IMO, if he takes any car on this vs that it should be the Rally Miata. The Volvo wagon is gonna be sick but the Rally Miata is truly one of kind, people have done “sleeper” builds before.
I'm extremely excited to see this build being done. I really can't wait to see the next video. This car is going to be a screamer down the track. I really hope that you take it to a quarter mile drag strip to see how fast it will go. I really think that you should put a rollcage in it too. At least a 6 or 8 point cage and you should definitely do sub frame connectors to make it stronger so that you don't twist the car in half.
Hey @Gingium make sure you remove the brake pressure warning switch from the distribution block and cap that bung with a plug! The threads are M12x1.0, you'll also need a copper gasket to act as a washer. The rubber o ring on the sensor likes to spontaneously pop out of place, and all of your brake fluid will leak out within minutes. This is exacerbated by hard braking, which you'll be doing with all that power. Same thing happened on my '85 244, stay safe, and happy building!
It’s really amazing how far a person can go if he really wants it and loves what he’s doing I was watching your old miata videos earlier today and now seeing how far the shop has come is just amazing
I really love and want to tickel my balls with rabbit fur wonder how far I can take it. Played out nothing original about it. LS swap everything and anything was over a long time ago BORING!!!!!!!!!
Would like to see the Volvo cleaned up. Keep it the same color, but give it one of those immaculate paintjobs, sanded, buffed to mirror finish. Crystal clear windows new windshield, new lights. :)
So happy to see it back. This series is really inspiring and makes me want to jump in on my own projects. One tip - you can usually disassemble connectors and swap pins to different spots, just one less connection that can ever have issues, and comes together cleaner and quicker. Lots of depinning tools on amazon to release the tabs and let you swap pins.
I honestly feel like This Channel doesn’t get as much Recognition that it deserves. I can’t think of another car UA-camr that is as satisfying to watch working on or building a car.
Ging, take my advice. You have lovely machine equipment. Your next project should be comparably easy. Find a Trackmaster frame or a Honda 175 or 350. Make a cool cafe racer. I’ve built both. They’re so much fun. And I’ve got the name of an engine builder who will NEVER let you down when it comes to bikes.
looks sick! I think you should make the sleeper wagon a clean wagon instead. the underside and under the hood came out so nice makes me want to see it all nicely done! great job 👏!!!
I’m glad to see the Volvo back, missed that car!! For future builds when cleaning/degreasing parts, try out Meguiars D143 Non-Acid Wheel & Tire cleaner. It’s cheaper than the Gunk since you can get it in a gallon, 5 gal or 55 gal. It’s dillutable and works really good to strip all sorts of build up off engine, chassis and driveline components. Plus it clears wheels and tires really well!
This thing is/and is going to be amazing. With all that sweet sweet noises is it actually going to be a sleeper though. Also great video and it’s nice to see you upload more often lately Keep up the good work👍🏼👍🏼
Don’t overthink the powder coating, I have a Eastwood powder coater, and I get better quality doing it myself then when I took my stuff to a “professional”. Took half a day before it was a breeze.
You gotta do a ChrisFix headlight clean on that thing and make them look brand new, but I guess it is meant to be a sleeper so the cloudy headlights help achieve that effect. I still think it'd look better and still look like a sleeper with clear headlights, though.
Just something that came to mind, you should look into getting a sand blaster thingy to clean those surface rusty parts off! Maybe unneccessary but would be cool imo
Jus to let you know ....if you pull off thoes volvo badges off of the fenders...there is a hole cut where you can install volvo v70(p80 chassis) side markers ...looks kinda Kool did it to mine...good job of the volvo man
Excuseeeeewe me??? A Volvo whiteblock inline 5 is one of the top 5 best sounding engines of all time... Whatchu mean Volvo shouldn't sound this good?? Lol... You got 2jz, rb25, vr6, V10, and inline 5 (Volvo, Audi) imo anyway.... I have an LS swapped 1990 240 dl sedan. With 1 5/8 longtube headers, a 3" catless x pipe, and black widow muffler with 3" axle back all ss.. Sounds awesome!! Can't wait to turbo mine!! Have the fwd i5 billet turbo on methanol runs low 12s on stock internals. And my LS 240 with tbss intake, 92mm tb, summit 8707 cam, pac 1219 springs, and btr pushrods and trunnion.. Which altho made 40whp more then my S70 is still a bit slower with a low 13 in low 100-104 trap speed. But the 240 has the ford 8.8 with spool, and an RS5R30A manual trans so still fun as hell. Awesome job man love watching your videos, your as professional as they come.. Ps: I have the top loader conversion on my trans so no linkage or cables shifts amazing...
The thing that impresses me the most is figuring out all the small intricate things that prevent things from working right. How do you diagnose all of that?
I’d hope you move to a air to air intercooler and no water-meth. It’s more practical, reliable, and simple. You can just get in the car and go, not worried about water-meth or water for the intercooler.
Is the Volvo keeping the sleeper exhaust? Because a 1000hp sleeper wagon that is quiet until you go over half throttle and can blaze down the 1/4 mile sounds amazing :D
@@_Gingium_ Well, the Volvo was 100% epic before, the upgrades were already going to make it 110% epic, now its going to be even more epic! I always love sleeper cars, they just sound so nice and mild mannered and suddenly they accelerate so fast with a loud roar and the other guy is left in the dust by the dragster in luxury disguise :P
A lead acid battery at 12,2 volt is empty. (in reality it's at 50%, but if you discharge lower, you damage it permanently). A fully charge is actually at 12,9 or 13 volts.
Plasma table was such a great investment. I love watching you fabricate stuff in a flash. It really adds that professional touch to your builds.
Easily the single biggest upgrade in efficiency and quality for my fabrication! I love it too!
I was so confused as to what that was. I was like, "A water jet table that produces sparks?!"

I love the orange block and how simple and clean the build is. Extra credit with the gold heat tape. Looks amazing. Sounds amazing.
That sounds phenomenal, amazing build super invested in this build. You are doing an awesome job with this thing, can't wait for a full rip.
Thank you!

Working on it currently and it’s turning out great!

@@ajc8595 it's almost like I could of made a joke about the choppy idle and rpm signal being lost making it sound like a rotary......
the bay looks so much cleaner this time man, looks badass.
Ok that first 20 seconds was INSANE. The drill bit into the belt sander grooved so hard.
Yeah, that editing was like too good for a random car video
Been watching you since your forza days, love to see how far you have come!

I've missed this channel so much. You've done so much since I last watched. I'll be binging when I have time so I can catch up.
The engine bay really does look great! I have a Centerforce clutch for my WRX, just haven't put it in yet. Exciting to hear this thing live again.

With all the plasma cutting you should start designing your parts with a tab and slot. That way you can weld without bolting it to the car.

All of you guys that use hard mounts to put engines in are nuts. That has to vibrate like crazy.
There are bushing in these mounts! Both on the engine and trans side. This is more the entire car shaking than small vibrations.
Like the subtle nod to Taylor Ray with one of his videos, haha.
Can’t wait to see this thing at the drag strip!
Piece of art!
A trick with twin turbod C5 corvette was to get NASCAR wires extra long make your own wire and hide them inside the inner fender
