Jimmy and Questlove Lose It Over Dan White's Insane Ball of Yarn Magic Trick

Questlove always looks so hurt and betrayed by every magician on the show. Lmao
Duh... He's black.... Lol... The hood has a love hate relationship with magic...
I wonder if Questlove would feel more awestruck or betrayed if he was the participant for card mechanic Richard Turner’s performance.
Jimmy manages to turn every episode into some fraction of the birthday party he always wanted as a kid.. but never got to have.
hehe xD
Hang on brb I got a new message
perceptive!
Man, that is CLASSIC! I never saw it that way before! That's why it's always juvenile and he's fake-enjoying everything so much!
Genius level observation.
#Respect
0:06 questlove just making sure his hand still there
I absolutely love Quest's reactions every time he participates in magic tricks! He's so genuine!
1:58 I love how Quest stepped forward like life was gonna be OK after Jimmy said "spoon" and realized there wasn't anything gross in the box!!!
Hahaha, wow you're right
hahaha great observation
😂😂😂 so true!
Good thing David Blane didn’t do this trick. He probably would of ate his phone then cough up a frog.
Lmao 😂😂
He probably would’ve filled the box with cheez-its
🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣
@@CountDooku0 CHEEZ ITS! CHEEZ ITS! CHEEZ ITS! CHEEZ ITS! WHAT THE F?!
@@RyanMonty bruh that series killed me 🤣🤣
I love Jimmy’s smile when he finished describing the last item he touched @ 6:45!!!!!!!!!! 🥰😂😁😝
Quest has Playing cards on his phone case?!
Chris Ramsay exactly what I thought !
But he never showed it's back side at the end
but what do the cards have to do with anything, they were inside the case so theres no way jimmy felt them
Chris Ramsay oh ya
Chris Ramsay : your videos are better.
I saw this dude at The NoMad and as great as this is, it's nothing compared to some of the other stuff he pulls off. If you are in NYC and have a chance you gotta go. It's expensive but it's worth it. Something my family and I will never forget.
Had tickets and was gonna fly out from SD but covid happened and shut my plans down. Now The Nomad is closed for good...
jimmys face shift from 6:43-6:45 actually made me laugh
"Jimmy go down the box"
"Imagine youre hungry Jimmy and go down"
"Deep in the box Jimmy"
How refreshing to see some original tricks 🏆
RENATA CANTORE GROSS ha penn n teller FU
RENATA CANTORE GROSS there not really a lot of magic around is there
I always love to see Questlove laughing XD
He wanted jimmy to say candy bar, that’s why he wanted to imagin he was hungry haha
And that is why I love magic so much!
Everything about these tricks are awesome.
Quest is in on the trick, the trick is basically for us and Jimmy. The phone he gave him was a fake, because he took out his phone to fast when he asked him for it.
jim's head so messed up after seeing that magic that he finger towards questlove and says " dan white everybody..." XD
i’m so happy they brought him back on the show!
Beautiful magic right there.
This trick is really easy to explain. When Dan White places QuestLove's cell phone into the box, he then calls upon the power of Ancistroides Nigrita, a chocolate butterfly belonging to the family Hesperiidae, to move the cell phone from the box into the yarn and then summons and leaves behind a chocolate bar instead. People are so stupid to be fooled by this!
😂😂😂😂😂😂😂 omg
THANK YOU! A like minded individual. So many rubes.
yeah if you look closely at 2:07 you can see the invisible spirit of Nigrita exploding into the Golden Realm of Existence and beyond the Silken Veil of Illusion via his back pocket.
Nigga what?
You don’t have any content on your channel. But I wish you did!
he expected jimmy to say chocolate bar
Because there was actually a chocolate bar in the box, and jimmy was imagining being hungry, it wasn't that difficult.
Yeah he performed Well, mentalism is hard to do with such an active audience like that. The trick was fun still.
No shit Sherlock
He didnt expect anything, do you not understand what the trick is?
@bullsi20 Let me guess, you think mind reading is real. lmao get over yourself.
