@@JonathanNotley I look forward to it, your videos have provided a lot of helpful info and entertainment. You're also part of the reason why I just sucked it up and got an M6 after about a year of terminal G.A.S'ing over them lol, so if my parner asks, just say they're cheap...
I've owned a trio of Summicrons (35mm/50mm/90mm), along with a M6 TTL (.72) since 2000 when I went all-in on a new system. Over the years I would guess that I've had the 35mm ASPH mounted on the camera more than 75% of the time. A few years ago I picked up a Minolta CLE and a M-Rokkor 28mm f2.8 that had been refurbished by Minolta back in the day. While the 28mm is very handy to have along at times, image quality aside, the 35mm focal length remains my go-to choice.
Thanks for the video. You use an argentic film, I see. I have two M6 with old 35/2, 90/2 and a 50/2 by Zeiss. I like their a lot, I just use a Fuji x100v when it rains. I use 35 as standard length. What scanner do you use, please ? Many thanks. PS the rangefinder is very fragile and the revision by an official as "Maison du Leica" in France is expensive, more than 900€ for a M6 with the 35/2.
@@JonathanNotley Thanks. I never think to use a macro lens, I have a scan Nikon 9000ED but the program isnt improved since Win 7 32 (and 64 with a little trick). Too, it takes time to put the film (135 or 120). Thx again, cordially, MB
I bought it second hand and the guy just handed it to me after the deal saying “this one fits it too”, nifty bit of kit to get as an added bonus. Ps. I love your channel, been a subscriber for a while!
I use an M11 and sold my lux as it is heavy and I’m missing a 35mm. Kindly advise me as I am seriously thinking of getting back to the 35mm again…. CRON vs LUX?? If a CRON what version/model do you suggest? Appreciate your help Thank you!!!!
It is always very easy to listen to you talking, great video! One question, does the front section of your lens hood unscrew from its base(the part with the claws) ? I have the silver version, it’s super stuck…
@@sixteenbitter Actually also the 12585H is compatible, and better for avoid vignetting and flare plus you can see more through it in the viewfinder. The most efficient hood is the included one, though.
Great video. I agree on the 28mm and glasses bit. It's so close to working that it drives me nuts. I keep coming back to 35 because it just works and I don't have to think about it!
That's a bit apples to oranges though isn't it? Where do you put the portra? Jokes aside I've been looking at the Q series because I'm a glasses wearer and want to shoot 28mm. What's the viewfinder experience like coming from a rangefinder?
Love seeing you in my sub box! Such a beautiful lens and it’s definitely on my bucket list when I have enough money!!
It's so nice to see you making videos again. :)
Glad you're making videos again fam
One a week man, I’m already planning for next Sunday

Thank you. The video is a perfect balance to technical info and creative work using this lens. My next purchase

Great to see that You are back!
Great pics of a great city. As a US Navy officer I feel compelled to tell you the HMS Belfast is a ship not a boat. Keep up the outstanding work!
Oi oi skippah!
I like how you got the pigeons to fly out from behind you after you said introduction. 😁
Only the 45th take...

I scanned these with an Eos R and the EF 100m 2.8 Macro

That lens hood tho

Can I ask you which is the hood? I hate the plastic one
Can you please tell me where I can get the metal lens hood ? Is there a part number ?
Been a while, good to ‘see’ you again

I agree that 35mm should be the standard lens instead of the 50. Now we just need to go back in time and get fast 35s for our film cameras
Thank you for this and saying that it’s okay to get a Canadian version.
Awesome videos and channel.
If you’re traveling and only have one lens no price what lens do you choose?
I’d take my 28 ‘cron
Proud owner of a Canadian version 4 here :-)

My hood doesn’t screw it’s held on by the two silver tabs on either side.
We missed you Jonathan ;)
Great review! On which camera are you using to shoot your videos?
What's the part number on that vented hood? It's not the 12585 is it? I didn't think it was compatible with the ASPH version 1.
It's a 12504
@@JonathanNotley thanks.

I really want to shoot 28mm but 35 is just so much easier 🤷🏻♂️
Nice video sir! Thank you for the review. I just picked up the v1 8 element version . Excited to put it to the test!
Thanks for your kind words, enjoy your new lens!
Love my 35mm cron v4!! There’s nothing in a 35mm that even comes close to the bokeh you get from it.
type4 is about 50% more expensive than the asph 2nd hand (in black).
I sold my M6 and 35mm f2 and brought a Leica Q. No regrets love this camera
