    Very interesting video, many things mentioned in the video by GM Chu as well as some of the effects are similar to the Taichi I'm practicing, I'm kinda curious if he discovered this on his own, or was Ip Man and his other disciples able to do this too.

    • @MindfulWingChun

      Im not too sure if any other Ip Man student attained the same level as Chu Shong Tin did. One man who is still alive and teaching in Sydney is named Sifu Derek Fung. Sifu Derek is one of the early students of Ip Man who started in the 50s. He actually learned a lot from Chu Shong Tin and has said that he believed Chu Shong Tin was the best student of Ip Man.
      Sifu Derek talks about the internal side of Wing Chun and is very highly skilled (and so are some of his students).
      Master Chu did say that Ip Man had a high level of internal control - but on the other hand, Ip Man crowned him 'The King of Siu Nim Tao' so perhaps he acknowledged something in Chu Shong Tin that he didn't have within himself.
      Chu Shong Tin told us a few times that Ip Man talked about 'Lop Nim' or the power of the mind and he mentioned that his master Leung Bik had a very high level of this "Mind-Power". He said Leung Bik was very small built and very old when Ip Man began his training under him and Ip was amazed at his effortless method of developing tremendous power.
      Hope this helps,
      Nima

      Hi thx for the reply, what you said do make sense considering how majority of the ppl do Wingchun and how GM Chu's version is so different, I do think its highly likely that he has discovered something that others in the same line did not, and what is really interesting for me is that what he describe correspond to many other high level internal masters I've met from other systems, its pretty rare for someone to be able to discover this on their own I must say.

    your videos are amazing. just i question Nima. Its a great loss that Chu Shong Tin passed away :(
    So relaxing the spine and Dai Kong gives already extra force.
    Sigong's Qi is the next level ? how much extra power does it give ? (i heard 5 times greater) ? but how much is the power (Qi) is more than just "relaxing, and dai kong" just like what you did Nima ?

    • @MindfulWingChun
      @MindfulWingChun  2 роки тому

      Hey man sorry for the very late reply!! Yes when he used what he called Nim Lik it was not only much more powerful but if felt different too. It felt like our force would bounce back towards us as soon as contact was made. The relaxation and use of center of mass didnt have that feeling. So there was something definitly added and changed when he applied Nim Lik. According to him the texture of the muscles changed and became more elastic with Nim Lik too.

    Does it feel weird to have Nim Lik and Chi passed to you? Also, do you think Chu Shong-Tin learned to pass it on by Ip Man? Can you explain Chi and Nim Lik again and their differences? It's a little hard to understand the translator.

    • @MindfulWingChun
      @MindfulWingChun  4 роки тому +1

      It feels relaxing and opening as it travels through, so its very comfortable. there is also a sense of confidence with it like a knwing that the joints can take on a lot of force. And No Ip Man didn't do this but he had heard of it from his teacher La=eung Bik (according to what he verbally told CST).
      And you can say Nim Lik and Chi are the same thing. Energy, or intention traveling through the body...

  • @turboesther36

    Interesting placebo effect, but I’d like to see some science on this.

    • @MindfulWingChun
      @MindfulWingChun  6 років тому +7

      yeah man, hopefully we can get it tested one day as it is real so therefor science should be able to detect something.. We could say it placebo if he was just touching someone and saying ' yeah no you can do it', but actually as shown in the vid, if you held his forearm when he was mobilizing the energy, it is very very clear that there is something flowing in it. as i mentioned in the vid, he was able to make it go in the opposite direction too. and it wasn't just in his forearms, you could feel it in his palms, upper arms, legs and even (smaller pulsations) in the head.
      only problem is that he passed away 3 yrs ago. so Im working very hard to try and pick up what he was doing and see if it can be put under test. Give me 5 to 10 years and perhaps I can attain a small level of it and out it under test :)