3:08 "Quest, I want you to put out your right hand"
Quest looks at both hands, which one is my right?!?
Watched it a few times, Quest grabbed whatever phone that he had immediately almost before he asked, usually you'd be like "hell no!"
Yeah it's a bit weird since Quest is consistently very skeptical during tricks & this is the only part of the trick that isn't obvious...
It sounds like Jimmy says "Damn right everybody!" at the end haha
That is what he says.
@@jacksonjack7838 Dan White everybody
I think what we are all wondering is how a ball of yarn felt like a rubber crab
Do rubber crabs even exist????
Well they weren't feeling what we saw. They reached into a different compartment with something different. For jimmy it was a small spoon, for Quest it was probably like a rubber toy animal, like a turtle or a coiled snake or something.
@@TheDilligan Exactly!! I’m not totally impressed bye magicians who uses fake boxes
@@flyingisland7583 Me either but what about the phone in the yarn?
@@FoxyDrew He took his phone without him noticing and replaced it with a dummy phone before the trick started and formed the yarn around it. The phone quest thought he had wasn't really his phone the whole time. It's honestly a common trick for magicians to do, I wasn't impressed by any of this at all.
5:32 quest already knew he was going to ask for the cell phone
This Show is very good.
I love Jimmy Fallon
"Don't worry I'm not damaging your phone. It's plastic"
Sure looks like you're beating it up good!!
Oh, man, that chocolate bar thing really made me laugh my ass off. Well played, Dan. Well played. This guy is really good. The initial part didn’t go quite as he planned, but he rolled with it. It happens to the best of us. And that ending was killer.
Y ain’t it go as plan the fone was in the yarn
It all went exactly as he planned.
He is amazing👏👏👏
Jimmy's "wait, what" was the most genuine one I have ever heard
Have loved this illusion since Darren Brown performed it.
That was amazing
Fantastic!!
That's crazy we seen him put the phone in that box it's amazing what magicians can do
I read Dana White at first and I was wondering how on earth that guy could have gone from the UFC to doing magic tricks...........it would have been nice.....sure would have made him more likeable lol.
Same here :)
Lol same, then i felt dumb (back to reality)
At this point there's nothing Dana white can do to be more likeable. He's just a straight up ass.
Questlove is hilarious haha
Lmao. Jimmy’s Lovin’ Quests turn!! 😈😱😂❤️😍🙌😇🔥🔥🔥😜 xxx
That was amazing.
He wanted him to say spider.
why
Before the show started Dan switched Questloves phone with one that looks just like his without him knowing. He then put the real phone in the ball of yarn. Then he hid the fake one, and made it seem like he teleported his real phone inside the ball of yarn... great illusion!
I agree that’s the only common sense explanation, but It seems like a huge amount of risk and work. I suppose you can know in advance what kind of phone and case questlove has, but what if he tries to use it after the switch but before the illusion? So the switch probably happened just before they went on air, most likely by a trusted band member or producer. On the other hand, he unlocked “his” phone, which adds another layer of complexity. I don’t know…?
The other part that’s interesting, I’m not sure if Jimmy Fallon cut in too soon, but what happened to the photo that Quest took? Seems like that should’ve been part of the act?
I love it!!!
jimmy was so happy with the answer 6:44
7:49 once seeing his phone is now chocolate Quest eyeballs the yarn. He's got to be in on it.
He actually looks at both of the original items. Watch closely. First he looks to the yarn, then he looks to the ladle. I think it’s reasonable and normal for someone who is confused to look at other things that were involved in the confusion.
you nailed it. They always do this crap on Fallon and Jimmy has awful tells that he knows what is coming and Quest had an obvious tell for that one. These kind of tricks are BS
Jesus H Christ! Reading all the lame comments, you'd think White is NOT really performing ACTUAL magic! The nerve of him!
CrazyWedz i
Its not that, its just that the trick is extremely easy to do. Its not complicated, no slight of hand or anything. Just needs some prior set up and some good acting.
