I feel exhausted just watching all the hard labor that must go into digging this type of well. So much great information in this video, Anuja, including words of wisdom on how it might be possible to collect more water and prevent shortages. I also enjoyed knowing how well sites are determined with the help of a coconut! Thank you so much for this!
Great educational video Anuja and your son produced. I had no idea how severe the drought is in South India. Please continue to make other videos. Thank you
Anuja, another very well packaged video. Providing background potential solutions and use of the coconut as a water divining rod were masterful additions to the narrative. Ron W
very interesting story. would be wonderful to be able to figure out more scientically where the water is, but the coconut idea apparently has some merit. How that works would be interesting to know. Loved your story telling and the movie showing the hard labor. Thank goodness for a diesel motor to facilitate the lift. thanks for your beautiful movie effort. Loved the trip to South India. Think about it often, as with my sister Judy as we enjoyed it so so so much.
This is not a scientific method of finding ground water. In the villages of India the water diviners or dowsers use various shapes- Y-shaped branches of any plant, U- or L-shaped rods of any metal, coconuts, pendulum, etc--and use various “techniques” to spot the right place for digging wells. This is more based on the local tradition and belief.
