this issue and integrity to the profession.

Cenk is a Gen X. I'm Gen X. We're not all there. We're better than boomers and the silent generation but not as progressive as millennials. And millennials aren't as progressive as Zoomers. Beau of the 5th Column said something solid today. He talked about every generation moves the needle more and more to the left. When I was born it just became legal to drink from the same water fountain as white folk. Back then I was considered a "radical leftist". Now my takes are considered to be pretty centrist. When this generation of Zoomers is older and approaching retirement they will be considered conservative. It's not that people, individually evolve in their positions. It's because society evolves.
@@fwdcnorac8574 as a fellow gen. Xer, I definitely get what your saying, and, yes, Cenk fits the mold quite well. His consistent spotlight on this issue has enlighted a groundswell of Americans that one day will produce results. Cenk’s inability though to control his angry towards too many allies is not a Gen X. thing. It is a maturity issue bordering on mental illness and most certainly corrosive to the progressive agenda.

Bullshit. The problem is she is dead wrong 😂 You see, the difference between the civil rights movement and the push for the use of a specific language is that the CRM was about a certain group of people having the same rights as others *without taking from the rights of those others*. Same thing about gay marriage. But this push for "muh inclusive language" is an _imposition on others_ so that other groups can _gain more_ . Second, I think I had an aneurysm when I heard Emma trying to put down "free thinking" as something right wing, as if the ability to critically evaluate information is something negative. To Emma, we should be deaf, dumb and blind drones, accepting anything being served to us 😅 What a fucking joke. The faster she leaves, the better.
I just think most of these other commentators are grifters at this point. Rising, breaking points, BJG, (and now seemingly TYT) are growing more estranged from actual progressivism by the day. It shouldn't be too much of a stretch for people to realize that when their profit is determined on the basis of viewership, these people will say and pander to as many people as possible as it pertains to the online community, even if that means perpetuating nonsense you wouldnt otherwise agree with.
As a transwoman and a newer viewer of TMR, thank you so much Emma. I really appreciate your voice in this conversation and I value all of your ally ship. Sending so much love
I think the point of this spat is, you can't say trans woman, you should say trans person with a uterus. So while taking Emma's side you're proving that you're not 😊 Call people what they want to be called. The minority can decide for themselves what they want to be called without affecting what the majority is called.

Is it? Should we refer to women as "person with a uterus" and abandon the term woman? That's what the argument is about. Doesn't seem wise or beautiful to me.
@@StormcastMarine It's not what the argument is about. "Person with a uterus" describes several groups of people who share one trait. Some girls, some women, some trans men, some non-binaries. On a personal note, I am sorry you are caught in this and have been hurt in all this.
I’ll call my trans comrades whatever term makes them comfortable and how they want to be identified. At the same time, if a biological woman wants to be called a woman, I’ll call her a woman. In casual conversation, I’m not calling my wife of 25 years a birther person.

I have alot of respect that you are able to do what you are doing. I personally could never deal with all the online hate.
What I love about the entire TMR team is that they're the most principled in the entire UA-cam political commentary sphere. I haven't come across a single clip so far where they work backwards from a conclusion to make sure their approach fits a certain narrative. They always seem to first apply their judgment to whatever has happened and that is based on their values. And then they comment. (It's basically the opposite of what many on the right are doing... if they want to establish George Soros = bad, they'll work backwards from that and say ridiculous things like he's in bed with Nazis... or if Candace Owens wants to tell you that racism doesn't exist, she's going to dream up reasons why people of color should feel happy for the white folks that "stopped slavery" - conveniently leaving out the fact that some of those same people started the whole shebang...)
I think TYT’s stances are often started with the conclusion they want to reach and they work backwards. Worse yet, their point is almost always “…and that’s why you can’t trust the mainstream media.” which gets boring as hell.
That's why I can't watch tyt even though I'm a leftist/socialist.... they're on the right side but use the wrong methods that make us all look bad.... I always used to say they're the fox News of the left lol

Yes, 100%. However, that doesn't mean that every utterance from trans activists needs to be taken as a holy writ. Expecting people to embrace transgenderism after a lifetime of conditioning on a dime lest they be denounced as bigots does help the right.