Brandon Buccella Magicians do tricks, they are all show. This being a show, he worked out a trick with Jimmy and Quest before hand. I don't see the problem. The people were entertained, that's the key. Honestly, I enjoy watching to see if I can figure out how its done but most video magic is done this way and its boring. That doesn't mean other can't enjoy it and I see no real need to point it out to people. If they didn't figure it out, that means they enjoyed it.
Jimmy needs to put on a dress, an assistant's dress.
yes, but this one was painfully simple and not at all misleading. I love magic shows and think that when done cleverly, can be mesmerizing. This was just not one of those tricks. Theres no wow factor, its "oh, they just pre wrapped his phone and gave him a fake one" theres no misdirection and relies purely on willingness and acting ability. I have seen better magic acts on AGT (America's Got Talent)
Lol, Questlove's expressions throughout this!
Wow that's just blew my mind
Quest gave it up by giving his phone over a split second after the magician asked for his phone.
I thought that was a bit quick as well.
8:07 "oh hell nah"
Man recently i begane as a hobby to learn magic, and now in place of enjoying the whole trick i keep looking at the magician's hand 😅😂
There should of been a picture of a rubber crab and a rubber duck as the phones lock screen 😅
I feel like this trick didn’t go completely to plan
Naw it's just chocolate
Had me cracking up lol
quests nervous laugh is priceless
I have no words 😶👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻
quest pulled out his phone suspiciously fast
Way too fast. In on the trick. Only way it's done...
you should have more illusionist on your show!
Amazing
Well about damn time that they uploaded a magic show❗️😅
The guy that invented this trick was on Penn & Tellers Fool Us. He fooled them and they were amazed by it
His name? Do you remember?
***REVEALED***
Quests’s phone has been pickpocketed before the trick and a similar phone that has a similar phone case was inside his pocket. Meanwhile His actual phone was wrapped inside that wool ball before the trick.when the actual trick is commencing he didnt unlocked the phone or didnt check whether its his phone and gives the phone to Dan .. all the whats inside the box tricks were distractions to make sure Quest doesnt turn his phone on.... jimmy’s trick was only a little mind trick.
Or, he knew what kind of phone and case Quest had, he wrapped a similar one up in yarn. Then he switches them out before he hands it to Quest? That was my initial thought
100%
That’s right.
I think Quest was in on it. It takes him less than a second to produce a phone when the magician signals for one.
Noconz0727 MC yes it can be either way
That's a pretty cool and creative take on a magician. He isn't over the top but it's like a subtle way.
Impressive!!!
If that was questloves phone then it must have been in the yarn before the act started which means either A he was in on it or B he was pickpocketed amd they switched it with a similar phone. B is risky but the payoff for success is much greater
Ryan Hatton ... B is not risky at all if the phone is lifted at the proper time, such as right before he went out for the night’s show. An identical phone, maybe even with an identical start screen pic, would then be replaced into his pocket. But sometimes people ARE in on it. Ratings. This is entertainment.
Why didn't they show the rear of the phone that was revealed?
This is great
Love your show!!! He He He!
Those were two different phones. The back of the case is different when it comes out of the yarn.
He gave it away. "Isn't this your one and only phone?"
Damnn ive never seen this one before! Crazy one Dan White ! 💯
How the frigity frack did he do that! That was awsome
I'm a magician but that was amazing.
Yo , what do u perform
Anybody else notice they don’t seem to reach down very far for the first couple objects? I think there’s some sort of trick shelves in there that he pulls out as he lifts the front cover
wow, very good!
If its a trap floor, what happens to it when he removes the cover for the audience?
Keith Segovia maybe it hinges up against the cover? I haven’t gone back to see if we always see both sides of the cover.
