4:38 This is how the Dover Boys finds a saloon. Dover Boys: NO! IN HERE! (Hides under the pool table) Dan Backslide: The Dover Boys? Then Dora must be alone and *unprotected!*
I've watched the reanimated video on its own several times -- it's really cool to see all the different artists' styles. But it's strange: when they're presented together like this, I find it really hard not to just watch the original continuously.
I hadn't seen this cartoon in its original form for years! The reanimation was pretty funny, too, especially the Ed, Edd, and Eddy style used in some of the scenes as well as seeing Dora as an anime character briefly 👍👍👍👍👍👍
That's part of the joke. The "Rover Boys" (the hilariously badly written adventure series the original cartoon satirized) were three brothers who were basically interchangeable characters who shared everything. The satire was written for (and by) 1940s young adults who grew up reading those books in the 1910s.
Gran esfuerzo en mezclar varias técnicas de animación, pero definitivamente prefiero, disfruto, y encuentro mucho más agradable la versión original, sea en inglés, o bien en español
7:40 & 7:52 so go hand in hand together. First scene feels one for one, but with their own animated touches. (Like when Dan goes head first to the floor) Then the second scene feels like you can actually replace the original with this one, and you wouldn’t tell that much of a difference, other than color pallets. It’s smoothly animated & expressive in a Looney Tunes fashion.
Chuck Jones was taking the p1$$ out of two things: The hilariously badly written "Rover Boys" books his generation grew up reading, and the sort of BMOC the boys sort of represented.
Agreed, such missed potential given that it's basically why people even remember this short in the first place. The preceding scene is smooth and a great style. The following scene has a good number of references, most prominently Senketsu (Ryuko's sentient school uniform/Kamui) from Kill la Kill which got a good laugh out of me when I first saw him. Befitting given KLK is similarly zanny, that I and just appreciate others remembering that it's a thing given how anime is always about the next big thing. But the main "I'll steal it!", very generic. I get that they wanted to give opportunities to smaller creators, hence why Señor Pelo wasn't given a prime scene. But even he made the most of it and all the animators breathed so much more life and personality into Dora than in the original. So I don't know why their version of "I'll Steal it!" passed since I would have tried to redo it if time allowed
I’m willing to bet that it was performance anxiety. Like, I’m sure that they wanted to do so much more with it, but they weren’t able to. Probably because there might’ve been a lot of pressure and it had hindered their development process. That’s just my theory anyway.
Original is better. The remake actually looks like it's trying to make fun of the original. But that's just my take . I liked both but I favor the original
I don’t think you quite understand how much time, work, and effort went into this. Today’s garbage my ass, if today lived up to the standards you proclaim it to be, we wouldn’t have this reanimation to begin with, let alone a true work of art like this.
"Help, Larry!" is hands-down my favorite. That anime style is so out of place and corny I love it.
Me too ,that was so pretty
It Was Beautiful and Amazing 6:06
Me too! She looks so cute 🥰
It’s so perfect for the voice acting 😂😂
Oh, yes! Has become one of my favorite line reads because of the Anime style. I wish so much we could see these actors preforming so dramatically!
Given The Dover Boys was a experimental animation, it makes sense to redo it in so many different formats
They did the reanimated collab for the cartoon’s 76th anniversary in 2018
“A Runabout, I’ll Steal It, No One will ever know” Dan Backslide said calmly
Just like Dumbledore
That and the change to the driving clothes makes me laugh every time 😅
Nobody talking about how dora was able to throw dan backslide across the house and knock him unconscious but couldn't open the door.
It was a mahogany door
I mean most of us understand that it’s supposed to be ironic and funny
4:38 This is how the Dover Boys finds a saloon.
Dover Boys: NO! IN HERE! (Hides under the pool table)
Dan Backslide: The Dover Boys? Then Dora must be alone and *unprotected!*
And how Dan finds a ride: "A runabout! I'LL STEAL IT!! NO ONE WILL EVER KNOW!!"
it's still weird to think the eyebrow wiggle was in the original and not just something made for the reanimated
the fact that sr pelo took it seriously and added no disturbing faces
When is his part
when ??? girl is knocking in the door
@@schhur6:43
BRO I JUST NOTICED THAT SR PELO WAS PART OF IT
Didn't add disturbing faces, but DID use a two-frame animation loop for her shaking the door handle lmao
To this day I love that Dan backslide pumps the car with air to give it the sound effect it needs to start the engine

That's not a bad thing.
Golden!! Top notch. The pacing set by the music is what kills me every time. Great job from everyone involved. 👏
7:52 Dan looked even more pathetic looking when comparing to the original as he screams for help.

The Dover Boys is already a classic, but im finding many of the parts in the reanimation to be way better.
True, but there are other parts where the original is better.
7:13 I can't tell which version of this scene is funnier.
I think the Hanna Barbara style helps + the hold-up position
@@shaydystheshadowqueen9584 Yeah I was thinking I seen that art style before.
Thank you for the re-upload!! I was wondering if I’d ever see it again! ❤️❤️❤️❤️
Is no one going to talk about how Dora is engaged to three guys at the same time?
Now 4 if you count the homeless man she gets with at the end
We don't talk about it because it grosses us out

82 years later, and this short never revealed what happened to that runabout.

How did they make the letters P and U get together just like that?
After effects probably
holy fuck why i saw josuke, shit gotta ru-
I never understood why they were all doing jojo poses on the bikes
They should make a sequel to this cartoon
Bruh you sure you need saving you threw this man so many times
It's a mating ritual, I think. She specifically wants to be rescued, and thus getting herself out of trouble simply will not do.
The man was weak. The door was handcrafted mahogany

He was hoping to see a demonstration on knot tying

Why are there so many Disney shorts on UA-cam but it's so hard to fine Warner Bro's?

There’s a ton of looney tunes on UA-cam! Just not some of these more obscure shorts that don’t feature iconic characters