I can see where Ana is coming from... feminists have been trying to fight reductive language targeted toward women for quite some time... and, so, when the phrase 'birthing people' comes along without a healthy discussion of its merits, I can understand why Ana would respond the way she did. Without additional context, it does sound like a term which could be used reductively to commodify the female body. Do I agree with her reaction? No... but I do understand it.
Emma, continue to wear your heart on your sleeve. It is not weakness, rather it is honesty and vulnerability that make you one of the most credible people to watch. I think you have the 100% correct take on this, but also I think that the way you are handling this makes you a class act. Keep up the good work. Much love to all of you MR crew. ❤
what a lot of people don’t quite understand about this in particular is that clumsy language is actually detrimental to communication in health care systems. Every locality has its own prerogative to their own demographic to communicate their information using the local language. For example, I work for a non profit health care system that serves a large Latino community in Chicago. We had meetings specifically about the term LatinX. Young progressive groups had a problem with us not employing the term, but the demographics of the neighborhood are older and the term has been found to alienate older Latino people. Statistically, very few people actually employ the term, so it did not make sense for our health clinic to employ the term in advertisements or other banners we created during covid to persuade people in the neighborhood to get vaccinated. It’s all very much contextual. In some contexts it makes sense to use “birthing persons” but if you’re trying to integrate your information to, say, a predominantly older community of immigrants, it’s just not the most effective way of reaching the most people who have not had contact with health care systems.
Thanks! The language can also be confusing for people that speak English as a 2nd or 3rd language. There was an issue where I am caused by this where people ended up putting down wrong data.
I closed one and wanted the other gone too, but lost the PW. Decided to get banned and realized, it's literally impossible, as there's no staff, and the bots just do 7 day bans. I suspect you'd have to break a law, CP etc, to actually get banned on Elon's trash twitter
Cenk and Ana have done great work with TYT it deserves great respect. I find Cenk & Ana's handling of this disappointing. Their work requires exposing themselves to RW nonsense - which risks erroneously accepting propaganda talking points, In their roles it can be too easy to get a little red-pilled. Name calling is an ineffective communication strategy. Critics are calling for them to be better allies. I just wish they were better listeners.
Calling people "birthing person" is just weird, I'm sorry but it is. I am left, progressive, and support trans people being treated equally but this is pathetic. Maybe Cenk was a jerk about it on Twitter (I left about 5 years ago so dont know) but if he was arguing that calling people "birthers" should be shelved then I agree with him.
Well, depends on the context. When it's about pregnancy, then having a general term for people who have the capacity to give birth is quite useful, so in that context I don't see how "birthing person" would be weird, because for example it includes trans men with uteri and excludes women who were born without uteri. I don't think the term itself is problematic, it's the context that makes it bad. For example, when Ana and Cenk talk about the term "birthing person" being a replacement for "woman", then that's obviously an extremely bad use of the term because those groups are not identical to each other. I understand why Cenk and others treat the term like it's just literally _another word_ for woman. It's not and it shouldn't be used like that. Cenk should stop using that word like that.
@@romanski5811 I dont disagree and I think Cenk and Ana's issue is that they think its being used in everyday conversation by trans people. I hate it when people treat discrimination differently; like racism isn’t given the same “it’s an opinion we disagree on” energy that we do with the trans community and that disturbs me. It’s like there’s different levels of tolerance for discrimination.
That's because most of what Trans people think is discrimination isn't really discrimination. Telling trans they have to play sports with their birth gender isn't discrimination. Telling trans they have to be adults before medical interventions isn't discrimination.

You guys /gals should address the concept of inclusive language as it relates to the replacement of language that others prefer in reference to themselves. It would not be inclusive to tell Anna she can’t be referenced using the label woman which she feels more comfortable with.

I'm increasing realizing that Anna Kasparian is self absorbed. She's been slowly but surely pushing stories about the rights of minorities aside. She's been trying to appeal more and more to the right. She tends to cover stories that are somehow how personally related to her. When she gets criticized, she complain about viewers trying to audience capture her. Cenk tries but he is too scared to be honest with her. Cenk's claim about defunding the police being unpopular is only true when it's phrased that way. If you actually drill down and talk about reallocation of assets from police to things like mental health counselors and social workers to deal with what cops are incapable of it becomes overwhelmingly popular. The wording "defund the police" is unpopular, the policy absolutely isn't. TYT is doing a lot of shutting down discussions these days.

I love majority report, but I really deviate on trans issues. I respect all people's pronouns, and will never dead name. But truth is I will never believe a man that transitions to woman or vice versa is a biological woman/man. I also think the term "birthing person" is just ridiculous. Well said Emma. Although I do not think Emma is responsible for another's comments, I do think that who made the comment is far less important than the comment itself and it should be treated the same way as if someone who is not a friend made it.

For many years trans individuals were overshadowed by gays, minorities, and immigrants.

You're right, TYT is EXACTLY like Jimmy Dore. There's no difference between them both they're EXACTLY the same because of what Ana said. Ok...
TYT definitely caters to emotion at times rather then sticking with logic or reason. Both Cenk and Ana can get emotional and have outbursts when they communicate which is why I barely watch TYT at all.