I immediately thought the same that's why he made noises to distract also whilst he was doing it
yea that part isn't hard to figure out. They only reach half way down, so its obviously a trick box that has the objects they feel in the top part, and the objects revealed in the bottom. You can see him when he lifts the front cover to reveal them he has his hand/thumb on the back side panel pushing in the hidden shelf/object as hes lifting the front cover. First on the right side (you looking) and then with the yarn, on the left side (sliding up his hand). He's pushing in the hidden side compartments at that point. The part with the phone. The ONLY way that could be done was if Quest was in the trick, OR he was told ahead of time he would need to have his phone for the trick. Otherwise, the trick wouldn't work if Quest didn't have his phone on him. What if quest didn't have a phone on him, the trick would have failed right there when he ASKED for the phone. The phone is thin enough to be pushed into the hidden side panels where the other spoon/rubber spider were hid. So he was either in on the trick and had "his" phone handy, or he was told he would need to give his phone for the trick and was ready with his phone. Otherwise, tap Quest on the shoulder, give the "phone" hand signal, Quest doesn't have a phone on him.. fail trick.
Nicely done...
That was good!
Magic would be if the ladle started ringing..
i think there is a compartment inside the side of the box
gearg123 inside that secret compartment is an embarrassing picture of spongebob at a Christmas party
The audience’s reactions made it more hilarious
And more fun
Awesome Fun !!!
wonderful work by magician
Quest looks like hes totally fed up with the show.
Can you imagine working with Jimmy Fallon every day?
Wow!
I love quest
The way questlove was acting in the beginning, I'd say he was in on it. 🤔
yeah i would say there was two phones...one already in the yarn and one that went in the box...no amount of magic in the world is gonna teleport a phone inside a ball of yarn...
At 4:52, notice that the ball of yarn is on a white platform, where the chocolate bar is inside. That platform wasn't there at the beginning of the trick.
Max that still doesn’t explain how quests phone got into it though?
It’s TV magic. Different from real street magic. Most of this stuff is generally set up for the camera because the show is all for the live audience and the viewers, not the subjects being used for the trick. The phone was already in the yarn before hand and the one he gave was just a fake - he never showed the screen, only the back!
Max Is the bar a distractor while he slips off the platform 2 put it & the phone in floor's box?
luvvinallmusik 57 no idea, but that's just one thing I noticed about that trick
Max The bar not being in w the ladle is ok. We never see him put any items in, not even the phone. He just took one from Quest. Quest doesn't verify the phone's his when he gives it 2 the guy.
Not that you'd care but it's my 1st time figuring out a magic trick.
that was badass!!!!!
Wow 😮
Starting at 5:11, if he’s putting something in the box that “everyone can see” why is he hiding the fact that he’s now going back into the box for something while he’s talking? He wants us to BELIEVE he’s putting away the little platform the ball of yarn was sitting on, but in fact, he’s placing the chocolate bar into the bottom of the box. Then, at 5:45, when he reaches down to place the cell phone into the box, he CLEARLY isn’t placing it at the bottom - his hand stops on the middle of the box - there is some sort of trick shelf there with a deck of wrapped cards.
Also, that’s not Quest’s cell phone he pulls out of his pocket. That’s an imposter, and either QL is in on the trick, and he’s aware, of his cell phone was taken before the segment and wrapped in the ball of yarn ahead of time without his knowledge.
I like a good yarn, even if it's phoney. ;)
That is a good pun. Excellent job there.
Ha! I was trying to imagine what would be in the box (phone bit) and I thought of a chocolate bar! and a plastic wrapper!
Mind blown
First, Quest goes to his pocket *_VERY_* quickly when asked for the phone. Second, what if Quest didn't have his phone on him at the time? Third, Quest's reaction could be authentic if his cell had been switched before the show by someone of confidence - it would have been most likely after Quest had silenced his phone in order to start the show taping. Or, Quest was in on the whole thing (which could tie back into #1). Quest's very quick hand movement to his phone upon the silent request was almost as if he was anticipating the question.
TazTalksYouListen had his hand in his pocket and grabs his phone
noL1Fe - Look at the amount of time between when Dan actually makes the cell phone gesture and when Questlove begins to grab for his phone. It is a wee bit too fast for something that should have been that unexpected.
it was half setup they did a rehearsal where quest gave up his phone one time and thats when they switched it thats why quest knew to give up his phone right away but didnt know it had been switched
Holly shit!!! He is good!!!