      From my understanding chi is- its massive muscle control and the manifesto of complete uncloudy focus. We've all been there, where you're sparring and everything flows slower you can see things like you're in the moment, some primal clarity. I can't explain it but many experience.
      Also this imo relates to chi and the internal forces like how the high ranks at my school move like a whip and can punch but the fist is still in your chest after it hits. (I beleive it also has to do with a perfect blend of two philosophies. Western boxings elastic recoil, and easterns bone stacking.)
      www.healthguidance.org/entry/17392/1/The-Kinetic-Chain--How-to-Plug-Energy-Leaks-for-Better-Form-and-Fewer-Injuries.html
      Also if this seems like voodoo do know one of the most popular Physical therapist on UA-cam talks about it. (Jeff caviler?) Atheleanx.
      And legendary martial artist DK yoo is phenomenal at this. (Look em up)
      Another thing to note. If you plug leaks and control the energy flow. We know that like in physics a pipe with compressed fluids has more pressure
      I think it's Gay Lussacs law?or maybe boyles, one of the gas laws. Pressure goes up if volume goes down. (Inversly proportional.) So tight control means the pressure when released is explosive.
      And the mental state thing. In Psychology I studied the plasticity of the brain and it's ability to change and grow and develop pathways. The transfer of info is dependant on the neurons. I believe the mental aspect of chi is possibly just developing pathways in the brain that lead to quicker reflexes and that focus state. (Flow state" according to Mind Smash on UA-cam. )
      This is all I can offer at the moment until I learn much more and apply my engineering and science education to the eastern arts "magic " ("magic is science we don't understand yet.")
      Sincerely just some meager Kung fu student and boxing chump.

      I agree it looks like placebo from a force generation point of view. Having said that, I've myself experienced "energy" put into my body and felt it as a very powerful sensation before I knew anything like that was supposed to be happening. So I think there's an effect you can feel. However, from a forces/useful effect point of view, it looks very obvious e.g. at 10.08 when CST puts his hand on Nima's head that Nima is sinking down (watch the top of his head relative the sign behind), and from that advantageous angle is able to quickly slide the other persons fook sao up his forearm almost to his elbow gaining a significant mechanical advantage.

    • @G4mer_D4d
      @G4mer_D4d 6 років тому

      i agree that if you don't look at key elements of action and reaction... you may not see what the power generation is, but you can see an effect that has no explanation... but yes,senses can be manipulated, and if that's not done in a lab its more of a working theory, and I'm glad CST is so transparent with that.

      Blind men never believe in color. Chi is real. It is Spirit. But there are many "kinds" [which can only be "seen" as movements]. The "idea" is the type used, but each must be formed or combined: like water in a cup. The Word is the pattern set which the chi must follow. The Water is the spirit which takes the "shape" of the cup it fills. When one "speaks", the lips form the "breath" [vapor] which go outward and affect those it falls upon Just as the cup pours out essence through the "lip" or mouth of the glass. So it is with inner energy. When you use "weight", it adds weight to your attack, the "movement" is secondary to the spirit. Each idea is a kind which must be put in order and may be added upon other ideas until the same movement contains more power than before. But one can only use what is in one's "cup". Not everyone has the same kinds of chi within. And each kind of chi is counteracted by another "kind". Every man and woman is unique in what he possesses.
      In other words: the chi is spirit which is "water" and feminine. The Word is masculine, which is the shape or intent given. The will of the user affects the strength of the effect.
      Mundane force is mundane. Movement is effect, not cause. All things begin with stillness [an empty cup is of no use], then the idea and "will" send out the Chi to perform what it is meant to do. Every martial art has inner ideas or patterns filled with the invisible. The invisible moves the visible. The sail is flesh. The power to move ships is not in the obvious fabric, but in the unseen wind which drives it.
      Don't worry about "skeptics", for they do not seek truth and prefer the dark. No one can argue with such force when they experience it. You have dedicated your life to this because it is real and important. CST sought the truth and found a hidden aspect. It goes deeper than the "martial", and will forever be vital to who we truly are.

He was short, very slim and looked very weak but he was very strong in term of skill. People was cheated by his outlook. I saw his photo that I won't even believe that. Foshan has also official documentary about him. This lineage which emphasizes internal energy and footwork. It also has Qi Kung which is to strengthen the health. Unfortunately, not that many people has the luck to learn from this lineage as there are not many masters teaching it. I am worried that it will lose its lineage in the next generations.