Cenk is a Gen X. I'm Gen X. We're not all there. We're better than boomers and the silent generation but not as progressive as millennials. And millennials aren't as progressive as Zoomers.

They always seem to first apply their judgment to whatever has happened and that is based on their values. And then they comment.

Thank you for keeping it real Emma. I re watched this because in retrospect TYTs been real cringe.
what a lot of people don’t quite understand about this in particular is that clumsy language is actually detrimental to communication in health care systems.
Probably the best summary I've seen on this topic
Thanks! The language can also be confusing for people that speak English as a 2nd or 3rd language. There was an issue where I am caused by this where people ended up putting down wrong data.

Thank you Emma. Thank you everyone at the Majority Report.

@@ポールの赤テレ I believe there are also similarities between opposite extreme views. The best opposition to the far right is a moderate left who will draw together many independents as well. That is why Biden won.
@@lucianbirlan5726 Packman's alright but he's promoted crypto/blockchain bullshit at least once before so I'm kinda skeptical of his sponsors, but his reporting's usually solid
@@TreFree-n7o that is discrimination when the you can see visually and by the data that trans women don’t carry an inherit advantage and you still proceed to discriminate, your ignorance is not a pass for your ignorance and I would rather you say “look I don’t care what the evidence says I openly support discriminating against the trans community on sports related issues” rather than try to play both sides like a coward. Be honest with yourself and your intentions before you decide to comment.
@@TreFree-n7o btw there’s no “what someone finds as discrimination” it’s either discrimination or it’s not and in this case it actually is, you’re a bigot, buddy.
@@Charlie_Loves Trans women definitely do have an advantage though. Personally I don't have a beef with trans, even though I made out with a trans woman who didn't tell me before hand. Why is that ok to do to someone?
@@TreFree-n7o they don’t, you just believe they do.
I unsubscribed from TYT. They're too reactionary
Emma is Awesome!!!!
I don’t exactly know the story behind this all and I want to respect Emma‘s wishes so I won’t attempt to comment about that… I will say that of all the channels, I’ve been gravitating more towards Emma and Sam and I absolutely appreciate not only their commentary but their delivery! Looking forward to the next report!
You guys /gals should address the concept of inclusive language as it relates to the replacement of language that others prefer in reference to themselves. In this case, Anna wasn’t advocating for trans men to not be referred to as birthing persons. Anna feels confortable for people to refer to her as a woman. It would not be inclusive to tell Anna she can’t be referenced using the label woman which she feels more comfortable with.
She called the whole *concept* shit though. That's why it's an issue.
Emma, I understand that they're your friends and your feelings are likely hurt in addition to you being uncomfortable, but please stop putting your head down (literally). You did the right thing in a very difficult situation. Say you don't want to talk ab it anymore if you want, but please say it with your head up. You should feel proud of yourself. We're all proud of and grateful to you.
💯
It's just like how atrocious Ana and Cenk responded to how black people and others who were upset that Beyonce did not win Album of the year again. It was so disappointing and disgusting how they acted and what was said. I was more hurt than disgusted. They basically said, "we not fixing the justice system, but here's Juneteenth." "Or shut up and dribble." They work with black people, and to show their privilege, they didn't care enough to ask them why people were upset. I was like, do these two know anything about black history & the music industry? How are you going to "fight" for others when you continuously make them feel separated and less than. Smh
Emma did precisely what a good ally does, and Cenk/Ana demonstrated how closed-minded their thinking has become in regards to being receptive to criticism. It's certainly one of the reasons I stopped watching TYT as their politics continuously drifted Right ward.
I'm glad I left TYT behind.
Same
I wasn't surprised by Cenk's views. He's been telegraphing this all along. You did the right thing Emma.
As a European Emma's Norwegian and Finnish background is showing in her caring for the most vulnerable in society. Crying is not weakness. My grandfather who fought the Nazis and saw many friends killed told me crying was a safety value. If you don't cry you go nuts. I was always told if you are not racist a black person calling out white racist doesn't offended you because it isn't aim at you. Meanwhile racist get offended being called out. Gay, Transgender Non binary people etc make the world a more wonderful and fabulous place. Racists , Terfs and those offended by Gay, Transgender and Non Binary not so much. Transgender rights are human rights.
Just call them neo Nazis...🙄
Thank you Emma for speaking your peace
The most bizarre thing to me is Ana complaining about being called a Birthing Person when she’s not even in that category, and unless she’s changed her views on having children, she never will be.
So well explained as always Emma thank you for all the work you've done throughout the years 👏 🙏Ive always enjoyed your perspective and the way you explain things it helps me a lot to better understand some topics
Majority focused politics doesn't work when it comes to civil rights.
I feel bad because you can tell Ana is willing to torch TYT if Cenk pushes too hard. That man gave up alot, including $1 million a year lucrative salary to stick to his principles and build TYT. That's why I still watch TYT and financially support them when I can. Cenk has given up too much for people to give up on TYT because of Ana.
Great job by Brad too - really explained things well
Except for what they're talking about.
@@blairhaffly1777 Yeah he was very tactful but I'm also very out of the loop
I am transgender and I grew up really poor. I’m also still really poor. I just wanted to say I think your the sweetest person in the world not many people have the courage to say that and then say they’re also an ally I don’t know I went to college and studied with a bunch of hipsters. I just thought you were really nice today so I wanted to tell you good job, and as for TYT he has been getting a little extra lately him and Emma have been fighting a lot lately on the show. For similar reasons.
emma, your takes have been so kind. wish people could approach issues as reasonably, and good faith, as you.
This woman is anything but kind. you’re so delusional and are naive to narcissistic pedophiles using your community for their own personal gain
The phrase birthing person is completely absurd. I mean come on, what are we doing here?
Emma getting emotional is great. Empathy is what separates us from the animals and Conservatives
You're a good person, Emma! People like you and Sam are the reason I've been listening to/watching MR since the Air America days. Keep speaking truth to power. We're with you!
Emma Vigeland is what is wrong today
Why are we denying a woman’s wish to identify as she wishes to be identified?
BOOOM. mark casually droping nukes
No one's doing that. We're pointing out that an inclusive phrase only used in appropriate medical settings is a silly thing to complain about.
About "we are not PR for leftists and we do not have to comment on it" - you are a political commentators so you should.
And you do. That's why it is so nice to watch you guys because you don't look for clout you just stand strong when you are correct and move for better positions if you are not.
Thanks for that
I love majority report, but I really deviate on trans issues. I respect all people's pronouns, and will never dead name. But truth is I will never believe a man that transitions to woman or vice versa is a biological woman/man. I also think the term "birthing person" is just ridiculous. I can respect trans persons right to live as they choose, but it's ridiculous someone calls me transphobic because I don't believe they're actual the gender they choose.
Literally no trans man thinks they're a biological man. No trans woman thinks they're a biological woman.
If this is your take away you need to pay better attention.
The thought that you might feel weak for having emotions pisses me off. I'm fed up with this world.