You got me dan
Did anyone else think it said Dana white
crazy shit. i thought it said Dana White
Yes lol been on ufc binge
Allllright...so how he do people? .GO!!!!...
he did not. Just two phones, the rest is all act. There is literally no trick here.
Grab a phone, wrap into that thing before the show, go to Questlove say :"hey brotha, can you say that this is your phone?" aaannnd that's it !
you are welcome sir.
This clearly does look like a setup indeed. My only question is where is his real phone. I looked at his hands very carefully, and I didn't catch any movement. The walls of the container are too narrow for a slit such as quests phone. Any ideas?
Extra Awesome I think the phone would fit into the walls, the case doesn't look very bulky. There's probably an opening facing the guy on the bottom of the box and he's sliding the phone into the compartment with his left thumb. Then he slides the box to Jimmy to make sure the phone is in there. Then he tips the box forward to dump out the chocolate, but he's really making the phone fall to the front of the box so it doesn't fall out when he lifts it up. As for the chocolate, you can see the box it was under when he shows the yarn.
No way. I believe Questlove's reactions are genuine. It's much more realistic to think that White pickpocketed Questlove's phone and replaced it with a similar looking phone. He wraps up the real phone in the yarn and asks for the fake phone during the set. David Blane has done similar tricks before where he leaves a card or part of a card in someone's pocket before the set and then makes it look like he somehow magically got it there.
He flipped down the interior walls of the box to form a false bottom concealing what actually rested at the bottoms and holding a tiny object that they actually felt. This is clear because their hands don’t reach far enough to touch the actual bottom, and you can see and hear him manipulate the box’s walls each time he flips them down and back up. Very clever.
As for the phone:
The phone in the yarn was there the entire time, and, if Quest wasn’t in on the trick, another phone was made to look like his and swapped into his pocket or placed in the yarn beforehand.
The magician could have checked with Quest beforehand to make sure he’d bring his phone on stage. He could have done this just before or some time before the bit under the guise of some preparation, especially seeing as the whole bit wouldn’t have worked at all if quest didn’t have his phone on him. He could have quickly, easily, and discretely unlocked the phone via FaceID and angling it toward quest or letting quest unlock it accidentally just by holding it out in front of himself before handing it over to “check that it’ll work” for the bit. He then could have taken screenshot of the home screen just by squeezing the sides and sent it to himself or an accomplice in under a few seconds without quest seeing or thinking anything of it. He’d also then get a chance to try to identify an approximate lookalike for the case.
He could then create a duplicate that could fool Quest by displaying that screenshot full screen on another phone (either just as an image or via a custom app to make it behave more like a lock screen.
When he places the phone in the box, he was careful not to show the audience the screen of the phone. For one thing, if he’d taken a screenshot for the clone, over a minute could pass between when he takes the phone and when Quest looks at it and the time could appear wrong.
You can then see/hear him hiding swapping the phone for the candy bar hidden in the false wall of the box.
When he reveals Quest’s phone at the end, he’s careful not to show the audience or quest the case, and has him just look at the lock screen to confirm that it’s his phone (again, which could just be a screenshot taken from before).
If he wanted to be able to do all this on the fly, he could have loaded the clone phone in the yarn with an app that just idles, waits to receive a screenshot, then displays the sent screenshot full screen and stays otherwise unresponsive.
If he wanted to be quick, all he had to do was get ahold of Quest’s phone for a few seconds, and check out the color/size of the case, angle it toward Quest’s face when he hands it to him, and send himself a screenshot in under 5 seconds while Quest is distracted. He could have several phones running an app with different cases that will automatically receive and display the screenshot (or if he has more time he just does this manually with one and fits a lookalike case on it), then puts the lookalike in the yarn and makes sure to hand it to Quest for confirmation without showing the back of the case.
So coolll
I notice how every time Dan gives direction, he repeats him self. Lol it’s funny.
