    Just wanted to say that today I got the nerve up to try turning my ankles in (I have Chaya skates with an asymmetrical slide block) and just like that, I was sliding whether I wanted to or not. It really does feel more stable y'all. I'm still having to tap the wall until I get use to it, but I'll be sliding in a matter of days rather than months thanks to this review. Even though I don't have Bonts, your lessons are awesome.

      Thank you! Yes Chaya blocks are designed to angle your feet to slide.

    Hi Shorty, nice job, the shape of the block looks really good but why using BTR screws instead of more traditional flat head screws? With the BTR we can't use them with Sunlite, Reactor plates and more cause there's no gap like the Tracer.. .

    • @ShortysSkateSeries
      @ShortysSkateSeries  2 роки тому +1

      They were made for the Tracer/ Prodigy plate so weren't thinking that they would be compatible with all plates. But that's good to know for future versions if we want to make them more compatible. But I have had personal issues with flat head screws break off on previous blocks 😅

    Hi shorty, I'm loving the new bont slide blocks, but have been having problems with the blocks moving back on the trucks. Can you tell me if you've had this problem and if so how did you fix this issue.

    • @ShortysSkateSeries

      Hmm. It might move a little if I'm going a lot of jumping into sliding tricks but I have my kingpin nuts quite tight so they don't usually move. Can you send me a photo or video on my IG @shortstop.6 or email shortstop.crdl@gmail.com and I can have a look

    Hi Shorty! I just installed these blocks onto my Parkstars and even with removing the spacer it seems like the block is really low to the ground. I do have 57 mm wheels on the skate. Does this make a difference as to how close the block is to the ground? Or is it normal for the block to be close to the ground? Thanks for your help!

      Sorry for the delay I thought I had replied to this. How low are yours? Mine are pretty low and I’m wearing small wheels to. Which trucks are you using?

    Grateful for this. I'ma get my first quad skates soon and was curious as to whether the skate brand i planned to get did blocks well too, since they'll naturally fit better than something I'm just stuck with, and from what you explained - this was designed intelligently!

      Yes we just released them, but they are sold out online at bont.com but if you are based in the US I know Five Stride and a couple other shops have them in stock.

      I'm not 100% sure. I think Bont was working on a compatibly chart, but I don't know where it's at. If you have the tools you could bend the bar, but it's quite think.

    Hello Shorty, nice to see the Bont slide Block available.
    I have seen many videos (from differents shops ans users) how to mount a block on a plate and you do all the same, exepted a guy and his argument is not bad (I am a technician and I asking myself why not put the blocks more nearest the kingpin base to give it less constraints).
    Can you look his vidéo, read in his response in the commentaries why he his doing that and give me your feedback please.
    His vidéo from You Tube :
    "Setting up the new Roces Pro 4 agressive skate quad skate"
    his response to a commentary :
    "The grindplates (frame as you called them) are mounted in a place where they will put too much force on the bolts, making the bolts break easily. The plate being fixed under the locknut makes the whole thing much stronger all together! I bought some orangatang bushings as the original ones were a bit too hard, also adding to the kingpin issue for me."

    • @ShortysSkateSeries
      @ShortysSkateSeries  2 роки тому +2

      I think it depends on the plate design if the block can be placed above or below the kingpin lock nut. For the Bont Block Bont recommends removing the kingpin spacers (for the Tracer and Prodigy) when assembling it as the spacers don't do anything.
      I'm not sure what bolts he is referring too?

    • @pascal2111
      @pascal2111 2 роки тому

      Ok, thanks to help me clarify that point.
      I think he use the term "bolt" to speak about the kingpin but I m not sure at 100 %.

    Do you think that sliding on the insides of blocks in general is more stable? I have asymmetrical slide blocks and turning my ankles in feels less stable. But maybe I just need to get used to the angle.

    • @ShortysSkateSeries
      @ShortysSkateSeries  2 роки тому +1

      It depends on the block edge design. A lot of block aren’t really suitable for sliding on the edges. But if you have a block that can do it, it can me more stable as you have a wider base. I sometimes find if I’m skating about shoulder width and have my weight too much on one leg it can slip out under me

  • @jfs11911
    @jfs11911 2 роки тому

    Did switching from a whole solid block to a two-piece block freak you out or scare you? Did you notice any differences when you intially jump on to coping or ledges? I love the edges on these blockes but the empty space in the middle freaks me out I feel I'll hit a ledge wrong and it will fall in between the blocks somehow lol

    • @ShortysSkateSeries
      @ShortysSkateSeries  2 роки тому

      No I don't have any issue with it. It's not wide enough to be an issue with coping. But for ledges, it's been so long since I used a solid block so I can't comment. If you skate with grind trucks the I assume the truck would hit the coping of ledge before the block anyway.

    Love all your videos, Shorty! How much does the block weigh? Does it weigh a noticeable amount more than, say, a discoblox block? I'm looking to get a block and am deciding between discoblox and the bont

      The Bont block would be heavier but I'm not sure by how much. I like the Bont Block because I can slide on the edges and feel stable

      These Bont blocks are designed to fit a 20 deg plate. You may be able to bend the bar to fit other plate. But for sizing, you will need to measure the distance in between the kingpins and check out the size chart on the product page. bont.com/products/bont-slide-blocks

  • @farbkoma

    Nice video! I bought Parkstars a while ago and put my CIB slide blocks onto them. But I‘m not happy with that combination. I think I‘ll give these blocks a try.
    On the website there‘s no size chart. I have a Tracer plate 6.5“ … do I need to buy size 6.5 then?
    Sorry if this is a totally dumb question ^^

    • @ShortysSkateSeries
      @ShortysSkateSeries  2 роки тому

      There should be a size chart but it's in the dropdown tabs at the bottom of the product page, sometime it's not easy to find. But to answer your question, yes Tracer 6.5 will need a Bont block 6.5

      The Parkstar boot has a fiberglass base so I think it's the lightest boot on the market. It's just when you add the plate (I have mine oversized too), wheels, wide trucks and block it becomes heavy 😅😅

    • @ShortysSkateSeries
      @ShortysSkateSeries  2 роки тому

      @@hoodpatrolstrains1010 It's really personal preference. I skate blades as well so skating with angled legs works best for me. I feel more stable as I have a wider base. But I wasn't able to slide with angled legs without slipping out until I designed the Bont ones.