FRIENDLY REMINDER:
When Alabama Man types lies flow forth. Don't feed him as he's literally using bots to spread lies so that he can get attention. Report all of his posts and move on. The sheer fact that he's had to dust off accounts that he hasn't used in 6+ months proves that reporting does work.
How does one know if it is one of his sock accounts and not a different troll?
@@ryanamendt8363 Pretty much all of the troll accounts in the comments here are him. Always report trolls either way.
@@ryanamendt8363 1. Vast majority of the time he uses the exact same cut n' pasted statements across multiple accounts. 2. birthing person is a completely ridiculous term, sorry
Yeah, I’ve never been a fan of TYT personally but respect their place and initially was fine and understood your original video and agreed even if as a trans person who was biased at the start, I was pretty questioning of TYT and Anna.
Sorry to see how it’s blown up and mostly what it’s come down to is TYT getting super defensive and blowing up the issue in a way that Leftist Mafia originally hadn’t at all taken it.
Appreciate you doing this, honestly I’d somewhat expected you guys to keep your heads down and not comment on this (which I wouldn’t have really blamed you all for; also thought that before realize you and Cenk got into it on Twitter), so appreciate this even if it’s presumably very difficult and I can certainly appreciate that.
this must be really difficult for you Emma but you are on the right side of this. Big kudos and much love for doing what you do ❤

I haven't watched The Majority Report on a regular, but this is the first time I have seen Emma being uncomfortable. I always seen her as confident and very sure of herself.
I had no idea that this was happening until I saw a couple of progressive UA-camrs talking about it today.
This is so sad, they are just feeding into Right Wing talking points.
I'm more supportive of Emma now - She's so right about popularism .
Well said Emma. Although I do not think Emma is responsible for another's comments, I do think that who made the comment is far less important than the comment itself and it should be treated the same way as if someone who is not a friend made it. It is the issues the comment raises, not the commentator, that should be addressed. If you are friends then you can reach out privately to talk about it, but if it is your job to cover these issues, your friends should respect that. It would be hypocritical not to cover it because a friend said it.
Emma expresses less ego in her expositions, and I do appreciate that. I think being younger here gives us all a kind of candid understanding of milleninal sensibility; me turning 80 soon. There is so much coming out of TYT in general that I appreciate from all of you , and choices of nuance are really helpful in putting news items and opinions up for understanding.
Thank you for sharing your thoughts. I appreciate seeing wise people still sharing their knowledge and opinions with the younger generations.
