The singer of the group knew that Charlie was a bad guy, because he tried to get an alcoholic to drink! She declined but she knew he was up to no good!
I just watched the episodes and i didn't hear heather say he left me, i thought she said "he's gone" ... Which can mean a lot of things in the apocalypse
@@jonfreeman9682 that’s what I heard too. What were they at the time, 17? That would have been a big ole nope, and Ish knew better. I can’t say the same for Emma, she trusts the world way too much.
Something the show left out from the books is why Joey is the favorite. Ish is the school teacher. But he doesn't understand kids, or how to make learning interesting. He's genuinely frustrated with them, and their reluctance to learn. Until Joey starts school. Unlike the others, he has fun learning. He's the most like Ish, and becomes the favorite
As a parent, I would not have let her go. At 17? No way. Put it this way, as a parent I’m not letting my 17 year old explore the world as it is now, let alone during an apocalypse where survivors are desperate and there is no law and order.
I WAS SHOCKED Emma allowed this...for a person who grew up in a military family and who's mom was a nurse. I know she's knows bad people are out there in the world who like doing bad things just because is that stupid....Emma really gets on my nerves with her stupid, reckless choices...

Some things to remember about this new illness: 1) They have been exposed to a new group of people. Who knows what kind of germs they brought in with them and 2) What role does no longer having childhood vaccines play in preventing illness? All we have to do is look back at smallpox infected blankets to understand how new germs can run through a place. Or, to TWD's prison illness storyline.
Its the middle brother doing this! 100% They was around them for 2 years! And the sickness came after the party! After the dad gave the brother kis peace of cake
Don’t forget that Jorge is a man who does believe in God. His faith was what gave him pause when it came to the decision to kill Charlie. I don’t think it was about him not seeing Evie as his daughter. He was thinking about what would become of their souls. He also was thinking about what killing someone would mean for their community. He even said if they do this they will lose everything they built. It was a lot like the turmoil Boyd experienced on From in Season 1 when he was deciding whether or not to put the dude who was passed out drunk at the bar when his wife and his daughter got killed by the monsters in the box.
@@cjwilliamsvi thank you for the context. The question would be then how do you get rid of him. He already said he was not leaving. How would they handle it? You can’t let him stay after he assaulted a community member/family member.
Please don’t judge the book by the show. This could have been a show we could debate like we do on From. It’s too bad that this show couldn’t have been a multi episode season series because there were so many nuances they did not show to make the actions of people make sense in 6 episodes. It’s a complex themed book that if adapted needs time to tell the story. Like Dune or Game of Thrones. The show didn’t adequately focus on the important interactions and like it shows how will civilization move forward. Using characters to show the differences between before the pandemic and after. The book fills those times in. For example; Jorge is very religious. His resistance to killing Charlie was based on his relationship to his religion. He loves Evie but he couldn’t consider taking a life. The show didn’t make that clear. The book asks us to see how our characters move in the world and how they influence the community: intuition (Emma), rationalism (Ish) people skills (Izrah) compassion (Molly). IMO Charlie was like an evil naturally charismatic cult leader who rolled through settlements taking everything he wanted including people. A snake in the grass. The sickness is the supposed to be typhoid fever. No vaccines no immunity. The relationship between Ish & his sons wasn’t fleshed out. Ish as a leader is always looking to determine who will lead after he no longer can. Joey is most like Ish. He naturally takes to book learning, natural curiosity and analytical thinking. Ish loves both his sons but he relates more to Joey than Alex. Hint- pay attention to the young people. Notice how customs and knowledge have changed. How has the Earth environment changed? The opening credits change at every episode to show how it has. CIVILIZATIONS MAY CHANGE BUT THE EARTH ABIDES. I’d like to explain so much more but I don’t want to spoil.❤️❤️❤️
@@lunacascade1125 I interpreted Joey's status differently. The kids were acting like he was the next to be leader, or maybe priest. But I think Ish wanted him to be the keeper of the knowledge of the times before, not necessarily the village leader
Thank you for this perspective it is so good to have been who have actually read the book watch the show with us. I can only imagine how much has to be slipped and overlooked when making a book to a show and a show that is a limited series. How many episodes would you say it would take to adequately show the book love?
The most powerful set of scenes for me was the whole Ish taking out Charlie to avenge Evie. (I bet Emma will back up off that naivete now won't she?). When Ish said "who do we ask for forgiveness?", it hit me like a brick. How hopeless is this existence? How many morally questionable choices are they going to have to make? Without God, or a higher power to turn to for comfort and guidance, they are truly all alone in this dismal new world.
30:30 I think the "unloved" son is somehow responsible for the death of the "favored" son, Joey. Just like Cain killed Abel because God favored one over the other. Just a thought!
I don’t think I wouldn’t just let the new people decide if they wanted to say. We would have to interview them individually and then WE would decide if we wanted to invite them to stay. They barely know those people. With that many new people, they gotta set up laws or rules with consequences.
Exactly that is a hard choice. If you kick them out or at least the men they may come back. Like you said interviews would have been a must and maybe putting them in their own homes.
The mother Emma was getting on my nerves! She was way too trusting even after Ish pointed out that dude was looking at Evie crazy! Like would you be that carefreeif he was looking at your daughter? And to see that it bothered your husband so much that he went into the woods and got lost and that still didn't change your mind. Then after that poor girl was taking advantage of you didn't even give a good apology!
Hey everyone, those episodes were really good! I might have missed something, but I thought the boy who was with Heather had died. It turns out that’s not the case; he just went off to be with someone else or to go on his own adventure. Is that right? If that’s the case, it’s really messed up, and I hope it’s not true. The disease returning would be really sad.
Margo feels like he left and walked away. I feel like he died but they didn’t quite answer the question in the show. I think that was done intentionally.
I'm still watching episode 4 but the wife who's so friendly was so excited to meet the new people lol, it was a bit annoying! Sorry, I try to be positive lol!
